We booked this tour because the group size mentioned on the website is limited to 4. Unless you are already traveling with a larger party, I knew personally I would prefer going with a smaller group size since everyone goes at a different pace and needs to take breaks at different times. We got lucky and ended up with just the 2 of us and our guide Wayan. There are apparently many different routes to go up. I believe we went up the east side and took the longer (8km total) but more gradual incline route. Wayan was super patient and allowed us to take as many breaks as needed. He made 2 walking sticks out of tree branches for us to use, which ended up being extremely helpful. He was very attentive and stayed close to help me up and down some of the steeper parts. Coming down the mountain had a section of trail with just loose volcanic sand and scree where it was easy to slip and fall. I was able to manage most of it but Wayan helped me through a section when I got scared of slipping and falling. Overall, he made sure we stayed safe and injury free. He also took photos and videos of us along the way as we experienced the sunrise and walked around the crater. We truly enjoyed this trekking tour and would highly recommend booking this tour to anyone who is up for the hike! Since you hike in the dark and there are so many trails and paths, I honestly wouldn't recommend attempting this hike on your own unless. Having an awesome tour guide like Wayan would make your life easier and this experience much more enjoyable! One thing we did not like (no fault of the tour company or our guide) is having to share the road with motor bikes. It is possible to rent motorbikes or hire one to drive you up and down Mt Batur. Having to dodge them and then walk in the wake of the dust kicked up as they zoomed up and down the mountain was the only part we did not enjoy.

Wayan was an amazing guide. In the middle of darkness he was encouraging and continuously a fountain of knowledge. The experience was breathtaking! This alone is enough reason for anyone to come to Bali!

We had a great time climbing the Gunung Agung with this organisation. We took an overnight camping experience and had a very kind and careful guide. When arriving at basecamp, tents were already installed and delicious drinks were available. The sunrise was unbelievable! By all means, the guides were very well organized and took very good care of us. Also the taxi driver was super kind!

I did the hike of Mount Batur with Nano as guide, the hike was superb and Nano was great. He was very friendly and timed perfectly our walk. I recommend it !

We did the Mt. Catur climb as an alternative to the closed Mt. Abang trekking. A very quiet trek with no tourists. Physically challenging because it's pretty much only steep steps all the way to the top. Unlike at Mt. Batur, the only ones joining us at the top were a large family of monkeys, so keep your food in your bags;).

Driver and guide were absolutely amazing. The hike was an ample challenge. Really enjoyable morning of sunrise, highly recommend these guys.

We did the Bali Mt Agung Sunrise Tour at it was an awesome hike. It's not for the faint hearted as you go through jungle and then it's straight up over very loose soil and rocks. The guide was super amazing making sure we had time to pause and gather energy, but also made sure we got to top for sunrise. They looked after us with food and drink as a celebration and to fuel up for the hike down. Make sure you take some good footwear as it's very slippery.

Our guide was kind and helpful. Our safety and comfort were ensured during our ascent. Really great tour

I did a solo tour and Wyan was an excellent partner! The hike was more difficult than I anticipated but Wyan encouraged me and kept saying “step-by-step”. I’m sure he heard me fighting for my life trying to breathe but he was patient and gave me progress checks that helped me stay encouraged. Thanks Wyan and team for an excellent (and challenging) day! Oh and the sunrise was spectacular.

Wyan was a most helpful guide, always making sure we are safe and lending us a hand to make sure we do not fall on the slippery slopes. He is also an excellent photo /videographer

Adi was fantastic! He is my sons age and is so personable, warm, authentic and have a great sense of humor. I must say as well that he was patient with all my questions, his English is excellent and both my husband and I enjoyed the cycling trip very much. Everything we saw today was interesting and we learned alot about life and culture in Bali. Best of luck to you Adi, you are an excellent guide!!

Incredible experience from start to finish. Our driver Wayan Terek picked us up at 2:30am. He was a great driver and knowledgeable about the culture and mountain trekking experience. The drive was smooth and quiet. The ascent up the mountain was quite difficult because of the terrain and the fact it was pitch black. We did use headlamps and our guide was very helpful. Views from the top of the mountain were incredible. Very peaceful and serene, despite the hundred or so other people at the top. Hike down was equally challenging but fun. Members of my group hiked Wayan Terek afterwards to drive us around Ubud and even to the airport. He was great.

Beautiful hike that takes about 2 hours each way. Hike is pretty straightforward assuming you have decent fitness level. We opted to go during the day in December rainy season and there was pretty much no one on the trail with us. Wonderful experience!

I wasn't sure what to expect as I've never done anything like this before. Despite some difficulties with our group the tour guides adjusted to our needs and accommodated the schedule for us. It ended up being an unforgettable experience. Our tour guides, Agus and King, were skilled and professional. They even helped with taking amazing pictures for us! Even if you're not the trekking or hiking type, I would definitely recommend them again. You won't regret it.
