About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JesusMuniz0 contributionsAlex and Confidence were part of the best of this trip.Confidence and Alex were a great company throughout our trip. They handled our visas for Ghana, they gave us the docuemnts needed for the Nigerian visa, and took us to the best places in the itinerary and attended our needs and interests. They took care of us and made us feel safe. What we saw in those countries was interesting and tough. The slavery tours were mindopening and harsh, but necessary. Benin was very lovely with Ouidah being quaint and religious, the sea was beautiful along the coast.Written August 14, 2024
- memypassportandi0 contributionsFantastic Tour Around Western NigeriaMy friend and I had a fantastic 5-day private tour with Ucomeafrik, arranged by Confidence and led by Vincent. We had a wonderful time, and they put together a fantastic itinerary that included everything we wanted to see and more. I never thought I would enjoy Nigeria so much, and I kind of wish we had planned a longer visit, though work obligations prevented that. We really enjoyed our time in Lagos (especially Makoko and seeing a performance at Fela's Sheine), but it's also definitely worth exploring more than just Lagos, as some of the highlights included hiking in Idanre Hills and visiting the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove. Ucomeafrik can customize an itinerary, so reach out to them if you want to do something that doesn't exactly match the tours listed here. Thanks for such an amazing trip!Written June 15, 2024
- bellevuesummit0 contributionsWonderful Time in West AfricaWe had most amazing through West Africa with Confidence and Alex. The hotel recommendations were excellent. Confidence assisted us booking some hotels as some are not available on the U.S. travel web sites. The Visas on arrival in Nigeria and Ghana were done professionally. We need expert guide like Confidence to get us through all the border numerous check points safely. All the food were clean and safe to eat in the hotels recommended by Confidence. We had a wonderful time learning about history, cultures, customs through West Africa. Confidence is the guide that conducted all the tours according to schedule adjusting for the weather. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and traveling through West Africa with a relaible expert is a must. Thank You for the Wonderful time!!!Written June 3, 2024
- TheAdventureLife0 contributionsThe Best Guides West Africa Has To Offer! If you’re interested in visiting West Africa there’s no better guide than Confidence and his team! We reached out to customize his multi-country tour, extending by a few days and adding some activities we couldn’t possibly miss out on while visiting this part of Africa, like a Nigerian cooking class (which we highly recommend!). We had an incredible tour with Confidence and Alex through Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana. We are a couple that loves adventure travel and experiencing lesser-visited parts of the world to learn more about these places and let others know there’s so much more to see than what you may expect. We quickly learned that it would have been challenging to navigate West Africa on our own. Throughout our journeys Confidence and Alex always made sure we were safe, well cared for, excellently navigated the roads and checkpoints, assisted with all border crossings and were flexible in making adjustments to our day-to-day plans based on how much energy we had in the heat. We can’t thank you enough for this unforgettable experience! For anyone who is interested in visiting West Africa, you won’t find a better guide!Written May 1, 2024
- CHHoboatheart0 contributionsAuthentic African experience with trustworthy guidesI joined a group of 5 others to visit Ghana, Togo and Benin. I was met at the airport and taken to my hotel. All the hotels were good, better than I expected. The food was great. The places we were taken were very interesting - I have been to some other parts of Africa and this was the most authentic trip and experiences by far. We went into many villages and were welcomed at times by what seemed like the whole village. We were treated to some brilliant dance performances accompanied by great local drummers and singers. At all times I felt safe and well looked after. Confidence, Alex and Vincent were fantastic, I wish my trip was longer. I fully intend to return to West Africa and do more trips with them.Written April 15, 2024
- 92tiaraj0 contributionsIncredible 13-Day Tour Across West Africa with UcomeAfrik ToursMy husband and I recently returned from the trip of a lifetime - a 13-day custom tour through Ghana, Benin and Togo with UcomeAfrik Tours. From start to finish, this travel company provided an exceptional experience that opened our eyes to the rich cultures and history of these amazing West African nations. Our journey began in Ghana, where we had the privilege of visiting an orphanage and donating much-needed supplies to the children there - an experience that will stay with us forever. Confidence and Alex, our incredible tour guides, facilitated this opportunity and so many more throughout the trip. Their knowledge and passion West Africa was evident as they shared insight into local traditions, daily life, historic sites and so much more. The itinerary that Confidence designed was perfectly tailored to our interests, yet still allowed flexibility to explore places off the beaten path. The transportation provided was comfortable and we always felt safe as we traveled across borders thanks to the expertise of Alex and Confidence. No question went unanswered by these two - they graciously entertained our endless inquiries and provided fascinating context about everything we encountered. Their kindness and professionalism was much appreciated. When we initially began researching tour companies for this trip, we were quite cautious given the complex logistics of an international multi-country tour. UcomeAfrik Tours immediately stood out as a reputable and experienced! We are so grateful we selected them. From start to finish, they delivered an authentic, eye-opening and tremendously rewarding experience. We cannot recommend Ucomeafrik, and especially Confidence and Alex, highly enough to anyone seeking to explore West Africa. Their commitment to responsible tourism and creating enriching experiences is truly impressive. We hope to have the opportunity to travel with them again someday.Written April 1, 2024

- chrissS447ZR0 contributionsA fabulous tour with a top-notch teamWhat a wonderful experience we had! Confidence, Vincent and Albert kept us busy with so many fascinating things to see and do, and were very willing to tweak the tour to personalize it for us. They took good care of us, found some great accommodation and delicious food to eat, communicated really well with us along the way, and made sure the quirks of West African bureaucracy were smoothed over. I strongly recommend Ucomeafrik!Written February 11, 2024

- T9566IJjjj0 contributionsAntoinette and Family (UK) Amazing 4 day tour and highly recommended to see the best of Lagos.Thank you, Confidence, for arranging this tour for me on Jan 24. Firstly, my heritage is Nigerian, and I have lived most of my life outside Nigeria; besides having a Non-Nigerian Spouse (Caribbean), l knew l needed help with our visits to Lagos, and Confidence did not disappoint. Evans and Rotor supported our tour. They were friendly, always on time, and easy to talk to, but most importantly, we felt safe and secure. It is doable without help, but it would have been challenging, especially driving on the roads, which would not be for the faint-hearted. Evans and Rotor used extensive Local knowledge to make the trip safe, and we covered major attractions over four days, travelling extensively across Lagos. Our tour was packed with a mix of heritage, cultural events, and experiencing local lives, and this took us across the Badagry slave Museums and Markets. (A must for my husband's Caribbean Heritage. Fela's shrine, Makoko floating slum university of Lagos, Ikeja City Mall, Jaekel House (Nigerian Railway Cor), National Museums, Lekki Arts and Crafts Market. We even got to spend a late afternoon at the Oniru beach. Evans and Rotor made our trip very easy and special. The visits to the Badagry Slave museums and floating slums were poignant and one of our main highlights.Written February 6, 2024
- Hawra_Mohd0 contributionsRecommended for Lagos and surroundings! We did a 4 days tour in and around Lagos with Chuks.. he was such an amazing guy! He did a great job to show us around! Super friendly, funny and very disciplined! He definitely made our experience very special and we had really great time there!Written February 5, 2024
- SJerni0 contributionsAmazing TourI recently completed a tour of west Africa with this company, and it was an amazing time. Confidence provides constant communication leading up to the tour and provides the resources you need to make the trip relaxing, comfortable, and easy. The Nigeria visa process, which can potentially be a nightmare, was very easy and the company arranges for a person to meet you at immigration to help mitigate any problem. The tour focused on both the history of slavery and learning about voodoo practices. Confidence, and the other tour guides, were fantastic and friendly and the transportation was very comfortable. The tour also provides a mix of visits to museums, historical sites, and opportunities for down-time. I added Ivory Coast to the tour, which Confidence was able to arrange another fantastic tour guide. I highly recommend this tour.Written December 18, 2023
- markuseI2561NH0 contributionsFrom Lagos to Ghana via Benin&TogoDear Evans and Confidence I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional journey youmade possible, from Nigeria through Benin and Togo, all the way to Ghana. Your combined efforts as our guide respectively were instrumental in creating an unforgettable experience. Evans, your expertise in guiding and knowledge of each destination brought the journey to life. The tour program was perfectly curated, allowing us to explore, learn, and immerse ourselves in the local cultures. The visits to the Lagos slums and the Lome voodoo markets were particularly enlightening, and they stand out as the highlights of our trip. Your skill and professionalism on the road provided us with a safe and comfortable journey throughout. Navigating through multiple countries is no small feat, and your ability to do so smoothly played a crucial role in the success of our trip. You formed an incredible team, ensuring our trip was not only enjoyable but also enriching and hassle-free. We are extremely thankful for your dedication and for going above and beyond to make our experience memorable. I would enthusiastically recommend your services to anyone considering a similar adventure. Thank you once again for your outstanding service and for introducing us to the beauty and diversity of West Africa. Warm regards, Markus Eronen and Antti KarppinenWritten December 6, 2023
- RichardEbanks0 contributionsFantastic West African InsightLagos to Accra 8 Day Tour. Firstly Confidence and his team really helped with the visas. I'm an experienced traveller and the entry into Nigeria is the hardest I've ever faced! It kind of set the example for West African bureaucracy, why make it easy when for an extra delay you can ask for a favour!! The hotels were all clean, but the beds were so hard that a plank might be more appropriate though. Alex and then Evans made it all straightforward. This kind of journey wouldn't be possible without their local knowledge and support. Benin was easy after border network delays and Togo easier. Once again we were guided to the best places, and for sheer visual appeal the traditional voodoo market in Lomé will give you haunting memories with an attack on your sense of smell too. Ghana really shares it's history of the slave trade and the Pan-African movement, be prepared to be disturbed. Ucomafrik Tours once again guided you to the murky past. If you are prepared for the bureaucracy this is an amazing insight into West Africa.Written December 2, 2023
- Robert S0 contributionsAn unforgettable journey across 4 countries! We had the most amazing 8 day journey across West Africa with our guide Confidence (and his colleague Alex for translating and additional information in French-speaking Benin and Togo) Confidence is very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to planning itineraries, places to visit, crossing borders and visas, roads to take, hotels to stay at, local languages, currencies and where functioning ATMs are, typical foods to try (different each day), etc. He is also flexible and knows how to shift plans to get the most out of a visit. Over the course of our trip, we were able to visit Lagos, Badagry, Porto-Novo, Cotonou, Ouidah, Abomey, Togoville, Lomé, Accra, and Cape Coast! Having never been to this region of the world before, it is clear after our trip the major difference that having a talented guide like Confidence makes. As history teachers, we have so much information and new understanding that we will be able to bring back to our students. If you are considering a comprehensive visit to four West African nations, this is a HIGHLY recommended trip!Written July 28, 2023

Lagos is an exciting place to visit, but almost overwhelming. Confidence Aguiyi safely negotiated the roads to minimize our "go slow" times and to get me to all of the best places comfortably. He provided useful background info to what I was seeing and experiencing. I visited Lagos many years ago, and I would have had a much better experience if I had someone like Confidence available then. Confidence speaks clear English and is fluent in the other languages of Lagos. I would highly recommend his services.
