- Adriaan K0 contributionsConnecting with the forestAmazing place to discover. This forest is the lungs of Rio. You can connect with the nature without leaving the city. We drank water from a waterfall, we saw monkeys jumping in the trees, plants and different types of trees. Our guide was very kind and she explained about the history of the place (including what Rio de Janeiro means) and about the animals we can find there. A tour that you can do with your family and kids.Written December 3, 2024

- sophiemN5465WA0 contributionsA really fun dayI read all the reviews before booking and they were all pretty accurate. We were picked up from our hotel at about 8am. The tour guide was super energetic and friendly and spoke very good English. We were the last group to the picked up so we started the drive to Angra. We stopped at a rest stop for the bathroom (the bus also has a bathroom) and food about half way. The guide explained in great detail (in Portuguese, Spanish, and English) what the entire day would entail. They passed around a menu and you could order food. They gave it to you right when you got on the boat. We didn’t do it but other people shared with us because they were very big portions, and it was really yummy. One order is plenty for 2 or even 3 people. We arrived at the boat at about noon and got right on. It wasn’t very crowded and was an engine powered boat (not sure why I thought it might be a sail boat). The first stop was a really great place to swim and there were lots of cool fish and some coral to see. We paid for the photography session too which was $R100 per person, so about $20 each. I think it was totally worth it. We got about 100 pictures and a video. We had plenty of time to snorkel and swim at every stop. We rented snorkels on the boat. I’m not sure how much it cost but at the end of the day my bill was $R125 for two snorkels and 2 cocktails. There is a bar on the boat that serves the whole journey. Each adult gets a free caipirinha and then you can order anything else. Lunch was at the 4th stop at about 3:30. The included buffet from Bar do Luis wasn’t great by any stretch but you could order more food and we had brought enough snacks so it was fine. After a relaxed meal we got back on the boat for about a half an hour ride back to the bus. Once back on the bus it was about 3.5hours back to Rio. It was a long day (mostly on the bus) but we knew that it would be going in. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. None of the staff except for our tour guide spoke English but he was happy to translate and we could use our phones to translate if sign language didn’t work! Overall I’m very glad that we took the trip! Make sure to bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and dry clothes for the bus ride home.Written November 1, 2024
- despok3980 contributionsUn unforgettable day in Rio de Janeiro !I had the pleasure of going on a guided tour in Rio de Janeiro with Tania from Gray Line Tours, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we started, Tania’s passion for the city shone through. She was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the culture, history and local traditions. Her warm personality made the experience even more enjoyable. She even made sure to bring me a small cake as it was my birthday to celebrate. I highly recommend Tania and Gray Line Tours as a guide for anyone visiting Rio. Her enthusiasm and expertise truly made this tour one of the highlights of my trip.Written October 27, 2024

The guide had a real challenge; 19 pax so that every seat taken in minibus. Therefore, as last pick up we ended up squashed in the middle of the back seat and uncomfortable as air conditioning inadequate. What’s more we could see nothing of the journey. Kristen worked valiantly in 3 languages but impossible to hear properly as others chatted while she spoke in a language other than theirs. We mentioned this about half way through the trip but nothing changed. One guide: 19 guests meant a lot of waiting as she worked hard to pick up stragglers - not her fault as her instructions to us were clear.
The tour company is too greedy - one guide to 19 is poor so we felt we had rotten value for money. If you are booking this trip suggest you interrogate Gray Line to establish how many on the excursion or maybe better still find another tour operator.

Good way to see the top attractions in a half day so you can also enjoy the beach in the afternoon. Our guide and driver got us to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf as expected, however we were told at the end of the tour, only after asking, that the Selaron Steps would not be included due to road closures. We understand that it was out of their control, but it was disappointing since we had paid for 3 attractions.

Dear 651aimeeh,
Thank you for your review.
Unfortunately leading up and during Carnival there might be some strees closure that really prevent us from getting to the Selaron Steps. We apologize that was the case, but do know that all attractions with tickets included were visited.
We hope to see you again in future visits.
Thank you,

My wife and I booked an all-day package tour through our hotel - Corcovado/Christ the Redeemer, Selaron Steps, a brief stop at Maracana Stadium and winding up with Pao de Acucar. A dinner was also included as an option at a Churascaria in Ipanema near my hotel.
A long day, but well worth it especially with Luis Wanderley as our guide. He was wonderful. Very impressive how he provided all the background in multiple languages while driving around. By the way, our driver Rogerio (Roger) was also awesome as he navigated the tight streets of Rio. They were both extremely professional and courteous.
I strongly recommend Gray Line tours (I had no idea they operated in Brazil) and make sure you ask for Luis.

Warley was our Tour Guide who was excellent. He was upbeat with good energy and went out of his way to assist clients at each stop by ensuring we had the best photos. Even when we went to visit the Christ Redeemer the clouds were not in our favour and Warley allowed us to wait until the clouds cleared in order to get good photos of which he assisted each and every one of us. This put the schedule to 1-1/2 hours over the allocated time for the tour. One of the best tour guides we have had. Well done Warley.

I just returned from Rio de Janeiro, and had the opportunity to join this tour under the guidance of Warley. It was a very entertaining day, where I had the opportunity to see 3 of the best attractions in Rio and much more since Warley is in charge of telling you valuable and fun information about the city on each trip. I traveled alone and at no time did I feel uncomfortable during the tour. Very good company, very good tour guide, totally recommended.

Warley and driver picked us up from our hotel on time. Warley was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He made sure we were all taken care of and got us back to our hotel on time for our airport shuttle. Would definitely recommend for people who are pressed for time and want to get the main attractions out of the way in six hours. Awesome

We had a fabulous half-day trip in Rio where we visited Christ the Redeemer, the Selaron Steps and Sugar Loaf Mountain. Warley was our welcoming, very informative and humorous guide. He put everyone at ease, was very attentive to our needs and ensured that the whole trip ran smoothly. We could not have asked for a more pleasant excursion.

Hola,
Gracias
