Best way to see Rio in one day
The best way to see Rio de Janeiro in one day! Our guide took us to highlights like the beaches and the famous steps but also to the homebases of the big Rio football teams, an impressive old cemetery and good places to eat and have cafezinho. We recommend this tour to everybody, who likes to feel part of this big and beautiful city, cycling along the bike lanes and through the smaller streets.

      Gratis tour, gratis guide
We (almost 69 and 74 year³s) drove about 35 km in the 7- hours tour, so that was easy. Marco told a lot about live in Brasil and especially in Rio. All the things written in other reviews below are true. The owner and Marco, our guide, are relaxed people full of trust. We had a tasty lunch too. And there were no other tourists with us, but that was no problem for Riobikes. Thanks Marco for this wonderfull day!

      Wonderful Bike Tour of Rio
Wonderful Bike Tour of Rio We love to take bike tours of the major cities we visit throughout the world. Marco was our guide for an excellent tour of Rio. We biked from 9 AM – 4 PM throughout the entire city and were able to see many of the main attractions (Sugerloaf, beaches, harbors, Christ the Redeemer, Cemetery, downtown buildings, etc.) from different vantage points. Marco was a very personable and really helped us learn about the city that he knows and loves. Great tour! Highly recommend!

Had a great few hours. Learnt a lot about Rio
Booked a 3 hour cycle tour. Enjoyed every minute. A really good positive way to familiarise yourself with the Urban landscape. Excellent English speaking guide. Our tour leader had moved from Holland to Brazil and had that extra understanding of what the city had to offer. A great route mostly on cycle paths. Good pace and lots of interesting and honest information. On their recommendation we also visited other areas via the metro. Great day. A easy way to see the immediate neighbourhood of Copacabana. Bikes worked well.

Great day with a great guide
We booked a 7 hour bike tour through Rio. When we arrived , I was surprised that it was only us. Apparently, most people want a shorter tour. OUR GAIN It was a great day. The weather was overcast, so luckily the sun was not beating down on us, which gave way to a very pleasant day. The ride was very easy, mostly all flat terrain, and most on bike paths. Marco was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend a day with. I highly recommend the company.

      Excellent your with Ulysses
Two of us did the full day tour with Ulysses. Bikes were fine - single speed and not for the Tour de France but good for riding around Rio for a a few hours. Most of the route was on cycle track and very flat. The route was interesting and Ulysses was fun and informative.

Amazing way to see Rio’s neighbourhoods
Myself and my partner are from Glasgow and we were delighted to meet a few guys that spoke perfect english (being from the Netherlands), as our Portuguese isn’t up to scratch! The bike tour with Zan was great, he really knew his stuff about Rio as he has been there for 6/7 years. We got to see all of the main parts of Flamengo and Botafogo etc which was great fun and Zan taught us a good bit about life in Rio. He took us to a few cool places for photographs which was a bonus. The bikes are easy to ride and most of the journey is flat apart from one hill, which isn’t very difficult. I would recommend that you do this either on a sunday or a public holiday as a lot of roads are closed to vehicles and it makes the trip a lot safer and easier! The tour lasted 4 hours which was plenty of time to get around and you don’t need to pay until the end of the tour. Also, if you did not like the tour, you do not need to pay - but I know you definitely will. I would thoroughly recommend you add this to your To Do list if you are visiting Rio, even for a couple of days. The next time I ride a dutch bike will be when I visit the Netherlands and sadly not Rio, but if I get the chance to go back to this awesome city I will be booking a Riobybike tour for sure! Have fun!

      Fantastic bike tour!!
I booked a trip for a few hours of Urban Urban bicycle tour. It turned out that I was the only customer of that day. So I had my private guide. Ulysses proved to be a very knowledgeable guide. The trip was very interesting. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Rio with Rio By Bike. Next time I will go for a bike trip with the same company but a different route

Great way to see more of Rio
Biking around Rio gave me a better sense of the city as a whole. Saw attractions I would have missed, like Carmen Miranda’s gravesite, and ones on the usual list. Bicycle was great. Max was a great guide. Exactly what I was hoping for.

      Great way to see Rio
We had a great day with Rio by Bike (7 hour tour). You see many of the most famous sites in Rio, but from a different angle to those who just visit Sugarloaf, Christ the Redeemer, and the beaches. It was also an ideal activity on a day when visibility at the top of the mountains would have been poor (we saw the summits and their landmarks emerging every now and then from the clouds). Despite a bit of rain, the tour went ahead - and the rain was actually quite refreshing. Doing the tour on our first day was also great - helping to give a sense of where we wanted to explore further. Our guide was knowledgable about Rio (past and present), giving lots of tips on how to make the most of our visit to the city.

What an awesome way to spend your first day in Rio! On a bike. We booked the Panoramic bike tour with this company and had such great fun. Our group was diverse and luckily not more than six people, from Europe and a couple from Canada. The guide was a local with good English. His information during the tour contained more than just some facts about the sights and the different neighborhoods, we also got a lot of insight in the local culture and customs. I really liked that aspect. The bicycles were good, with hand breaks and no gears - the route was basically flat. Helmets were also provided for. If you go, bring sun block and drink a lot of water. It can get hot in Rio.

We were promptly received outside the Rio Othon hotel, Copacabana meeting point by Jan with whom I organised the tour a week prior and Marco who took us on the tour on the actual day.

The bike tour is really informative, professionally structured and well executed. Marco has a wealth of knowledge about Brazil’s history as well as the various points we stop at and ensures you are given all of the details.

We most certainly enjoyed the overall tour and went away with plenty of knowledge about Rio and Brazil.

The tour we selected was the 4hour panoramic one which lasts the entire time period from start to finish. The actual bike ride although lengthy it may be, about 28kilometres round trip, the gentle pace is relaxing and enjoyable indeed.

A must tour for everyone who visits Rio.

I had an excellent time with Rio by bike. I was travelling solo in January 2020 and bumped into Rio by bike on trip advisor. Calling and booking was super easy. On the day of my ride, I was the only one on the tour and I appreciate the fact that they didn’t cancel it because of too few people- they ended up taking me on a solo tour which was brilliant.
The tour guide cycled at my pace so I didn’t feel rushed, had a good knowledge of the city and we stopped for a refreshing coconut break. We took loads of photos and I appreciated Rio’s beauty the more.

Most of the cycling is on bike lanes and by water; what’s not to love? It was awesome and I would recommend! Also the
açaí berry sold at the store next door to the Rio by bike shop is amazing!

Booked a tour last minute, due to my plans not being set in stone. Rio by bike was able to accommodate me. Jan was on time and met me to give me all the info regarding the tour, had a map and was able to make an adjustment since I had already seen one of the attractions on the tour and change it out for something else. I was the only one of the tour due to the pandemic and tourism being down. I had an excellent time seeing all parts of the city while learning about history, culture and life in Brazil. I highly recommend this bike tour company. Also, the roads were pretty flat so even if you are not an experienced biker you can do it! Loved seeing the city this way, traffic was not bad either so no concerns, there are also a lot of bike lanes which will help you feel safe. Book it!

The tour itself was great as we got a chance to see Rio's cemetery (it was quite similar to the Recolet in Buenos Aires), saw the famous Lapa stairs, got to see the center of Brazil and other places we wouldn't have seen on our own.

It would have gotten full marks from me if the guide was more attentive to where everyone was on the tour (left people behind 3 times), knew how to speak on delicate matters such as; the racism in Brazil and cultural division, the church's opinion on where the country is and sexist comments once we arrived back at the office.

Someone from our group also got harassed by a homeless local in the center and the guide did NOTHING. I would have not expected him to go full superman mode but a guided responsibility is to look after the group. Specially considering that Brazil can be quite dangerous.

I have been on other bike tours and this was definitely one I would remember for the wrong reasons.

The perfect way to understand the history of the city, it's values and where to go! 🙏

The guides took us to the most interesting spots in town telling us the most amazing things. From amazing hikes with incredible views, to bike tours through the city and even going into favelas like you are one of the community. Friendly, thoughtful guides with who you can have a talk about anything.

I would always recommend these guys! 👊

The Rio by bike is a great tour for anyone wanting to explore Rio. Our guide was really informative and the route is almost all on bike lanes so is accessible to all levels. It was raining when we arrived in the morning for our tour but Jan was very accommodating and let us join the afternoon group and gave us some suggestions of places to eat and see to fill our time. A really nice team and definitely worth booking!

A fun alternative way to explore the lovely city of Rio. Our guide Ulyses was great, friendly and helpful. He chose a great route to see many sights. Only downside, the bikes are a bit old, with no gears so after about4 hrs, you feel it. A bit of hard work! Still enjoyed it.

We have done a LOT of city bike rides, all over the world. So we know when it’s good and this was definitely great. We were late (useless Uber driver) but our guide was totally chilled and couldn’t have been more accommodating. He managed to get the balance right with the amount of information, plenty of rest stops, plenty of drinks and he certainly knew the city well. Plus a great sense of humour and lots of tips of places to go and restaurants. Thank you, Ulysses!
