About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- TheGazebo2420 contributionsEntertaining Ghost/History TourDavid is a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We got a great mix of history, ghost stories and entertainment. He also has the creepiest ghost photo I've ever seen!Written January 22, 2025
- I4357HYjanep0 contributionsThe pros—picked us up at our hotel. Was on time. Called when he was nearby Guide seemed knowledgeable enoughThe pros—picked us up at our hotel, was on time, called when he was nearby, seemed knowledgeable about many things. The cons—much unnecessary editorializing. Even if I agreed with much of it, a tour guide should be like a reporter—give the history and the facts. Car smelled heavily of smoke.Written January 19, 2025
- dawnfleishans0 contributionsEnded up a private tourWe were the only two on the tour, so it was perfect. David was knowledgeable and fun. I was surprised they didn't cancel sense we were the only ones. A great way to get a little bit of history. Thank you!Written December 13, 2024
- 387madelynl0 contributionsHad a great timeLoved it, loved our tour guide. Interesting, amusing, and entertaining tour. My kids liked it too, one of the few activities that was friendly and fun for all ages.Written December 5, 2024
- anmold5100 contributionsArchitecture Walk - Go For It!I registered for the "Birmingham Architecture Walking Tour" and was surprised to find that I was the only person on the tour. David, the tour guide, was absolutely fantastic, and showed me at least 30 different buildings (if not more) in Downtown Birmingham, pointing out tons of interesting architectural features and telling beautiful stories about the buildings, and the city in general. Absolutely wonderful, would 100% recommend.Written October 11, 2024
- Mominchina0 contributionsDavid's BirminghamDavid was amazing! My head was spinning with his phenomenal knowledge of the Birmingham area! I cannot say enough good things about his tour. My husband and I got a real "feel" for the city, got to see the highlights of the city and even had a great lunch at the "Garage". I felt thoroughly spoiled after he dropped us off at our hotel! One of the things that impressed me the most is that David actually LOVES Birmingham and is a vibrant resident of the city. We've traveled extensively and this is a very unusual quality!Written October 5, 2024
- Lafy560 contributionsExtensive, information overview of Birmingham and its history. This was such an interesting tour. My husband and I had never been to Birmingham. We saw most of the main areas of the city. Our guide was extremely knowledgable about the city’s founding, growth, cholera epidemic, rebuilding, and civil rights movement. He was able to give us lots of interesting information about everything we saw (or drove past). The tour starts at Vulcan Park which was beautiful. It sits high on the mountain and overlooks Birmingham. Our guide personally took us through the museum there and we learned about the city’s history of mining and iron smelting as well as the Vulcan statue. The highlight for us was the Negro Southern League (Baseball) Museum. We are baseball fan’s and loved it. Our guide was knowledgable about every exhibit there. Four hours was not nearly long enough, but we felt like we got a great foundation in Birmingham’s history to do more exploring on our own. Well worth the time and cost.Written September 18, 2024
- Innovation0070 contributionsFind out what makes the "Magic City" tick....I loved my highlights tour with David. He was so informative and engaging. He gave me a better understanding of the city and some of its facets: food (I did not know about white barbeque so will have to try), the history of the negro league, civil rights and architecture. Will have to return to try the other tours like the ghost walk with my posse to celebrate my birthday. What a find!Written September 4, 2024
- 972dionh0 contributionsGreat Tour, great tour guide, very interesting to learn about the history of some of Birminghams ghosts! This was a fantastic tour. Our tour guide David was very knowledgeable and made the walk so much fun. Definitely recommend!Written August 11, 2024
- hcampbell1970 contributionsBirthday weekend and a ghost tourDavid, our guide, was a hoot! Loved every minute of the tour! Would highly recommend for a history and architecture lovers as well as fans of haunted history! Would do again! We had a small group of three….me, my husband, and Kim from Houston.Written August 6, 2024
- Pathfinder4358160 contributionsCancelled last momentThe tour was cancelled an hour before it was supposed to start. I received a voicemail asking to call back. I tried three times - no one was picking up. Finally got a call back. The gentleman was angry that I called him three times. He explained that his car overheated and he can’t lead the tour (a guide, apparently). I offered to pick him up in my car, so the tour can still place. He refused, said it’s too hot for the tour anyway. We stoped in Birmingham on our way to the coast for this tour specifically. The heat was forecasted (it’s a night tour) and it is hard to believe that the company has one tour guide without a backup? Not professional. We are awaiting a refund, but lost an evening.Written June 26, 2024
- curlieque0 contributionsOur plans went awry...2 days before the tour, David called to confirm that we were four adults and would need a larger size van than the car he usually drove for a couple or a family with kids. I greatly appreciated him verifying that. The day before the tour, weather caused the airline to reroute us, and I spent an hour at the airport trying to get us back on track - to no avail. Once it became apparent we wouldn't arrive in Birmingham on time to go on the tour the next day, I called David to let him know we had to cancel as our tight schedule didn't have any other alternative day. He said he would be happy to give us a refund if Trip Advisor would, as I hadn't booked directly with the tour company. Unfortunately, when I cancelled on TA, it was less than 24 hours before the tour start (though it was still the day before), which meant no automatic refund. After I got home from the tip, I filed a claim with TA, explaining what had happened with the airline and how I'd cancelled as soon as I could the day before. After a few days I got an email saying that yes, I would be getting a full refund, and a few days after that the refund appeared on my credit card. So the rating isn't for the tour itself but the friendly call ahead of time confirming the size car we'd need and the effort it took to get the refund.Written May 30, 2024

- AWooly0 contributionsAn entertaining, personalised and informative tour of Birmingham AlabamaWe took their Historic Highlights Tour which gave an overview of the history of Birmingham. Our guide (I can't remember his name, but he looked like a young Colonel Saunders) was very friendly and obviously knowledgeable about the city. The tour included a visit to Vulcan park, Arlington House and the Sloss Furnaces as well as the city’s most iconic landmarks. A really enjoyable and informative four hours. Highly recommended for an overview of Birmingham.Written May 16, 2024
- H1849RZnicolea0 contributionsKnowledgeable and accommodating. We were the only 2 people on the tour because we went on a Monday night. Just as the tour began my friend realized that she left her purse in the uber that had just dropped us off. The guide was very accommodating and helped us get her purse back and then continued on with the tour without missing a beat. We gained a lot of info and the guide was nice and knowledgeable.Written April 30, 2024

The. tour was exceptional. Willamina was very knowledgeable, providing background information and context to the sights on the tour. She not. only explained the historical significance of stops, but also related other stories and events (both historical and current) as we walked to them.

Wilhamina is a jewel with deep understanding of Birmingham’s role during the Civil Right’s movement.
As a local she was able to share more personal perspectives of the times.

We loved this tour. Being able to learn the history from someone who has lived her whole life here (and during the events discussed in the tour) was invaluable! Wilhelmina was great at answering our questions, and presenting the information in great ways for the adults and teens.

While we could have done a self guided walking tour, our guide gave so much insight and historical detail that 90 minutes quickly passed. Describing both the positives and horrific happenings in 1963 we gained knowledge and understanding of the Birmingham black community.
