Your tour begins with pickup from your Luang Prabang hotel in time for an 8am departure. After meeting your guide and small group of no more than 15 people, collect your rental bike and set out on a leisurely bike ride.
Soak up the scenery as you glide along the Mekong River, passing lush rice paddies and orchards, and stopping along the way to experience life in the local villages. Visit the handicrafts village of Ban XiengLek, where you can watch a demonstration of traditional weaving and see how mulberry paper is made, then stop in Ban Xiang Hai, a village renowned for its production of ‘Lao Lao’ rice wine.
Arrive in Pak Ou, at the meeting point of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, and enjoy lunch (included) at a local restaurant with views of dramatic limestone cliffs and river valleys.
After lunch, paddle out to the Pak Ou Caves on a traditional longtail boat and spend time exploring the sacred site. Learn how the caves are an important place of pilgrimage for Buddhists, admire the huge collection of Buddha icons on display, and climb up to the Upper Cave to enjoy magnificent views over the surrounding countryside.
At the end of your visit, relax on a scenic cruise down the Mekong River, sailing all the way back to Luang Prabang. Back in the city, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
