Wow. Julio my tour guide provided the most in-depth exceptional tour of Rio! Julio was so informative and provided an amazing opportunity to visit the most interesting people in several Rio communities. We visited the tourist spots and the hidden gems of this miraculous city. I highly recommend a visit to Rio de Janeiro and the tour!

If you're reading this you probably know how difficult it is to find a comprehensive Rio city tour in English. Flavio was superb! As was our driver, both of whom could converse in English and Flavio in several more languages. We were picked up at the pier and delivered to our hotel 7-8 hours later, so not quite a dawn to dusk tour. I did not make the arrangements very far in advance so Flavio was on the fly most of the time. His wikipedia mind pulls up info on the spot. I thought we wanted to go to the Botanical Gardens but as we drove by Parque Lage I changed my mind but he still could tell us wonderful background stories even though this wasn't in the initial discussion. We went to Selaron Steps but I was fascinated by the street art in the alley getting there. We retraced our steps to get a better view and pictures while the driver waited. I asked to see a hidden gem and our first stop was jaw dropping - the church attached to the Monastery of Sao Bento. I'm glad there were only two of us to shepherd through the maelstrom that is Christ the Redeemer on a clear Saturday. He had us sit on the best side of the train to get a fantastic view (and a clue as to when that would be) of the city below, laid down to snap the best photo of us with the statue above us. Flavio was very thoughtful of our requests, timed trips around the city to best advantage, made changes on the run. It was clearly our tour, tailored to our needs (no, I'd rather not a full lunch, snacks & beer are fine), listening and interpreting our choices, filling us in on backstories, history, why neighborhoods are named as such. He even, graciously, texted the addresses of a few restaurants to recommend near our hotel based on what we we interested in eating. Our hotel contacted me in Portuguese, I handed Flavio the phone and he took care of the rest. This tour might seem a bit expensive but for all the personal service, care and safety we experienced I would rate it higher than 5.

This tour company is top notch. Gabrielle and Jony are the best. You will not be disappointed, they go above and beyond for their customers.

It was the first time that we visited Rio and, as we had only one week available, my wife and I decided to book a personalised tour of Rio. Looking at several offers we came across ‘Be Free’ which, although a bit expensive, was promising to be the kind of trip that we were looking for. Faby (our guide) and Bruno (our driver) were amazing. They were so friendly that they made our day. Faby has been one of the best guide that we ever had (we travelled quite a lot in our live) she was knowledgeable, informative, funny and friendly. My wife and I felt to always know her, although we spent only 8 hours. Thank you Faby and Bruno, this day will remain always in our hearts. We strong recommend Marcelo and its organisation.

Had a wonderful time on this tour of Rio with Flavio as my Guide and Jony as my driver with his nerves of steal (Good Lord I would not drive in Rio). Flavio has been a guide for years and was outstanding at showing and explaining the sites and their history. We saw Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, an amazing Cathedral with amazing stained glass, a lovely Cafe for lunch and a little known historical library. I had a blast and saw and learned much of what makes Rio Rio.

If you have a day to spare in Rio, a day with Marcelo in Petrópolis would be worth your while. Well organized, coupled with good food and bit of myth and mystery, this makes a fun day out.

Fabiana and Marcello met us at the cruise terminal on time and we're very energetic and ready for a day of fun. We got to their car and they immediately began talking with us and making us feel so welcome to their country while asking us about where we were from. Throughout the full-day tour, we stopped for a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon dessert, and each time they helped us understand what we were ordering. We visited all the highlights in Petropolis and Fabiana provided excellent narration at every stop. They were a blast to spend the day with and again made us feel as if they genuinely enjoyed showing us around! I would recommend them to any future travelers to the Rio de Janeiro.

We did the tour with Flavio and Bruno and it was an excellent experience. They picked us up from the airport and we went straight for the action. Flavio was super attentive to our needs fulfilling each one of our requests. We would definitely recommend them to get to know Rio.

My husband and I had the chance to do the full day Rio tour with Gabrielle and we loved it. Gabrielle and Bruno were very gracious, flexible and accommodating. We also did the Petrópolis tour with Marcelo and experiencing Brazil from a more historical perspective felt like a complete, full experience of Rio. The communication since the tour was booked back in June/July was great! The service was great and the overall experience was amazing.

Amazing views, Flávio is a very knowledgeable guide who made sure we saw everything we wanted to and found the best place for lunch.

We started the day exploring the highlights of Rio including Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf and then had a fantastic, authentic Brazilian lunch. During lunch Fabi gave us options as to what we could do for the afternoon. We chose to explore Centro and then saw the Selaron steps and the Metropolitan Cathedral. It was an enjoyable day, Fabi was a great guide, and Junior was a friendly driver. We highly recommend this tour.

Flavio is an excellent guide, knowledgeable, kind, flexible. It was a real pleasure to get a first taste of Rio de Janeiro with him. Not to forget Carlos, our driver, efficient and safe. We do recommend.

My two kids (7 and 9), my wife and myself joined a private tour with Bruno (driver) and Flavio (guide) in spanish yesterday. They did a really amazing job, making logistics very efficient so we could get the most of the day and finding the best spots and way to more around. Flavio is very knowledgeable, explained very well each of the sites and made it educational and friendly for the kids who really enjoyed it as well.

My family of 4 (parents and 2 young adults) had an amazing day with our guide, Rafael, touring Rio. Rafael scheduled a day that provided us with being in the right place at the right time all day long, while accommodating our interests and needs. We were picked up bright and early at our hotel and spent the day taking in as much of Rio as we could. From where to sit, stand, pose, Rafael, knew right where we should be to get the best views and pictures. And we did! We spent the day marveling at the views and sites. His expert knowledge of Rio was top notch and kept us all engaged and entertained. Our daughter has lived as an exchange student in Brazil and is an anthroplogy major with a focus on Brazil and knew some of the information, so Rafael would go more in depth. Our family enjoyed spending the day discussing the history, art, language, and culture of Brazil. We visited the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, the Steps, the Cathedral, the Royal Reading Room, the port, and ate some of the most amazing feijoada and moqueca for lunch. The skip the line tickets for both the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf allowed us to pack in so much to one day. We highly recommend this tour. Rafael is a passionate, experienced, professional tour guide. Having a private guide when you only have 2½ days in Rio was a good use of our travel funds for us. The great thing is BeFree has a wide range of tours to meet travellers' needs.
