Not only was he very knowledgable about the city but he asked what we were interested in to make sure the tour suited our interests. My favorite part was going through the botanical garden where he guided us through the gorgeous grounds and we learned about the indigenous plants. Definitely will recommend this tour to my friends and family.

This tour is an absolute no brainer. Luis is a great guide and genuinely cares about maximizing your experience. We started off going to a local farmer’s market where I tried some of the best fruit of my life. Then we visited the botanical gardens and Luis was extremely knowledgeable about the plants and Brazilian history. Afterwards, we saw an opening to go to Sugar Loaf Mnt as it was less cloudy at that elevation (but still too cloudy for the higher elevation of Christ the Redeemer). Wonderful views. Then went to Santa Theresa which is a must do IMO. Very cool town with a bohemian/hipster vibe. Great place to grab lunch. We finished the day at the Seleron Stairs (very cool experience as well). I felt like I genuinely experienced Rio and felt very safe the entire time. Luis is a first rate guide and you won’t be disappointed. Although the weather didn’t work out for Christ the Redeemer, I loved this tour and would highly recommend it to someone. Thanks again Luis!! If I find myself in Rio again, I will be reaching out again.

We had an amazing tour of Rio with Luis. His knowledge of Rio and all the sights we visited thanks to him were fantastic. Our tour really allowed us to appreciate Rio even more and we learned a lot. We were a family of 5 and highly recommend hiring Luis when you visit Rio.

My husband and I spent a fantastic day with Luis exploring Rio! It was super fun, easy, and we learned/saw all the highlights that we wanted to make it to. We loved how flexible everything was and couldn't believe how much we were able to see in one day (without it ever feeling hectic or like we were rushing). We could not recommend a tour with Luis highly enough. We are two adults and two children (15 & 9) We experienced so much more on our two day tour with Luis than we could have dreamt of doing on our own. We visited Brazil’s ‘bucket list’ attractions, but also attractions we didn’t even know about. It was tiring but totally free of stress. We experienced all the local foods and fruits at a busy farmers market, we hand fed pieces of banana to monkeys, we were taken to breathtaking view points, we ate fruits we hadn’t previously heard of from trees in the botanical gardens. Luis was extremely knowledgable and good to be with. He’s a really nice guy who speaks impeccable English (with a New York accent). Don’t do Rio without Luis!

Luis was an amazing guide! My cousin and I booked him to visit Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer but he also brought us to Olympic Boulevard, St. Sebastian Cathedral and Selaron Steps. Our 8-hour private tour soon became an amazing 9.5 hour day in Rio without extra charge. On our way to each destination, he told us so much about the history of Rio and we made a few more short stops at historical places. He speaks very good english. A tour with Luis is not just sight seeing and attractions.. it is a Rio Experience you will never forget!

We only had a few days is Rio and booked Luis as our tour guide for the day. What a fantastic choice; he made the day very memorable for my two friends and l. We visited the statue of the Christ, Sugar Loaf Mountain and nearby beach, a local market and the beauftiful area of Santa Theresa. We rarely do guided tours and prefer to do things our way. But this time we literally had a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Rio but had only 1 single day to do so. And we chose to spend it with Luis and it was a fantastic choice. Luis is a very knowledgeable, extremely experienced guide who allowed us to see everything we wanted and much more. Luis seems to know everyone in the city, knows his way around and has shortcuts and logistics figured out so that we could completely focus on experiencing Rio with all our senses. We did the classics but we also did see some places we would definitely not have found ourselves, tasted local streetfood, even tasted some fruit directly from the trees! Luis has great ways to quickly make you familiar with the cities complex geography. He knows a lot anout its nature and all the flora and fauna you come across. And while driving Luis gave us a quick version of Brasilian history, amazing cultural heritage and allowed us a glimpse beneath the surface. Amazing, unforgettable experience. Thank you Luis!

In advance of our tour, Luis reached out to us to ask what interest we had and to arrange some highlights. He picked us up promptly from our hotel. We saw all the highlights that we had wanted to, plus he introduced us to some wonderful local spots, like the farmers market (Yum!) and an artistic neighborhood where we had lunch with locals. His English is exceptional having lived in the US for several years. He happily answered all of our questions and gave us very good overview of Brazilian life and culture. I highly recommend!

I'm glad I booked this tour. It was perfectly organised by Luis and efficiently conducted by his colleague Gus. All in perfect English. In a short time, I managed to see the most important sights. The guide also told me lots of interesting stories about the sights we visited. I especially appreciated that we were able to skip the huge line on the way to the Christ and we were up there in a short time. Without a guide and his contacts this wouldn't have been possible.

Luis was a great tour guide! We were staying out in the suburbs next to the Olympic park but Luis was able to come pick us up at our hotel. He asked what kind of sights we wanted to see, nature vs history vs popular sights, etc. Since we were only in town for two days, we opted for the overview of main sights with a great lunch spot suggested by Luis. He was friendly, informative, and it was great that he was able to give us local insights while offering suggestions of more off the beaten path places to see. In addition to the Christ and Sugarloaf l, he brought us to a local restaurant he frequents and the beautiful botanical gardens where he frequented as a child. If looking for a local tour and guide, skip the group tour and hire Luis for a custom private tour, you won’t regret it!
