          Great tour of Atacama desert
We had a wonderful 4 day private tour with Patricio in the Atacama desert. We were with another couple who were friends of ours. We went to all of the great sites around San Pedro, including the geysers, the alto Plano, Marble Canyon, the salt lakes etc. It was an amazing time, and Patricio is very knowledgeable about history and geology of the area. He is very attentive and made us lunch or breakfast picnics every day. On our anniversary star gazing night,he had horsd'oeuvres, champagne and a cake for us, under the stars. He is also a great photographer and took many great pictures of us which he provides free of charge. Patricio and his tour is highly recommended!

          Patricio - the Atacama Maniac
Patricio is an Atacama maniac! :) He knows every grain of sand, every rock, every mineral, and every drop of water in the lagoons. Such a fantastic guy overall. We had an excellent three day trip together and we saw a lot of Atacama and got a ton of information from Patricio. It would not have been as enjoyable if it were not for the planning and the know how of Patricio. He provided photography tips and took pictures of our family all throughout. We have never had so many great pictures from a vacation. He gets booked months before. So go get him ahead of time. You are in for a treat.

SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
End of December 22 we organized a private tour with Patricio & Patricio (father & son) both gave us amazing tours, everything perfect from arrival at Calama airport till the departure. Patricio son he accompanied us to each place explaining us about the different herbs, flowers and minerals. Our tours have been Moon and rainbow valleys, Lagunas Atliplanico and Desert Flat Route. We had 2 lunches on the way, one was cooked by Patricio father and one in a restaurant both were delicious. Thanks to them we really appreciated this part of the world. Thank you.

          Best tours, great pictures
The best tours we have ever been. We did El Tatio Geysers, Rainbow Valley and Puritama Hot Springs. Pato was extremely knowledgeable on almost everything from botanic to history. Professional pictures was a great plus. Definitely recommended

          Fabulous
Pato—- was just fantastic. He took my husband and a friend and myself on several different tours for several days. He was so easy to be around and knowledgeable, plus fun and funny. Can’t say enough good things about he and his father !

          Perfection!
We booked pre-covid and Patricio was always flexible as we had to postpone 3 times due to the non or difficult travel regulations. I found him on Tripadvisor with only good reviews and I can only add another one. We did with him and his father: - Valle de la Luna - Altiplanicas full day Both were amazing tours but the Altiplanicas was just up to perfection because of the amazing landscapes. We were only with 3 persons, so it felt pretty private which was nice. It is quite a long day but so so beautiful and Patricio shares a lot of interesting knowledgable facts. You feel he loves doing this and he loves the surroundings. As a bonus he takes photos, which was for us also a reason to book this as he knows good spots and is a photographer etc. The food was also very well prepared for both breakfast and lunch and more than enough. Well done, Patricio sr! I can only say a big thank you and we will recommend you highly to everyone who wants to go to SPdA or if we come back we will book here again!! We only regret that before we found him, I already booked the Tatio tour through our travel company. That one I couldn’t cancel otherwise we would have booked everything here :)!

          Outstanding
We stayed in Atacama for 3 nights and booked all of our tours with Pato. Pato and his dad provided an incredible experience and I wish there was a Pato in every place we travel. The tours were small group (2-3 couples), extremely well-organized, fun, motivational and simply unforgettable. Pato took professional photographs on each of the tours that look amazing and will be a wonderful memory of Atacama for years to come. Always on time, extremely knowledgeable about the area, with snacks and refreshments always handy (and delicious lunch cooked by Pato senior on a full-day tour), Pato exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Pato for all of your Atacama adventures, he has been the absolute best tour guide we've had in Chile.

Great tour guide plus professional photographer all in one
We spent 4 enjoyable days with Pato and his dad. Pato was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited but then to top it off he is an amazing professional photographer. He took tons of photos - suggested where the best places were to get the most scenic ones and then provided a link to the photos a few days after our trip. His English is very good, he was conscientious about arriving on time and getting us back on time and unlike some of the other tours we went on there was substance to the breakfasts and lunches that were included with some of his tours. His dad, Patricio, is his driver and chef and they make a great team. They drive a VW van that seats 10, so not a luxury bus if that is something you are looking for (and unfortunately for us the a/c broke the day before we started out tours) but for us this was outweighed by Pato and his dad’s friendliness and knowledge - and the beautiful photos! Pato was also experienced with altitude sickness, providing special teas for us to drink and knowing what to do when one of us was feeling the altitude. Highly recommend!

          Fantastic day in the Altiplano
Our group of 4 did the full-day Altiplano Lagoons tour with Pato and his dad (also Pato!) on 24 November. We loved it so much! Pato has perfected every detail. We started off by visiting the beautiful Laguna Chaxa, which is filled with flamingos. After taking way too many pictures there, we came back to the van to find a wonderful breakfast set up for us that overlooked the lagoon! We then moved on to higher altitude, making a stop along the way in the village of Socaire before arriving at the beautiful Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques. Later we had a private picnic lunch overlooking a volcano with wine, beer, homemade juice, and the most amazing chicken! Our next stop was Piedra Rojas, which was possibly my favorite but it’s too hard to choose. On our way back to San Pedro, we stopped in Toconao village to get some ice cream and souvenirs. I should also mention that Pato took professional photos of us during the entire trip because he is also a talented photographer. Overall it was a really wonderful day and I hope to go back and do some of the other tours they offer!

Wonderful trips in the Atacama with the dos Patos.
My husband and I took several trips to the geysers, Lagunas, moon valley, rainbow valley etc with Patricio and his father ( also Patricio- hence dos Patos) over a few days .The trips were very well organised and great fun. Patricio was punctual, communication (via WhatsApp) was prompt , the van was comfortable and we never felt rushed. They made us breakfast every day and Patricio senior concocted a delicious herbal infusion daily to ward off altitude sickness. My husband had put in a deposit for astrophotography. Pato was very honest and upfront that conditions were not ideal and offered us a refund. I don’t think many others would have done that. Patricio has huge depth of knowledge of the area including geology , flora and fauna and shares his passion for conservation. While it was not a dedicated photography tour, he provided opportunities for the best possible shots and his knowledge as a professional photographer was very helpful. He took professional pictures of us in all the locations and emailed them to us later- at no additional charge. We had a wonderful time with them and whole heartedly recommend this tour.

Out of this world photo tour!
Pato took my wife and I for a photo tour, driving us for about an hour in the direction of El Tatio high up in mountains. After watching the flamingos at sunset at a laguna near Machuca, we went to a great spot to watch the stars and Milky Way. What a really stunning sky! After some hot drinks and snacks provided by Pato we started to take photos of the night sky. Pato is very knowledgable and experienced and can explain how to take the best photos. He speaks excellent English as well as Spanish. We used his tracker to take some really long low noise shots, and his lighting tools and laser to get some fantastic compositions. He also helped me take some panoramas. Throughout the night he was able to point out new galaxies and constellations that we hadn’t seen before and we took great photos of them. Pato also took some photos with his camera including some of us that will great mementos. We were out for around 7 hours. Pato is very professional but also great fun, and just the guide we wanted. There are a lot of so called photo tours that you could go on, but I think that this must be the best one. A 5 star plus tour!

          Amazing astrophotography tour
I went on a night astrophotography tour with Patricio Junior. It was incredible! Patricio was on time with pick up, and drove us out to the altiplano, where you could see the Milky Way with your naked eyes. It was truly breathtaking. Patricio is super friendly. He has great knowledge about the local area, astronomy, and photography. After explaining what we were looking at, Patricio helped me take some of the night photos I’ve ever taken. He knows the best spots to take night photos, and was patient with me and my requests. He was also taking photos, and we'd share our photos with each other as we took them, so it was like being with a friend. Plus he brought some great snacks and hot tea to end the night. Worth every penny!

This is a father-son run operation. We did this tour in English and it was very excellently done with good explanations of history and geology of the Atacama desert area. I think that the biggest differentiator is the night tour since the photos of the stars cannot be easily taken and requires their expert techniques though that is not to diminish the other tours (we did the Taito Geysers with them, which was also great).

Simply the BEST way to see the Atacama
We were on a solar eclipse tour with limited time in San Pedro so booked this tour specifically to get a custom itinerary and some great photo opportunities. Patrice and his father really delivered. Not only were they very helpful and flexible with a late date change but we had the best possible day. They started by serving us a delicious breakfast overlooking Laguna Tuyajto at over 4000m and sub zero with an infusion tea that quickly counteracted the altitude lightheadedness. After a few photos it was back to Salar de Águas Calientes and a distant viuew of the closed Piedras Rojas. Then on to Lagunas Miscanti and Miñiques for yet more stunning views and photos. In passing we photograhed Vicuna, cute viscachas ansd a desert fox before reacjing Socaire and its charning church. Then across the Salar de Ayacama to Laguna Chaxa where there were a few Flamingos in the midst of the stunning salt flats. After that it was time for a late lunch served up in the El Tambillo forest plantation. Patrice the elder certainly put his 25 years as a trucker to good use rustling up delightfully tasty roast chicken with salad and bread plus wine or soft drinks followed by dessert under the shady trees, while a herd of goats went by, with the mountains as a stunning backdrop. Patrice the younger is incredibly knowlegable about the Atacama environment and really passionate about preserving it against the threats of global warming and exploitation. After lunch it was off to the Valley of the Moon until sunset. I think that was about as much as could be fitted into one day, You would need 3 conventional tours to do so much without the same enjoyment and background knowledge.

We contacted Patrico to arrange 3 days of tours with him. His response was very quick and clear - explaining the various options and what his suggestions would be to get the most out of our time.

We were kept up to date via email and whatsapp on what we would be doing and when. The weather changes a lot in the area and he worked around it for us to make sure we would be in the right places at the right time.

Patrico speaks very good English and is very knowledgeable about the area and where to get the best photos, avoid the crowds, etc.

We saw all the highlights we had hoped to see - got the most excellent breakfast at the Tropic of Capricorn and a huge lunch.

Patrico is a superb photographer and took as many pictures of the trip as you could ever want and sends them to you after the trip.

I would highly recommend - he managed to allow us to see the maximum amount of the highlights of the area, sorted all the tickets and all for a reasonable cost for just th two of us.

I suggest contacting him directly for a price and itinerary and i suspect you will be delighted.

Finally made it to San Pedro de Atacama after a 2 year wait. Pato was very accommodating with the delay and rebooking. The wait was well worth it. Pato is really knowledgable about the area and knows the best spots for photography. I had a problem with my camera so he loaned one of his Sonys and was very hands-on with his instructions (I'm a Nikon shooter). I got the shots I wanted! Worth noting is he is an excellent driver which is required to get to some of the more remote places we went.

The experience with Patricio son and Patricio father was one of the best photo tours I've ever taken in my life. For years I wanted to know the Atacama desert and take beautiful photographs of the night sky, sunsets, sunrises, volcanoes, lagoons and much more and San Pedro de Atacama offered me everything. I did private photo tours with Pato and his father as they have very good reviews and above all they focus on photography, in addition to being able to choose the best spots and hours of the day. In my visit I managed to take many very valuable photographs for my career and I hope to return to see more amazing places in the Atacama desert and I will 100% do it again with the Patricio's

We (3 adults) booked Patricio for a photography tour while visiting Atacama recently. Communication was excellent. He sent through a sample itinerary which we customized a little. Our main goal was to capture some great photos of the Milky Way, so Patricio's photography experience was a big bonus.
We were met at the airport, given excellent knowledge during our day time tours. At night he helped with our endless questions and we all managed to obtain some great photos (and memories). 1 of the days was at high altitude, windy and freezing. There was never any issues and again, he helped with everything in a friendly manner. Each day he made sure we were well fed. Providing an amazing breakfast, empanadas and also treating us to lunch one day. We were first to arrive for the Flamingos at Chaxa Lagoon and always in a great spot for sunset/stars.
On the last day we managed to squeeze in some extra sights before being dropped off for our flight.
I highly recommend them, especially for anything photography related. Knowledgeable, reliable, friendly and helpful. We had a great time, thanks!

Pato Oses of Paniri Volcano Tours is the best tour guide for a customized photography tour. He is used to working with photographers and was willing to stop whenever I saw something I wanted to photograph or drive the extra distance for me to get the shot I wanted. Communication was quick and efficient. He arrived on time and was reliable. Pato speaks English fluently. He knows and respects the landscape, will make suggestions, and customize the tour to fit your needs. I felt safe with his driving and the car. He has a vast knowledge of the area and has extra gear - like a good tripod - if it is needed. I traveled as a solo female and would absolutely recommend Pato for an excellent photography tour.

Patricio was absolutely fantastic, he was delightful company, extremely informative and passionate about Atacama. He designed individual tours for us that were highly flexible and responsive to our interests.

We travelled in a very comfortable 4WD car and Patricio took us to great photography spots and provided a very interesting and enthusiastic commentary.

We enjoyed some lovely breakfasts whilst enjoying beautiful sunrises in this truly amazing place.

I would highly recommend this tour.

        Pato,
We had 2 very nice days with you, you have a great capacity to share what you know and love Flora, Fauna, Heritage, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Meteorology and more.
You organized super interesting days for us, and we aquired new knowledge in photography while you are guding us proactively.
You organised great breakfasts out in the field in intersting sites and wonderful places and exquisite lunches.
Your English is fluent and we could communicate freely.
        These were two unforgettable days

We booked 3 outings with Patos, and had an absolutely amazing time. He is a skilled photographer and has great composition ideas and knows all the good locations. We did everything from astrophotography to venturing to the ice geyser and the argentine border, and enjoyed it all. I'm hoping to find a time to go back for more intensive photography and camping in the altiplano.

I went 2 tours with Pato - Altiplanic lagoons and Salt Flat. Highly recommend. Firstly, he kept the group small, maximum 6 pax. The breakfast and lunch that his father made, are fantastic. And he take photos for you, knowing where is the perfect spots and angles to take. All the photos are well taken. You won’t go wrong with Pato.

We spent a shortened amount of time in Atacama due to Covid-19 however, our pre-booking a private photography tour with Pato created a memorable stay and we actually left with good memories and a commitment to return.

I cannot say enough good things about Pato and his company Volcan Paniri Tours. If you are a photographer - or even if you are not - Pato is one of the few actual certified guides in San Pedro and has a wealth of knowledge about every aspect of the area. He also lives in the Atacama and has a deep respect and love of the natural beauty and enthusiasm to share.

We spent 2 full days with Pato and during that time learnt about the geology, animals, some of the ecological challenges, astronomy (we did some night photography and star gazing), social, political and climate issues specific to Atacama.

This was NOT a cookie cutter tour typical of others one can sign up for in Atacama. Pato met with us the evening before our day with him to discuss the plan for the next day and discover our interests. It is obvious he is a serious photographer and has scouted out the best photo locations and also is mindful of lighting and time of day for photography.

He picked us up before sunrise to take us to the first location......he was generous in his knowledge and assisted us if we had technical or composition questions. There was NEVER any rush to move to the next location and there was also never any issue of stopping along the way should we wish to take photos. In fact, he often would point out a potential photo op.

There was always water available for drinking and Pato put on an amazing breakfast and lunch spread - complete with portable picnic table. Personally, I think he was having as much fun as we were and he also brought along an extra tripod (good he did as mine malfunctioned) and his own camera. I also had an opportunity to take some videos with my drone!

Our two days with Pato were in sharp contrast to our half day tour with another company in San Pedro.....where our guide seemed more focused on keeping company with the driver than engaging with us in any meaningful way. Very little water on board (thankgoodness we brought our own) and more of a drop off and collect when you are finished attitude. The driver even parked the van right in the most scenic spot and we had to request he move.

We will no doubt be back to Atacama for a hopefully longer stay and will be seeking out Volcan Paniri Tours and Pato.
