About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- alexlY6499LP0 contributionsThree day, two night jungle lodge adventureI booked a three day, two night tour. The adventure was well organised, from airport pickup through to transport to the lodge and then transport back and dropoff at the hotel I was staying at in Manaus. I spoke with some other people who did the exact same tour though, and they paid half what I did, and I was guided by a different operator, and not Leo or his team. We didn't go to the Paricatuba region mentioned in the guide either, but to a different lodge, Ipanama Lodge on the Parana do Mamori, which has less stars on Google reviews. The lodge was ok, but very basic. Food was the same every day. The people were lovely, of course! I had an amazing, if sometimes difficult time, and the guide was awesome. We caught pirana, saw river dolphins and camped overnight and walked for hours in the jungle, but still, I think that I should have booked direct with a lodge rather than go through this third party. Also note that sloths, toucan, monkeys and other creatures are hard to spot! I emailed Leo about the cost, and about some details, and he responded with a grumpy email saying I accused him of being a thief, which was a little unpleasant.Written December 11, 2024
- S1862PIjosephm0 contributionsAmazing ExperienceBeing only able to speak English, and having done other tours where this was problematic, Billy made sure that he included me in all conversations, throughout, not just as a “tagline” at the end of the conversation in Portuguese. From the moment Billy met me at my hotel, I knew that this was going to be a professional tour, unlike previous tours I had done the two days prior, with another business. Along the drive to our boat, Billy kept us informed, not only about landmarks and historical information, but also about what they would be doing, e.g. stops along the way. The boat ride through the river, leading up to the Rio Negro, was full of beauty and commentary from Billy, who showed immense pride in his homeland, (with the occasional swim here and there). The lunch that Paulo and his wife put on, was amazing. Paulo’s teachings while we walked through the jungle, translated constantly by Billy, was amazing, allowing us to sample some of the liquids and excretions from the trees and plants, as is still practiced today. Even on the journey back to the hotel, Billy was still upbeat and effervescent. I cannot recommend this tour enoughWritten December 5, 2024
- Shezad S0 contributionsExcellent experience, friendly guides. Would recommendExcellent experience throughout. There was always an activity in the morning and the afternoon and plenty of time to chill out. The food was great and cooked fresh every day and the guides were knowledgable. The lodge was basic but has everything you needed - easily the best wifi I’ve had anywhere I’ve stayed. Thank you anaconda team.Written December 4, 2024

- Bulgarican0 contributionsHad a great time at the Anaconda Lodge!I went to the Anaconda Lodge for the 4 day tour recently in October 2024 and had a really great time. All the staff there were very friendly and helpful. My room had powerful air conditioning each night. Everything was well organized with an activity in the morning and afternoon along with plenty of free time to relax at the lodge or go for a hike. The meals were very good with fish and chicken at lunch and dinner and eggs and a meat at breakfast along with vegetables and fruit at each meal. The lodge was nice with a pool I swam in a few times and lounge chairs and a bar with cold drinks (both alcohol and non- alcohol) that you serve yourself at and pay when you leave. The activities were fun and educational and I especially liked the overnight camping in the rainforest. We slept in hammocks with a mosquito net and had a campfire and cooked chicken over the campfire. This really was a great experience and great value for the money. Leonardo, who arranged everything, was very organized, friendly and helpful. The meeting of the waters was not part of our tour, but Leonardo organized a trip for us to take us up to see it at the end of our trip for a reasonable price which was really great to see and was much appreciated by all of us who went to see this, that he did this for us. I highly recommend this tour as I had a great time and it was great value for the money.Written October 28, 2024
- K4931MEalejandrac0 contributionsBEWAREThe listing states a jungle tour, but the one listed activity for an "educational jungle walk" on day 2 says it was 2.5 hours, and it was actually only one hour. Those of us who did not pay extra for participation in a native ritual/ceremony had to sit outside with nothing to do, no one to guide us, until the rest of the group was done. We did not get to interact with the local natives or buy anything from them as souvenirs even though this was a huge selling point for the trip for us. There was no education on their way of living or farming techniques. There was no sunrise tour in the jungle. There was no free swim in the river. There was no canoe paddling. We spent most of our time on an uncovered canoe with a small motor for hours, unprepared with extra coverage for our heads or backs during peak sun hours. Many in our tour group were unwell from the heat by the end of our trips out, and one of our friends had extreme heat exhaustion, leading to us not going on the piranha fishing expedition. While on many expeditions, the guide would simply say "we're leaving now" and then head out, not checking we all heard or were going, when we actively chose not to go for the piranha fishing, he was rude and snapped at us, switching to Portuguese to say curses, assuming we wouldn't understand. They stated on day one the itinerary would be varied based on the weather, but the changes were not communicated to everyone each day, so we were told to dress for a jungle hike in long clothes the following day, and then actually spent the entire morning on a canoe under the scorching sun unable to get proper air flow or sweat to keep us cool. Toilets and showers were clogged and there was no toilet paper or soap.Written October 26, 2024
- Geraldine1702190 contributionsAmazing tree climbing with no fear of heightsWe had an amazing climbing experience on a beautiful Angelim Pedra tree of 60 meter tall. The team was very knowledgeable, precise in setting us up and explaining the steps for climbing. They were super caring and supportive the whole way up and...down. Half way the distance the leafy branches offer a canopy like a blanket, we had not fear of heights and once standing on one of the highest branch, we could see the Amazon river, and the City of Manaus. This was the highlight of our trip in the Amazon!Written October 13, 2024
- Tour310893043700 contributionsGood tripThis trip was really great for one like me, never have been to South Africa, but always has curiosity about Amazona. All in all, it wasn’t a harsh trip, you can totally take your time while travelling with tour guide. What amazed me and my friend were that you could touch the red dolphins and alligators, which made me very happy.Written October 12, 2024

- 240neelakantang0 contributionsAmazing Amazon is really soThe tour was very comfortable and the time spent was highly worth. The time spent with the local community, sumptuous lunch and visit to meeting of the rivers are worth mentioning. The tour guide and other staff were very nice and the guide explained everything with clarity. The attitude and aptitude are worth mentioning.Written September 29, 2024

- larissamY5364LI0 contributionsCRIMINALS AND LIARSHorrible, I don’t recommend it at all. They were harassing me while I was trying to get my refund since they put me in a wrong bus to go to the waterfalls. They suggested me to leave the bus in the middle of the road. I was PREGNANT and the sir named Leonardo was simply DISGUSTING. STAW WAY FROM THIS COMPANY.Written September 26, 2024
- emmabA9932TR0 contributionsFantastic, I'd love to do it all again!I absolutely loved this trip, it's one of the best organised trips that I've done. There were 5 of us which made the trip really personal. Our guide was Francisco and he was brilliant with sharing his wealth of knowledge about the area. I enjoyed every part of the trip and we were very well looked after. I would do it again in a heartbeat - thank you!Written September 13, 2024
- Nomad028878757400 contributionsI do not recommend it, but if you are interested or have a day to spare it is worth it.So I usually write out all the bad first as I have less bad than good, but this time around it’s more bad than good. The good ——————- You get to see the pink dolphins and participate with them You get to try out traditional food. Buffet food; it’s pretty good You see where the 2 rivers meet; they stop and let you take pictures there The bad —————— Ethically, you should not be holding wild animals but in this tour it’s advise not to but the way to the village there are people that do just that. From the monkeys, Macau, Caymen, and even a boa constrictor. For a fee you can hold them and take a picture. I think nature should be left alone for the eyes to see. I signed up for this tour to swim with the pink dolphins, but not like this. They put a boat full of people(usually 50 people, and who ever would like to jump into the water and chill there you can. The tour guide splashes fish in the water to entice the dolphin to swim to the bait and you get photos with the dolphin. But to be crowded with 50+ people in the water does not make a good shot nor does it make a good experience. And get this; it is only around 5 minutes long. Lower the number of people, but 5 minutes is a reasonable time though short Summary The rest of the tour is acceptable as it’s visiting the aboriginals and seeing their dance, along with fishing. I can say it’s pretty average from a tours like these. Overall I think if u have a day in Manaus it’s worth it, but visiting The waterfall is a better idea, or more of a private group to swim with the pink dolphins.Written September 10, 2024

We were warmly welcomed by the Rabbi at Manaus Chabad who gave us the history of Jews in the Amazon. Prayers were said before we visited Jewish grave sights at a local cemetery. A beautiful way to connect!

We are on a cruise and our ship leaves at 4pm.Will we have enough time

It says the Tour departs 00:00 or 12:00 AM... Both of these mean MIDNIGHT. When will the Tour actually depart? Also, I need the pick up at Manaus Port (Monday, May 13) from Iberostar Grand Amazon ship and return there. I will be attending an opera in the Manaus Opera House on May 17, so instead of visiting the Opera House, could I see Rio Negro Palace and Municipal Market, instead the Opera House? Thanks for your answers... Tom
