Roy was our guide and he was great. The hike was tough. Grab a hiking stick at the beginning or bring your own it helped a lot. The hike starts out warm then it starts to cool off about half way up. It started to rain a little but I didn’t pull out my raincoat I brought. It was slippery half way up, so not wear sneakers, bring waterproof hiking boots. Monkeys and wildlife in the beginning but not much in the cloud forest, it’s too wet.

Enjoyed the horse-drawn carriage ride. Oscar was knowledgable and the tour was well paced. The views from the bell tower were spectacular.

I cannot say enough good things about Vapues Travel and Lucia. We contacted Lucía about a year ago. We kept changing our plans, and while most people would have gotten frustrated and given up on us, Lucía never did. Finally, when we were ready to come to Nicaragua, we decided to only book a day tour of Managua and deal with other activities once we arrived. Again, Lucia stuck with us. We had a great tour of Managua, and she even had the driver take us to Granada. Once in Nicaragua, we decided to go to Little Corn Island. We reached out to Lucia, and in a matter of hours, she had a great 3-night trip planned for us. The trip was great and went off like clockwork. At least we thought so. Apparently, something was not up to Lucia’s quality. We did not notice, but since she was not happy when we returned to Granada, she offered us a day tour of the White Village. All to make up for an issue we did not even know was an issue. The transportation, accommodations, and guides were all top-notch from our perspective. We highly recommend Vapues Travel for your next visit to Nicaragua. It is rare to find someone that corrects a problem you did not even know you had.

When we decided on travelling to Nicaragua, we wanted to use a tour company as we knew nothing about the many sites available. One criteria was to find an in-country company and not a big-name international tour company. Vapues appealed to us based on its highly rated reviews and tour flexibility. We were not disappointed. From the on-set, communication was speedy and helpful. Emily, the office representative spent a great amount of time suggesting, adjusting and perfecting our tour itinerary. Her & the office response and professionalism was outstanding. Our 12 day tour began with our flights being cancelled. As we were in Costa Rica, Emily was able to pivot and arrange for us to be picked up by shuttle at the border. She even responded to us at 3:30am - from the start we did not feel abandoned. Our tour guide Oscar, spoke English and exceeded meeting our needs in results and in ensuring our safety. We had a lot of fun with him learning about the culture, traditions, and history of Nicaragua. The tour was exactly what we wanted - a bit of knowledge, a bit of experience and an opportunity to venture out on our own. Every detail was coordinated and the sites and stops they arranged were amazing, from cities to volcanoes. The highlight of the tour was being able to rely on a company and a group of professionals (office, guides, & drivers) who had your best interest as a priority and to deliver a premium experience. We have no complaints and highly recommend Vupues (meaning ‘let’s do it) as the name suggests.

From the first contact we knew this would be a great experience! We visited the perfect sites to feel like we’d gotten to know Managua. Our tour guide, Gustavo, was experienced, professional and friendly and shared lots of historical facts. Excellent Spanish and English to accommodate the whole group! We had a Managua city tour that lasted for slightly less than three hours. This was with Vapuez Travel and our tour guide was Rene and our van driver was Juan. We saw what Rene believed were the key sites in the Old Managua. This included Loma de Tiscapa, where the old presidential palace once stood before it was completely destroyed by the 1972 earthquake. Much of Managua’s history lies in this site and Rene was very good in filling in all the history blanks. From there we did the National Palace of Culture, which was formerly used as the Parliament and which was now an informative museum of the country. On the opposite side of the square sat the unused presidential palace, since according to the president’s wife, it gave off bad energy so she refused to set foot in it. Beside it was the old Cathedral, which was now just a shell since the inside had been gutted by the devastating earthquake. We finally went to the Puerto Salvador Allende, their ‘Lake Walk’. It had the equestrian statue of Simon Bolivar and the numerous gigantic ‘trees of life’, a personal project of the president’s wife. I think we missed out on the market visit, which was in the itinerary. Oh well. I can’t express enough how happy we were with the guiding of Rene. He was very articulate and he knew so much of the history of Nicaragua and Managua. We enthusiastically give him a ‘two thumbs up!

I have lots of photos. Hopefully I can upload them later. I was walking the town and just did a walk-in. They give you an option of a quick tour or wanting to participate in the workshop. I opted for the quick tour which was FREE. Of course, just tip and we walked about with some coco and brownie. I don't know what the cost is for the workshop but you can just pop-up and they will accommodate you.

We had a 6 day private tour for 3 people. It all went like clockwork. We went to Managua, Leon and Granada. Our driver Juan and guide Rene were terrific. Very pleasant and informative. The two hotels we stayed at were great. Comfortable beds and perfect locations. I would recommend the tour company VaPues highly. They were very responsive to all our needs. Nicaragua is a quiet gem.

Oscar was a wonderful tour guide who showed me many things about what life is like in Nicaragua. Learned alot about the history of the country and saw a variety of areas of Managua. Many positive changes are happening in Managua and I would definitely like to return and bring my family with me. Oscar is the absolute best!

I used Vapues Travel for a wonderful trip to Nicaragua.
