          Overpriced, entry tickets not included
Misleading, you are just paying for the travel to the statue where you only get around 40 minutes. The tour guide also spoke minimally about the view because many others were going to Sugar Loaf mountain after and would see similar views, so again using this tour option I didn’t get an actual tour. It is very overpriced considering this. I opted out of the journey back in order to spend more time at the statue and enjoy the cafe. I asked the operator to consider these factors and offer a partial refund but they said no. Yes the terms are listed in the T&Cs of the tour but for the price you would think entrance is included, something that is normal in most tours. My original booking was also cancelled as they didn’t have availability. They didn’t let me know until the evening before either so I had to re-arrange my plans last minute. I wish I just cancelled now!!!!

          Poor description tour
The driver Valdemar and guide Sabina were great, very friendly, and helpful. However, we purchased this tour by the title: " Corcovado and Christ Statue," but they never mentioned this is JUST the ride to the place. It does not include any entrance. So DON'T buy this if you want to go to the Christ. This is a poor description of what you will get. The title should have said: TRANSPORTATION ONLY to the Sugarloaf & Christ! You either buy a full package with transportation and entrance included or get this transportation ticket and be willing to pay additional there.

          Don’t hesitate to hire Gisela!
Gisela was an incredible guide! She went above and beyond. We had a custom itinerary that she followed perfectly. We had more time than we expected, and she filled it with awesome experiences we hadn’t planned. She also went out of her way to point out interesting things about Rio along the way. Our group couldn’t speak Portuguese, and her English was exceptional. We highly recommend hiring her if you’re wanting to tour Rio!

The guide you want to get where you’re going
I had such a great time on this tour! Aside from how cool Christ the redeemer is close up, and the experience in general, my guide Gabriel was fantastic. He was engaging and passionate to share his vast knowledge and knew everybody who worked at the sites.. Everyone was excited to see him and talk to him and that made the experience feel much more personal and welcoming. He puts a lot of care and effort into making sure that you have a good time and that the people around him are happy. It was a very nice personal touch and a bright spot on a rainy day.

Great but cut full tour short, no partial refund
Guide was great. The first half was great but the second half is problematic: 1 Macarena stop (30+ mins drive for 3-5 mins in the blaring sun without shade for a statue, and you can't even see inside the stadium) shouldn't exist. 2 We were intially denied entry into Sao Bento (which the inside is the ONLY reason to visit. There is no explanation here. 3 Seleron streets were closed (as they could've/should have) anticipated, and we werent even able to park somewhere to walk and see it. Even lunch is an extra $25USD (EXPENSIVE)and for carnivores and people with large appetites (buffet) which I am not, so had to scramble to find something in 45 mins and initially, thanks to closed places and incorrect orders, did not! They should ONLY be selling half day tours during Carnival week. And NO macarena! This is a money grab. I would have rated the half day 5 stars.

          Excellent day trip in Rio
We booked CariocaTropical for a half day trip in Rio, because we were very limited in time. Gisela and her driver organized anything in an excellent manner, they picked us up at the hotel and we were on time at the airport! Thank you Gisela for your sophisticated outstanding tour! Matthias

4 days exploring Rio de Janeiro
Before and during our 4 days tour of Rio de Janeiro, the communication with Gisela has been excellent! She is a pleasure to be with. Has a vast knowledge of the city and shares her knowledge in such a natural way that we actually remembered it all. We felt very safe with her and her excellent drivers during our 4 days together. Needless to say we enjoyed exploring Rio de Janeiro with Gisela!

Terrific introduction to Rio, great guide!
Sergio met us at our hotel and took us from Copacabana Beach into downtown Rio and back. Really got the feel of the city riding the metro, walking the city streets and learning about the history, architecture, people, food, and culture. Sergio tailored our walk based on our interests and willingness to see even more than we expected. He was a relaxed, personable, and informative guide. Highly recommend!

          Incredible
Just the best! Amazing energy and aura from Victoria really made our experience even sweeter. My son & I traveled very far just for this attraction & im so fortunate to have found such a great tour company to make our visit absolutely magical. The views were breathtaking. Our photos are flawless! Taking the tour first thing we were on the first bus up. It’s just my son and I in our photos. Exactly what we wanted! Definitely a must do tour with this company.

It is iconic and a 'must see', but an experience of chaos if busy....
If visiting Rio, the site of Christ the Redeemer, is a 'must do'. It is iconic. The views up there are fantastic (although be aware that the pinnacle is so high up, there can be clouds obscuring the view). On the day we went, fortunately they parted. There are various ways up there. We think it is amazing that anyone could actually hike it (incidentally, we heard of armed bandits recently robbing a group of hikers in the forest trails, way below the site). From a distance, you get the perspective of just how steep and high the peak actually is... We took a minibus with joint entry ticket deal (leaving from Poste 2 in Copacabana). The journey up is great, but the arrival point at a vehicle staging post was a scene of chaos....You sort of work out where the queue is. It took nearly half an hour to reach the turnstile. Our ticket featured a bar-code (journey/entry ticket)- we showed the image code on our mobiles to the attendant at the turnstiles. It may be confusing as other people at that point are looking to buy entry tickets. In eventually getting through the managed turnstiles you then join another queue. Some of the queue lines are undercover but other parts not- beware hot sunshine or potentially heavy downpours (a fold up umbrella is useful). The second queue weaves about until you reach a staging post for a shuttle of minivans. These drop you off near the base of the statue - there are steps or use of lift (aka elevator) to reach the decking area. Around the base of the statue the decks have amazing views in all directions. It was absolutely packed up there but the effort is worthwhile. It may be worth considering the time of day to visit- we arrived at about 10.30am. In leaving there is another queue, waiting for the shuttle bus down to the initial staging post (again no outdoor cover- so be aware!)

Strongly recommend for a relatively quiet trip to the statue
After an early pick up, the guide gave us a commentary on Rio en route to Corcovado. By the time we got up to the top, there were only a few tourists around. This meant we were able to get a nice picture of the statue with being crowded. By the time we had walked around and seen the rest of the views the place was packed! So grateful that found this tour. The tour guide was also nice enough to take photos for us.

This tour was fantastic! About 14 people on a very nice bus. Our guide was Kiko and he was very knowledgeable and spoke brilliant English and Portunol. He gave us a lot of history and was very funny. Everything was timely. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

My family and adult children visited Rio over Thanksgiving and scheduled this tour. Leondardo was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable about not only the Jewish heritage and customs in Rio, but lots of other history in Rio and Brazil. He and his driver got us around the City to see many different areas and temples. I would highly recommend this tour and any other tour that Leonardo is guiding. He was terrific!

We can fully recommend Gisela and her team for the interesting Jewish heritage tour we had of Rio in early February. Between Gisela herself and Leonardo – who accompanied us to various sites including synagogues and other sites of Jewish significance -- we got a good impression of Jewish life and sites of Rio. Leonardo accompanied us on a fabulous tour of synagogues and the Jewish museum that holds some interesting artifacts, explaining various items and aspects to us. In addition, while driving from site to site we engaged in interesting discussions about the history of Jews in Brazil and the Caribbean. And if you are lucky enough, Leonardo will entertain you during one of those rides with the singing of the Girl from Ipanema. Some of his hidden talents!

We were picked up promptly from our hotel lobby by Leonardo (not di Caprio, nor da Vinci - he was keen to let us know!). We were given a brief introduction to Leonardo’s personal family background and how and in what circumstances his parents arrived in Brazil, in the 1920s/30s.

Leonardo gave us a potted history of the Jews since the Spanish and Portuguese inquisition in 1492 and the arrival of Gaspar da Gama in Brazil. He was very informative and gave us just enough factual history without bombarding us with detail.

We were first taken to the Chabad Synagogue in Leblon, and were shown around the inside, with the beautiful aron kodesh and bimah. We met a few members here who greeted us with a friendly ‘shalom’! We were then shown the outside of the Midrash building, which is a popular arts and community centre for the Jews of Rio.

We were taken to 3 other stunning synagogues, all very different in style, build and origin; the Moroccan one displaying all the Ner Tamidim brought over by members fleeing from their Sephardi communities in the early part of the last century; the 10 year old modern style German reform Synagogue with its very own organ; and the ‘pièce de résistance’, the magnificent Florence-inspired Grand Temple, with its theatre style interior. We also stopped at Rabin Park which had a monument to honour Itzhak Rabin, as well as a Holocaust Memorial, set in a small park with the best view in Rio, overlooking the beach, Sugar Loaf mountain and other famous Rio landmarks.

We stopped at the Jewish Museum where they had a plethora of chanukiot on display, some dating back to the 1600s, as well as some megillot Esther, and other artefacts of Judaica which each had a story of their own to tell.

We passed the Mayan pyramid-inspired cathedral, the Grand Opera House, as well as many other historic sights of Jewish and secular interest, such as the school bearing Anne Frank’s name, situated directly opposite the now derelict German Embassy, one of the many favelas, the commercial district of Rio, the lagoon where rowing took place during the Olympic Games, Ipanema beach, (meaning ‘bad water here’),so-called to deter the Portuguese from settling here by the indigenous Brazilians, the Copacabana and Leblon Districts, and loads more...

Leonardo impressed us with his Yiddish humour, historic naus, his heart-rending version of “The Girl From Ipanema” and his excellent spoken English (and Spanish), and he gave us the opportunity to learn about Jewish life past and present in Rio, in the presence of his company, and the comfort of his air-condioned car.

Thank you again for making our day so memorable, and for capturing some of our special moments on your phone! Obrigado/a!
