My friend and I wanted a fun and informative tour of Rio. We booked two days with Fabio Mendonca who owns and operates Rioculturalsecrets.com and it was perfect. Fabio is a native of Rio, and he is your tour guide. It was great learning about Rio from a native. His website is very informative and he designed the two tour days to match our interests. His communications were prompt and efficient, he arrived on time with a nice vehicle, and he is just fun to be with. We communicated by e-mail and paid him through pay pal in April for our August tours. Don't hesitate, if you want to have a Rio guide, he is the best.

We had a wonderful time with Fabio. We had a 1 day private tour and he took us from Rio to Buzios. He is a fantastic and safe driver. He taught us many things about Rio and the surrounding regions. Along the way, he took us to many beautiful beaches and we went on an amazing boat tour. When I go back to Rio, I’ll contact Fabio for another tour. I’ll also recommend his tour to friends and family.

My partner and I had a great time walking around Vidigal Favela with Fabio. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and we felt safe and welcome all the way. We had mixed feelings about a tour inside a favela but it was done in an incredibly respectful way. The views are fantastic too and he will tell you lots of interesting anecdotes along the way. We highly recommend it!

We spent 3 days with Fabio. My teen daughter was concerned about spending so much time with a guide, but now we are both fans of him. We did the usual Rio highlights, some more in the area and a day at Ilha Grande. He is high energy and very accommodating.

I traveled to Rio for a work conference in May and booked a full day tour with Fabio for myself and a colleague on our one free sight-seeing day. The night before our tour, two additional colleagues asked to join, and Fabio made the necessary arrangements (i.e., securing a different, larger vehicle) in order to accommodate the last-minute request, which I greatly appreciated. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Fabio picked us up at our hotel promptly at the agreed-upon time. He told us about the things we were seeing throughout our drive and while we are at various locations, and answered all of our questions. Given his extensive experience doing these types of tours, he got us to the sights at ideal times when crowds were lighter, which we appreciated. We had a wonderful day with Fabio and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering a tour in Rio.

We did both the Historic City Tour and the Ilha Grande Island tour and both were excellent. Fabio is always 5-10 minutes early, and ready for the day with a general itinerary that can be adapted to suit your needs. My only regret was not doing our third day with him. 5 stars.

Had two great tours in Rio De Janeiro with Fabio Mendonca. We did a full day city tour and a full day in Petropolis. Fabio was a fantastic guide, he is extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Rio’s history.

Rio is an amazing place and Fabio made that experience even better for us. He showed us everything followed by extensive explanations about the history of each place . It brought Rio to life for us. You can tell Fabio loves his job . If you like to visit Rio, I highly recommend a private tour with Fabio. He picks you up from the hotel in his air conditioned car and accompanies you to all the great touristic places with his kind and nice attitude. You will make unforgettable memories in Rio!

My husband and I spent two fabulous days with Fabio. He was a wonderful guide (very knowledgeable and personable) and really allowed us to make the most of our time in Rio and visit all of the major sights. It was a great experience and so much better than if we had booked group tours. By engaging him for two days, we were able to make adjustments based on the weather, expected crowds, etc. I would highly recommend him for anyone coming to Rio.

Fabio was great! I only had one available day and had wanted to go west out to the UNESCO Sitio Roberto Burle Marx Farm ... super for those into art/landscape design and then the fabulous Brazilian craft museum Casa do Pontal on the return to Rio, but not before enjoying the fabulous Moheqa (?sp) Camarones /seafood stew. Despite the pouring rain he went above and beyond the 'itinerary' and drove me down the coast 'highway' to Grumari and Prainho as well... so beautiful. He was knowledgeable, super friendly and very helpful following up with all my questions...super punctual and reliable, as had his email responses prior to leaving home. The best! All of us enjoyed each minute during the 7 hour time together. Fabio was engaging, interesting and everything was so well timed and thought through. It was not our first time in Rio but yet Fabio made it feel still so exciting and so much to see and take in. We saw Sugar Loaf, Santa Tereza, Centro, Cathedral and Corcovado. Even the lunch spot was so thoughtful and worked so well. Could not recommend Fabio enough!

Fabio was brilliant. He worked with us on how we wanted the tour to be, very informative and friendly during the whole process. We had to adjust the day of the tour because of bad weather, this was no problem. Then again because of my friend being ill, again no problem. Fabio explained many things not just about the sites we saw but about Rio too. He ensured we took as long as we wanted at every place. He gave us a great recommendation for Samba bars too! He dropped us at a brilliant restaurant for lunch in Ipanema when we finished. Highly recommend for private tours!! Thank you Fabio.
