Upon our arrival in Rio, I called Be Free to confirm our tour. Marcelo, the owner of Be Free, answered and advised that it would be a rainy day so he would accompany another guide (Silvio) to ensure we got to see as much of Rio as possible. It did indeed rain and rain and rain but Marcelo and Silvio suggested places that turned out to be fascinating. One of the best was a visit to Royal Portuguese Reading Rooom, a public library housing over 400,000 books dating back to the 1500s. Because of the weather, we were unable to visit Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer. Marcelo shuffled commitments and we visited those iconic attractions the next day with Silvio. This is a first class, professional business with knowledgeable, personable guides who pay attention to the special needs of its customers.

All the reviews are right! This is a great tour and a great tour guide. Marcelo is instantly likable and very caring about his customers. We saw everything we wanted to see and MORE. Marcelo made planning for the tour simple and easy. He provided the tickets for the various attractions and determined all the logistics. Couldn't have been more fun or stress free. I wish all tour guides were this good. Thanks Marcelo, we decided we liked you even more than the GREAT lunch....... Take this tour!

I’m so glad we booked this tour with Be Free! I’ve had been to Rio before, but never had the courage (or enough knowledge of the city) to wonder much by myself and kept to Zona Sul. This time I was able to see so much more, from iconic sites, to natural beauty to historic buildings downtown, to markets! It was a perfect day and It left me wanting to see and explore more, but next time!
Marcelo worked directly with me via text and email and was extremely helpful in making suggestions based on my interests. Also, I was expecting to just have Marcelo with us, but instead we had Marcelo as the driver and Rafael as our guide. This makes soo much difference as we didn’t have to drive around looking for parking as they would leave us at the sites with Rafael while Marcelo would find parking.
These two were so knowledgeable, so kind, laid back and so professional. I truly enjoyed my day with them and recommend to anyone looking to get to see more of Rio.
Also, I felt so much safer walking around, taking pictures and shopping with them by my side.
Thank you Rafa and Marcelo for the amazing day and for all the pictures as well! We truly enjoyed our time with you both. Next time, Petrópolis!!
PS: Rafa loves Roberto Carlos and will more than happily play some of his good, but oldies for you 🤣!

Booking this tour with Be Free turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to South America. We scheduled this tour over a month in advance and as we approached the tour date, the weather forecast was for fog and rain. We contacted Marcelo to see if we could reschedule the tour for the next day and he was extremely accommodating. He was able to juggle his schedule a bit so that we had great weather for our tour of the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.
Touring with Marcelo was like having an old friend take you around the city. He pre-purchased all of the tickets and fast passes for the attractions so that we could utilize our time efficiently and see as much as possible. It all made for a stress free day of fun and adventure. His knowledge of this wonderful city and it's history was very impressive and we appreciated the cultural experience that this tour provides.
The highlights of this tour included Sugarloaf Mountain where we saw beautiful views and a gorgeous sunset, the Christ the Redeemer Statue with more stunning views, the 250 colorful tile steps at Escadaria Selaron, the incredible Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian, as well as a number of viewpoints with spectacular views of the city. I took hundreds of photos to commemorate this unforgettable experience in Rio de Janeiro.
The day could not have been any better and I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable day in Rio de Janeiro. From the pick up at our hotel to the drop off at the airport, the day could not have gone any smoother. Thank you Marcelo!!

Excellent tour starting at 8am and running till 4pm. Flexible and customizable schedule let us focus on what we wanted to. Guide had excellent English, was very psersonable, and helped inform us about the culture and sites.
