- Relax128523875320 contributionsWell worth it.Had Nilson (or Ni) as a guide. Extremely passionate about his city of Salvador. Can speak multiple languages, has the info about almost everything you could ask about in the tour. A great cameraman also. He showed me around the city. We walked to the beaches and some important landmarks. He explained the history and the context for pretty much everything we came across. I think my favorite part of the tour was going to open air market. It was quite an experience for the senses. It was a great tour especially since I had no knowledge of Salvador before coming to Brazil. Ni gave me tons of great info that a lot of people won’t have. He put in the time and research to know everything you could want to know during the tour. Please book with this company. And hopefully you have a great experience as I did.Written September 27, 2024
- Navigator516000543350 contributionsOne great tourThis tour is a must if you want to learn about the culture. Vanger really knew the history and explained it in terms the you could absorb it easily. Just be prepared to really see lower city. He will immerse you in the culture. And for an added surprise we were invited in to the percussion school where the best percussionist have trained. I really enjoyed the market there was a lot to see, and the people were fanstatiic. I highly recommend this tour!!!!Written September 17, 2024
- Jerone_Vessels0 contributionsExceptional guides, great cultural experiencesThe experiences delivered by Your Tour Brazil were great. In the planning process, Marcos was clear with the tour options and details as well as pricing. He also arranged airport transfers, which were timely and convenient. Ariana is a great driver!! The tours were very informative and engaging. André was very informative and organized, and really knowledgeable with the Cultural Show and Dinner experience. He is a very engaging person and shared his experiences as a native of Salvador. He also introduced us to local community leaders. We could spend so much more time with him. Wilson was exceptional! Being a historian, he is of the most informative guides we have worked with. Being a great storyteller, we gained great insight into the origins of Salvador and African-Brazilian culture. We learned so much from him, laughed a lot, and enjoyed singing with him between stops. Not to mention dancing to the drums. And the food was fantastic on both tours!! Overall execution of the tours was flawless. The guides were unbelievably good! We appreciate the excellent service. Five stars to Your Tour Brazil ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Written September 17, 2024
- reginaldr3710 contributionsGreat introduction to Candomble in SalvadorThis was a very informative tour about the practice of Candomble in Salvador. Vagner was very knowledgeable and well informed.Written August 29, 2024
- 997tracyt0 contributionsHighly recommend the four-hour tour!Monia was an amazing tour guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and adapted the tour to suit our needs. - jaredg5720 contributionsImmersive Salvador Tour: A Journey Through African and Black HeritageHere is what you get with this: A tour of Salvador that centers on African/Black experience, history, and culture, conducted by a team of passionate locals who keep it both informative and engaging. Highly recommended. Our tour guide, Nilson, was great — he mixed anecdotes, historical background, observation, and humor with, making the experience fun and fulfilling. It is long, so come prepared with what you need, but the air-conditioned car is never far away.Written July 31, 2024
- Charlotte C0 contributionsWonderful insight into Salvador, its people, and its history. Highly recommend.I cannot recommend this tour enough! It is a great perspective of the city sights & chance to learn a very crucial part of its history. The dedicated driver included in the tour is a real asset, it allows you to see so much. Vagner my guide was amazing, his knowledge on these topic is huge with many interesting little facts that make the experience that much more enriching! The tour answered many questions I had about Afro-Brasil faith and atrocities which they have been subject to. It has allowed me to comprehend more than I could have seeing these sights on my own, especially being an English speaker and only knowing a little Portuguese. Thank you again to Vagner for teaching me so much, I will never see the world the same again!Written July 11, 2024
- annassse0 contributionsA must do in Salvador! This was the highlight of my tours in Salvador! Wagner the guide has a deep social and anthropological knowledge of both Salvador and the places of this tour and the conversation was super interesting. This tour lets you see unforgettable places and more importantly gives you experiences of authenticity that complement and go beyond the other tours!Written June 18, 2024
- carolyndfox0 contributionsAn amazing tourThis was a wonderful tour that really helped me understand the background, history, and present day practices of the Candomble. Vagner was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job.Written June 1, 2024
- gerryh7520 contributionsExhilarating Country Excursion! This is a full day tour which takes you to the rural areas that were the former sugar cane plantations outside of Salvador. Ronaldo was our guide and gave a full explanation of the relevance of the area. Particularly interesting was the visit to the local market where we tasted different fruits and vegetables. We happened upon an impromptu capoeira ( African martial arts) in the market which was exciting. The colonial villages are unique and highly colorful in different hues. We went to a small African centered catholic church and museum which reflected the practices of Black female worshipers. We also visited one of the oldest cigar factories, and concluded our visit with a terrific lunch overlooking one of the most scenic river valley. I would highly recommend this tour to explore and understand the rich Black cultural history of Bahia. Be sure to ask for Ronaldo!Written May 12, 2024
- gerryh7520 contributionsCultural Religious InsightWe did this tour on the morning of our departure, and Vagner, our tour guide was very conscious about meeting our time line for returning to the hotel for our flight. His explanations of the Fon and Yoruba African traditions and catholicism were comprehensive and gave insight into Afro Brazilian religious culture. Along with visiting a local market and highlighting herbs and clothing used in religious practices and ceremonies we also visited a shrine to water and a shrine within a Favela where candomble is still practiced! This is a great tour for learning more about the African traditions in Brazil, and I would highly recommend it!Written May 1, 2024
- gerryh7520 contributionsOutstanding Cultural Evening!Alex was a great guide. He met us promptly at the hotel and was very knowledgeable about the different sections of the performance and meanings of the various performances. His energy and enthusiasm was infectious! The Bale Folklorico was outstanding. The dinner that was included with the tour was at one of the highly recommended restaurants in the historic center. A great evening and I would highly recommend the tour. Make sure to ask for Alex as your guide!Written April 27, 2024
- josemL2982HJ0 contributionsA Nightmare Experience with Viator and Your Tour Brazil - Never Again!I was eagerly anticipating to participate on the tour booked through Viator (Finally operated by thee Agency Your Tour Brazil) only to be ill the night the night before. For my better wellbeing and in order not to disturb the experience of other I decided to not participate in the tour (that started at 5 AM and I was recovering at until at least 11 AM of the same day). Despite my desperate attempts to seek understanding and a refund, I was met with cold, heartless responses from both companies. Despite providing detailed information about my illness, including the fact that I had to take medication and could not attend the tour for fear of endangering others, both Viator and Your Tour Brazil callously refused to issue a refund. According to them, in this condition I should have participated on the tour and made the experience of other terrible by having the transport van stop every 1h to go to the loo or vomit than to do what i did, decide to stay at home. It's appalling that they prioritize profit over basic human decency and customer well-being. Their refusal to acknowledge the severity of my situation and the potential consequences of attending the tour while ill is beyond comprehension. It's clear that their policies are designed to benefit only themselves, with no regard for the well-being of their customers. My advice to anyone considering booking with Viator or Your Tour Brazil to think twice. Their lack of empathy, compassion, and understanding is utterly deplorable. Save yourself the trouble and avoid them at all costs. They are not worth the headache. Knowing what i know now, my advice is do first a walking tour and speak with some tour agencies locally, you will get better prices and more compassion and understanding and you can have abetter feel of the offers they have. Viator and Your Tour Brazil should be ashamed of themselves for their despicable behavior. I will never trust them with my travel plans again.Written April 1, 2024
- neiltA709UY0 contributionsGreat show and meal, but not exactly as advertised. My travel consultant booked this through Viator, and gave me the information contained in the link. It was definitely NOT as advertised, but was still an excellent evening, which is why I gave "the experience" five stars. I doubt that the problem lies with Your Tour Brazil. There was no walking tour of Pelourinho. It was NOT "four hours of cultural activity." It began with a one hour show by Balé Folclórico da Bahia at Teatro Miguel Santana. It was NOT a Bahian buffet, but a dinner after the show at Cuco Bistrô, which required an order to be placed in advance choosing from a fairly limited range of options. The meal was excellent, but it was disappointing to not be able to sample a range of traditional Bahian food. That said, the show was fantastic, and the meal was excellent. An English-speaking guide (Alex) met me upon arrival in Pelourinho and he was very helpful. Finally, the price paid to Viator was a total rip-off. As you can see from the link, it should have been under $200 CAD. I paid $214.29 USD (almost $300 CAD).Written March 20, 2024

This tour was an excellent and efficient way to learn about the history and culture of the Reconcavo region. The guides were very knowledgeable. If I were trying to cover the same distance, amount of learning, and sights on my own, it would have taken mulitple days (if even possible at all). Having the guide was instrumental for me. I really enjoyed myself, learned a lot from the guides, and hope to go back to spend a few days in this region in the future. The tour was a really good initial visit!

This was a great experience visiting Santo Amaro and the Quilombo de Kaonge! We briefly passed through the town of Santo Amaro and learned about different foods and other things as we walked through the market and one of the churches. The guide, Milla, was amazing and really helped us learn about the place we were visiting. Once in the Quilombo, we learned about a few different ancestral practices before ending the day with a nice lunch. Overall, I really enjoyed this tour and I would highly recommend it!
