About the operator
- Danielle A00Great time with Wilson!Wilson was an excellent tour guide. He was so passionate and knowledgeable. We absolutely loved our time with him. We even ran into a couple of his family members on the tour, and someone he tutored, which made the tour even more fun and exciting. Wilson is the best.
- Adventure2277042021000Good but could be betterGreat experience but it didn't help that the tour company informed me a night before they didn't have English translator which can be a massive inconvenience especially if it's already planned as part of the vacation. Also I think it's better to stay there one night, especially with the 4..5hr journey there and back you don't get the full experience of the island
- carlaoX5433NS00Even vegans can have fun!I had such a great time, Vagner is an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge. He gave me tips on how to stay safe and even helped me order vegan street food. I highly recommend this tour group!! I also recommend checking on line when places are open, a lot are closed on sundays.
- saracO9032QS00We loved our experienceOur experience was amazing and a highlight of our trip. Our guide Andre was knowledgeable and fantastic! Our Chef Antonia and her family treated us like family. We are grateful for this experience and can't wait to make Moqueca back home in North Carolina, USA. Obrigada!
- LMWanyeki00Worth it!The guide was excellent...professional, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. We visited Fon and Yoruba shrines...while no ceremony was underway, helped understand the role Candomble has played in Afro-Brazilian life, past and present. Well worth it!
- LMWanyeki00If you do one thing in Salvador, do this!!!The pre-drink venue was interesting (busy and good cachaca shot with vanilla). The show was just excellent...good round-up of Afro-Brazilian resistance and experience...really enjoyed it. The dinner was at a fabulous venue but the meal choices weren't the best that they offer (I'd eaten there before and chosen a Bahian dish which was amazing). The guide was fantastic...full of life and stories and brought the whole experience alive!!!

- SarahMK202219982400Super tour to learn about the Pelourinho and Salvador. We really enjoyed this walking tour of Pelourinho and other parts of the Bay in Salvador. Our guide was Jorge and he was excellent, kind and friendly. He has so much information about the city and it was just fascinating to learn. It was our first time in Salvador and it was the perfect tour to do on our first day. Thank you Jorge!
- 965liliy00A MUST do tour if you want to explore and learn about the rich African History in Salvador, BahiaOur tour guide, Vagner, was amazing! He spoke English well. This tour was definitely my favorite, or at the very least, second favorite tour of our one-week Brazil trip. We visited different museums and Vagner helped explain the history and culture behind many of what we saw. (If you use google translate and the camera option in this app, you can also translate Portuguese words/menus/descriptions in museums from Portuguese to your language). I highly do NOT recommend keeping your phone in your hand or holding it up, and was thankful Vagner explained things so well with so much knowledge. I felt like we saw the entire city with this tour. We went into favela-like areas, went into a vodun worship area, met the doctor, who invited us for lunch. We went to all the tourist hot spots. We went to the large market, saw livestock being sold, meat being butchered, spices, voodoo dolls, and so much more. This tour is definitely a MUST if you want to explore the deep culture of Salvador in a safe way with a knowledgeable tour guide and driver.
- elenaa81800Nice tour also for solo travelerVery interesting tour around the city with experienced guide. Visited both historical sites as well as well-known places for fun and entertainment. Would recommend to have a glimpse of the whole city!
- Marta R00Fantastic experience!Fantastic experience! We learned a lot about Candomblé religion. Sacrifices and Candomblé rituals are performed in the house where we went with our tourist guide, Nilson. We saw the various shrines and learned about the customs of those who start the religion. Very interesting!
- Simon P00Excellent 4 hour tourVery informative and knowledgeable guide, found out some interesting facts about Salvador and took in the best views of the city.
- Mobile1036616871100Salvador intro + great conversation + fresh moqueca - best way to start your visit!Josuel was responsive and accommodating of my shrimp allergy (shrimp is in many foods in Bahia, beware!) right from the beginning. He's super friendly and easy to talk to and so inviting with his way of opening Bahian culture and history. He took us to the Feira de São Joaquim, which would have been completely overwhelming but was instead fascinating under his gentle guidance. He's not talking all the time but allowing us to explore and pointing out some curiosities. Back at his house, we made moqueca together and ate it and drank some wine while talking about education in Brazil (he's also a public school teacher). His Portuguese is quite understandable, and he also speaks English. He's been a guide for 20+ years here and it is apparent. He really knows this place and our experience was richer for his knowledge. Great way to spend a few hours in a new city!!!
- TroyParent00Rich , personalized experience with a master tour guideNilson is a great tour guide, historian, teacher and linguist who was able to bring the rich culture of Salvador alive with storytelling and lived experience.I experienced the established sites and incredible experiences off the beaten path.
- RuthRuttaRuthie00ExcellentThe tour was excellent - I really liked the ability of my guide to tailor the topic areas I was interested in- Focus on the black experience in Salvador. I hope to come back with my family.

My husband and I booked the 6-hour tour encompassing both the old and the new town. Pick-up from our pousada in Pelourinho had been arranged for 8 o’clock. Just before 8.30 Sidney, our driver, turned up out of breath. There had been a misunderstanding as to the exact name of our pousada and he and our guide Vagner were scouring the area for possible pick-up addresses to find us. Once we had all found each other, it was plain sailing and we had a great tour! Both Vagner and Sidney were lovely – Vagner turned out to be a former teacher of English and Philosophy and was a fascinating guy to talk to who took his job very seriously. Sidney was a laugh and just injected the tour with his sense of fun! Tour of the cidade baixa included the lighthouse, several forts and beaches, the orixas lake, an azulejo studio and the Basilica do nosso Senhor do Bomfim (don’t miss the wax body parts donated by people who were cured of a disease!); we then took the Lareda elevator to the cidade alta and saw some of the most breath-taking colonial architecture in the world – the church and convent of Sao Francisco, the Igreja da Senhora de Rosario dos Pretos (a church the slaves had to fund and build themselves as the white elite would not allow them into their churches after forcibly converting them to Christianity!), the amazing Pelourinho district with its beautifully restored colourful houses, several African heritage sites and much more. Vagner told us in great detail and with much passion and insight about African religion and the history of slavery in Bahia. It was a fascinating tour (which overran the specified 6 hours by a fair bit) and we got so much out of it. Muito obrigada Vagner e Sydney!

Great tour to see the highlights of Salvador. Guide was very knowledgeable. We added a bit of a mini “food tour” along the way. Fun way to spend the day!

I enjoyed this tour a lot. My guide was amazing!! I got to learn so much about the city and the culture, it gave me a lot of inspiration and a greater understanding of the people of Salvador. It was nice to end the day with some relaxing on the beach. I highly recommend this tour to everyone! A memorable experience! 👌👏

For our private tour we had Wagner as our guide and Fabio as our driver. Both men were so courteous and attentive the whole time. Wagner is gracious and speaks very good English and his knowledge of the history and culture of Bahia was expansive and detailed. We felt that we learned a lot. Well worth the price and we would book again.
Thank you so much for everything!

What is the difference between the 4 hour private city tour and the 6 hour Salvador essential Private 6 hour tour. What do we see on the 6 hour tour that we won’t see on the 4 hour tour?
