          DO NOT BOOK THIS
Absolutely disgraceful trip. We were taken in a taxi with a non English speaking guide as advised in the itinerary. When we arrived at the river cruise area, we were not greeted by anyone or told where to go by our driver so we just went to what looked like a seating area. Refreshments were severely lacking. You had a choice of warm water, warm rose water or stewed tea. The so called cruise itself was a joke, you picked a life jacket off a pile and hoped it fitted. The boat had definitely seen better days, to get onto the boat you had a very large step of at least two foot off the jetty, the hand rail moved as the plastic decking was broken and it was all very unsafe and unsteady. We had a full boat of people and a guide however, it wasn’t our guide he was the Chinese guide for the other passengers. This meant we couldn’t understand the safety instructions or have any information about what we were going to see down the river. Not that this really mattered as the so called Cruise was approximately 250 mtrs at most one way and only about 150mtrs the other way. We did get to see a monkey but because the boat had a roof unless you were sitting at the front you really couldn’t see. The other passengers were all standing up in front of us and were not advised to sit down by their guide. We stayed in the same spot for about 20mins waiting for the monkeys do more than sit in the trees hiding (which of course they don’t). .The drivers of the boats know when and where the monkeys are so we could have gone further to see anymore wildlife, although I am suspicious that the monkeys are the only species that live in this limited space. When the cruise was over we were taken back to the seating area which now served as a dining area, this is not a local restaurant as stated in the itinerary, in-fact it is not a restaurant at all and the local delicacy of noodles, chicken and fish again with only warm water or warm rose water to drink is not a great meal. We then had to get back into the car and we were driven 30 mins or so to a dirt track by a beach littered with rubbish to see the sun set. We then had another half hour or so drive to another boating area where our non English speaking driver managed to back into a parked car. This yard was worse than the first one in terms of facilities which looked like they only had buckets and squat toilets, nowhere to get a drink etc . The boat was as bad as the first boat with an extra large drop to get on the boat (although getting off was by some steps). By now it is dark and you have the magical and I do mean magical 15 min trip with the fire flys, it is like something out of a Disney movie. It concludes with a two hour drive back to your hotel. In short DO NOT BOOK THIS TRIP IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING An expectation of seeing any wildlife Mobility issues (I had a knee replacement) Want to eat at a local restaurant Have a comfortable boat trip that is longer than 250 mtrs or more than 15 mins

          Amazing day!
the tour was awesome! we spent the day with our guide and driver Ivy, a very cheerful, nice and funny girl who made the day very fun. we did a lot of activities, the ones detailed in the itinerary, however Ivy was flexible and took into account one of our requests! we went to a local restaurant for lunch and he recommended us what to eat, he also taught us words in the official Malaysian language. we highly recommend the activity!!

          Diabolical
Can’t comment on the trip as they didn’t even bother picking us up at the airport. No correspondence received either way, none of the contact numbers were answered so were left stranded in Sandarken. I’m now awaiting a refund if I ever get a response.! I’ve sent 2 lots of queries and not one answered yet but they’re very quick to take your money. Avoid at all cost

Beautiful little park where you can see Proboscis monkeys in semi-freedom
The place is quite nice, You can see Proboscis monkeys and others, like silver lipped, and other animals like birds in and outside the park area. Not very crowded when we were there. It's worth the visit.

          Proboscis the best
This is an experience that is more exciting than the Orangutan Sanctuary in Sepilok. You have a closest contact to the Proboscis monkeys families while being fed. If you are lucky enough, as I was, you may have encounters with Hornbill birds around.

          Quite the experience
We rented a private driver since there is problem with transportation Mr. Azrien, he was nice, knowledgeable and helpful f.e. he assisted us with arranging the day and recommended was else to visit. We recommend him highly. Watching animal in reserve is quite astonishing and there is no comparing it to watching animals in zoo. If you are lucky you might see other species of monkeys as well.

          Great Day with guide Abdul
We had a great day tour of the POW Memorial, Labuk Bay Proboscis Sanctuary & Sun Bear Conservation Centre. We hired a guide (Abdul Qayyum, + 6011-16695114) to take us to these sites. Abdul was very patient about allowing us as much time as we wanted at each place. He is an exceptional guide with good English and was lovely company. Price was very reasonable too. Highly recommend.

Pro is us Monkeys and Fireflies river cruise
A good tour to see the Proboscis Monkey endemic to Borneo. Quite a drive from our hotel ~ 2 hours (would be quicker but for the roadworks along the way) A tour along the river to see 3 types of Monkey including Proboscis, Macaque and silver languor. Also a tree snake swimming across the river. Many varieties of birds. A stop for a buffet dinner then after dark another cruise along the river to see fireflies in the trees. Fireflies sparkled like stars along the riverbanks. Another ~2 hour journey back to the hotel. Left hotel @ 2 pm and returned @ 9 pm

          A LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The tour is long but worth doing. I went to St. Francis Xavier grade school so had a special interest in visiting Malacca where he preached. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and answered all questions. I was especially impressed as I've had trouble in several Muslim countries. The women and children all had hijabs. At first, I felt unwanted, but having begun a conversation with a lady, I realized they are as unsure of us as we of them. It was a great learning experience for me. The people were kind. There was a small boy on a step with his mother eating jellybeans from a cone. I teased him in sign language about having no front teeth. We smiled and waved and continued on. I felt a tug on my shirt and there he was offering me a jellybean. The city reminded me of Manila in many ways. The old fort is interesting. Again, the guide was very good, and I did learn a great deal.

          Great day touring Sabah
I had a great experience and a wonderful day. I hired a guide (Abdul Qayyum, + 6011-16695114) to take me to Labuk Bay and a night firefly tour on the river. He is an exceptional guide and provided excellent service. He pointed out birds and other sights along the way. We arrived just in time for the feeding. The monkeys put on quite a show. It’s sad that they have lost their habitat and are forced to rely on humans to feed them. The sanctuary is inside a palm oil plantation. Talk about irony.

          Great Tour; Excellent Guide
We used Arshad Gabun as our guide for a full day's tour of Sandakan and the essential visitor sites. He collected us from the airport and returned us there at the end of a wonderful day. We started at the Memorial Park then went on to the Orang Utang centre, the Proboscis Monkey centre, the Sun bear Conservation Centre, the English Tea House and the Agnes Keith Museum. Arshad speaks excellent English, has a comfortable airconditioned car and is very friendly and personable.

AVOID!! stranded for hours with no taxi
AVOID!!!! We decided to visit Labuk Bay and it's not a Sanctuary they are monkeys with no habitat or food. It's a palm oil plantation with a few poor monkeys in the centre with such a limited habitat that they have no food and therefore having to rely on humans for their food. The site is huge and no shade. You also get stuck here if you don't ask your grab driver to wait.

          Sandakan with Eddie
Thanks to Eddie for planning our 3 days in Sandakan. Contact Eddie on 60 11 7117 1178 or borneowildnature@gmail.com Eddie is very knowledgeable, a great driver and we really enjoyed the 3 days we spent travelling around with Eddie throughout Sandakan on his recommendations. He planned the 3 days using local smaller operators where he could. We visited all of the major attractions. A night river cruise with dinner to see fireflys, local wildlife like crocodiles, monkeys in the wild and the sunset. The next day we visited the Sepilok Orangutans, Sun bears, Kinabatangan river for a day river cruise to see many monkeys, Macaques long and short tailed and Proboscis just to name a few. On our last day we went to the Proboscis monkey sanctuary. We had a great time seeing the these very strange but funny monkeys, Seeing their family dynamics of the proboscis monkey and we even lucky enough to see 3 Hornbill birds. We were then taken to the Rainforest discovery centre and later to the War memorial Park. All well worth visiting. Eddie is a safe driver and I would highly recommend him organising and showing you around Sandakan. He is very knowledgeable and an experienced person offering services at reasonable rates. Thank you Eddie, we wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves so much if it wasn't for your local expertise and friendship!

See The Closed Up of The Giant Corn Towers
A big thank you to the ground staff for being so organized. The whole visit was great. It is suitable for all ages. You’ll be given a sticker for your group for your booked time slot. You’ll go through a security before the start of your visit. There is picture taking that you’ll be able to purchase or view at the end of your visit. Please remember to show the person your ticket no. to view your pictures. However - the place is bit difficult if you’re disabled (you’ll need to inform the staff in advance as each time slot visit has exact head-counts for the elevator - I wouldn’t know if someone is on the wheelchair to be able to fit through it). Perhaps they will have you ride up on an elevator separately to the bridge. Going up to level 86 was refreshing. You’re have 15 minutes on this level to enjoy the view from the top. It was mesmerizing to be able to see a closed up of the other tower. You’ll end your visit at level 83 whereby there’s a small coffee stall, with some souvenirs to shop and you’re able to send a postcard to your home country. You can take your time here before heading down. The place is well kept but I do wish to see some improvement in term of more information to distributed to visitors. For instance, instead of telling us ‘you have 10 minutes here and I’ll call for your group with your sticker color’ when we reached the bridge (at level 41), visitors should be given more information in term of what tower are we going up later and how long it takes to build the bridge etc. Those general information were not given at all when the staff in charge who welcomed us on the bridge. I have a good feeling if we were to ask the staff, they will have no clue to answer our questions. Prior to visiting/ Tips: Buy your tickets online to avoid disappointment. (Get to the venue 15 mins before your booked time slot). To get the venue, look for Gucci & Ferragamo store and keep walking towards the exit. You’ll need to take an escalator down (do ask for guide if you’re unsure). There’s two different price for locals and foreign visitors. Pls bring your ID/ Passport on the actual day. Some of the staffs in charge may seek to see your document(s). You’re very likely to not score tickets on the spot for the day. (Please buy them in advance). Infants up to 2 years old is free. However - you’ll need to have tickets for them. Check the website upon purchasing or at the counter. The venue is closed every Mondays. No stroller for babies or any backpacks allowed. Only small bags permitted. Don’t worry- there’s a luggage storage (you’ll be given a tag and can claim your backpack/stroller after). There’s gift shop at level 83 & upon exiting at the ground floor. If you’re looking to buy souvenirs without visiting the place, you can do so at the ground floor gift store. Hope this helps and enjoy your visit!
