I'm writing this review after visiting Giza and Luxor which was great too, but I can 100% say that this was our best experience in Egypt.

The sights were amazing, the food was delicious, and the kindness and friendships made priceless. He arranged everything including round-trip transfer from Cairo in a comfortable car with a professional driver. The communication was spot on from the first inquiry right up to him checking up on us after our arrival back to Cairo. He grew up in the white desert helping his dad give tours and is proudly following in his footsteps and doing it right!!! He knows all the hidden spots for the perfect photos and cooks the most delicious meals on the camp fire. This is definitely the highlight of our trip to Egypt! Mohammed was an amazing guide, he took care of everything so seamlessly and ensured that we felt at home even in the desert. We also had enjoyable dinner and conversations which went late into night by the campfire. The sites from the desert tour were also stunning and unforgettable, highly recommended!

First of all let me answer some of the questions we had before choosing this trip:
How to get from Cairo to Bawiti? We contacted Mohammed to book us a private air conditioned car for an additional price. The trip was 4h30m. The price was within the average range of a long private trip.
Is it safe to take this trip? Absolutely, we did not encounter any issues with security. The white desert is well maintained, safe, and clean.
Is it cold at night? I think the answer here depends on the season. We thought it was going to be extremely cold at night but it was actually refreshing (we travelled in May 2021).
Would I recommend this trip? Yes! I have to say that Mohammed’s hospitality is excellent. He speaks perfect English and is always happy to help you. We were lucky that not so many tourists were travelling these days so the tour was pretty much private and personalised for the two of us + Mohammed. He really made sure to deliver us the perfect experience, bringing tons of water as the weather is hot, food (Mohammed is a great cook), etc, and giving us the freedom to choose where to go with no rush at all.
Who should take this trip? Those who like camping outside in the middle of nowhere, under a clear sky full of stars, drinking tea, smoking shisha, and enjoying Mohammed’s great food.

Wooow, Wood, and Woow!!! This was one of the best decisions that I made while traveling to Egypt. I saw pictures and videos but being there was an incredible feeling that you can only experience seeing it with your own eyes. Our guide, Mohammed is one of the nicest people I meet in Egypt. He took us to the black desert, crystal mountain, the valley, white desert, and to the hot springs. He provided us with unlimited water, snacks, and explained everything to us. That day was packed of activities and he made sure EVERYTHING was perfect!! The food that he cooked by the fire at night was incredible delicious, he even made us dessert and gave us two kinds of tees while we where around the fire under the stars!!! I highly recommend using Mohammed as your guide to the white desert camping. His wasapp # is +20 127 570 9430. His tour was one of the most affordable and it was worth every single penny. I am glad I made him a friend on Egypt.

Mohammed arranged a driver to pick us up from the Mena House Hotel in front of the pyramids, equipped with AC (important, especially in the summer). Amazing experience riding around the Valley of Agabah, the White Desert, the Old White Desert, and more. We stayed only for one night, and I wish we were able to stay for more. He is also an amazing cook (I even tried making my own chicken at home from the recipe he provided me).
I highly recommend this trip as Mohammed can speak English fluently— this means you get to not only enjoy the views, but also enjoy the history and stories he will tell you as you ride throughout the desert. It was not terribly cold at night when I went, so I slept on a mat underneath the stars with just a blanket. Keep in mind that he does have a tent and sleeping bags available if needed during the trip. Water, food, shelter, and transport were all provided during the length of our stay. We were also able to go sand-boarding. It feels like you're on a completely different planet out here, and yes, the drive to the desert is worth every penny. When I do come back, I will go with Mohammed to give my other friends the same experience!

I don’t know where to start with this experience at White Dessert with Mohammed, it was just so awesome. I’d start by saying that Mohammed is a very passionate and honest guide who is very interested in giving you an authentic and wonderful experience. A lot of reviews said that this is one of their best experiences in Egypt and I was not sure if that would be the case as there is so much to Egypt that it would be surprising that an unknown part of the country would be the highlight for many people. I can now see why they said it, it truly is unbelievable.
The Bahariya Oasis area is a good 4 hrs from Cairo, but it is an east drive and not tiring at all, the driver arranged by Mohammed is a nice guy as well. We reached Mohammed’s home/hotel around noon and he served us a simple home cooked meal. Then we started to the desert, starting with the Black Dessert, and then the Crystal Mountain, and then finally to the White Dessert, some sand boarding fun and a great view for sunset. The drive thro the dessert is a fun adventure by itself, and Mohammed takes you to some great spots for pics. Then you reach the camp where he puts up the tents for the small group. We relaxed around the fire as Mohammed, his brother Mahmoud and his cousin start cooking dinner for us. The dinner was very sumptuous, and was served inside a beautiful tent, and then you also get warm mint tea which is perfect for a night at the dessert. You also get to see the beautiful sky, I’ve never seen so many stars in my life, and the milkyway is so cleary visible. Then you wake up in the morning for a beautiful sunrise, and a nice breakfast and tea/coffee before we head out to a few more scenic spots. We then headed back to his base, but before that stopped by quick at a Hot Spring for a very refreshing dip that took away all the sand in the body. We were back in Cairo by 5.30 pm.
All thro the trip you see so many breathtaking views, changing landscape and colors of the desert, and some good stories about the place from Mohammed. This clearly was the highlight of our trip as well, and it definitely worth more than the money you pay. As someone who has travelled to many countries, and attended a variety of tours, I can say that this one by Mohammed is one of the best, and is total value for money, and Mohammed is one of the best guides I have ever seen, honest, passionate and so friendly. He also made sure that we reached safely to our hotel in Cairo.

100% one of the highlights of our 2 week trip to Egypt. What an experience to go off-roading in a 4x4 across some beautiful scenic desert planes. The Black and White Deserts are one of the most unique places you’ll ever see. We felt like VIPs taking some routes that our expert host, Mohammed, knew so well (he learned from his father, who was one of the first guides in the area back in the day). We stopped at great locations for photos (which he helped take!) and brief historic/educational overviews of what we were seeing. Mohammed scouted for the perfect overnight spot in the White Desert, set up camp, cooked dinner for us and we enjoyed a peaceful night’s sleep looking up at the breathtaking stars. The standard tour companies do not include desert safari options in their packages, but we are so very glad we went outside of our itinerary to do this. It may be a fair ride outside Cairo (but Mohammed arranged very efficient pick up and drop off from Marriott Mena House), but it is totally worth it. What made it even more special was his professionalism, kindness, and great company. You can feel and experience he cares deeply about his clients/guests. You are in the best, safest and most knowledgeable hands, from the moment Mohammed welcomes you to his family home with a authentic lunch before you set off on your overnight adventure, to the time you depart for Cairo the following day.

I found myself with a little free time due to the Covid-19 emergency, so I decided with a colleague to practice social distancing by going to the White Desert. Mohammed and Samha at Desert Safari Home provided the best possible experience for us. Mohammed knows the area, its history, and its geology thoroughly. But the best part was the Bedouin hospitality that Mohammed and Samha showed us throughout the trip. They made us feel at home in the desert. Samha prepared excellent food while we explored the hoodoos and watched the sunset. Later, under the stars we drank tea and watched the fire burn low. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who would like to experience more than just the usual tourist places in Egypt.

Overall smooth and one of the best experiences I had in Egypt so far. If you like gazing at stars then this is the place for you. It is a gorgeous landscape and cannot believe it is not well known in Egypt. You will get food, drinks, spectacular views, photographs, and much more. I felt comfortable and safe throughout my trip as a solo traveler. I do recommend to wear hiking sandals or hiking shoes because you will be allowed to climb mountains to get an amazing view. It does get chilly at night even at night at least I did and I am super glad that Mohammed provides blankets and all the equipment needed to enjoy your visit to White Desert. Also there is fee to enter White desert which is only 150 Egyptian pounds which is very affordable and totally worth the ticket. Be prepared for an amazing adventure in the White Desert with one of the funniest guides Mohammed.

If you are even thinking about doing this with Muhammad DO IT. He could have charged 4 times the price and we would have done it again in a heart beat. Of the 10 days we spent in Egypt these days here in the white desert with Muhammad were definitely our favorite and most memorable. Having Muhammad as the our guide was the crowning jewel of our Egypt trip. He was the nicest person we met in Egypt and one of the nicest people we’ve ever met (also his English is fantastic). We were greeted with a great lunch and hibiscus tea made by his wife, and we feasted that night on amazing food made by the man himself in a Bedouin camp. He took us to very secluded spots away from other tour groups and we saw some awesome stuff. Having a private tour made all the difference. We saw many other people crammed into small Jeeps and they looked very uncomfortable. If you can book this trip it will be some of the best money you’ve ever spent! We love you Muhammad! Salam!

We had an unforgettable time touring the White Desert, and highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates incredibly natural landscapes and wants the "off the beaten path" experience that isn't swamped by rowdy tourists. There were so many stars at night, it was breathtaking. With any tour, the guide can make or break the experience, and Mohammed was a fantastic host. We had one of our best meals in Egypt in the desert, despite having no electricity overnight. I was surprised by the little details, such as bringing out the hookah pipe at night for us to smoke.

No. You would not be back to Cairo in time, unless you leave the desert tour several hours early.

Hi Rachel, super exciting! It's a really wonderful tour! I would message Mohammed about that. We were picked up at 7am in Giza and it took 4 hours to arrive at the tour starting location. He's pretty flexible and a great guide, so I'm sure y'all would be able to arrange something. Hope that helps!
