About
This tour was thought and offered from local people of Thethi, who will not offer you just a guide but you will dive in this local lifestyle and have a unique experience from this remote wild area of the Albanian alp, part of Thethi National Park. Wild because the nature is still virgin, untouched, as described from other tourist and the access road is still unpaved on its last 15 km. That means that it will be a kind of adventure and challenge experience driving to Theth. In just three days you will have the possibility to enjoy the beauty of the main destinations of Thethi, like the waterfall and canyon, the blue eye and stone groves, the church and the lock in tower, the accommodation in traditional guesthouses called ‘kulla’; have a dinner with local homemade and organic food, and experience Albanian welcoming in person.
We also give the possibility to challenging hikers to discuss hiking options, in the sense that instead of doing a specific destination, choose doing another one.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Magonito0 contributionsNot a serious travel agent! Not a serious travel agent, after agreeing 3 months earlier and confirming one week before to organise a trail in the Albanian alps, the day before we realise this company did not organise anything without any possibility for us to plan something else. Part of our holidays in Albania were ruined because of them!Written August 21, 2022
- tdv620 contributionsReally beatifull but take another tour organisationReally beautifull sceneries. But they could have informed us up front that this "jeep"safari includes at least 4 hours of serious hiking. Fortunately this was for us not a big problem but if you are not that sportly or flexible in the limbs you could have a serious problem. The "english"speaking guide was a disaster! It was just a kid of around 19, only interested in his phone, smoking constantly and telling absolutely nothing about anything. He just walked 20 metres in front of us.Written October 10, 2021
- Aurora S0 contributionsSecond best thing i've seenThe road to this waterfall was a little tiring but so worth it. Visit around noon to get the most spectacular view.Written October 2, 2018
- DrBoyfriend0 contributionsChill spot for a summertime hikeAlthough the road is a bit narrow mos of the time, it is well marked so you won't get lost, it took me about 40 minutes from the village to get there. There is a pool of water from the waterfall which makes it a cool spot to rest and enjoy the view under the sounds from the waterfall.Written September 10, 2018
- IwanBanens0 contributionsNot worth a visit in summerWe were in Theth during summer. We didn't go the the waterfall because the water was too low. Still it is nice to take a hike in the National Park to other places. I would recommend the hike to the Blue Eye, which is in the same area as the waterfall.Written August 19, 2018
- EttaP0 contributionsEasy hike - beautiful spotWe walked up the track from Theth with our 5 year olds who loved it. Well marked for the most part takes you past the lock tower and some nice old houses along the way. 6 k return. Too cold for a swim but good for a toe dip! Beautiful walk and waterfall.Written August 11, 2018
- britalb0 contributionsJust beautifulIt's about 2 hours hike from the church in the valley in Theth. Make sure to follow the marks along the path. It could be best to go in a small group of people, fit for a climb. It's quite a climb actually, so be prepared physically for a good hike and climb. Be prepared to bring your hiking shoes, water and/or liquids, and some food (I brought energy bars with me).Written August 6, 2018
- J B0 contributionsNice walk from ThethiNice walk from Thethi along a trail that follows the river to the falls. The walk is not difficult and not too long.Written July 8, 2018
- thetra0 contributionsNice waterfall , close to ThethiAn easy hike of an hour to the waterfall. It was a great place to visit. Even late October was was enough to create a magical experienceWritten October 30, 2017
- Paul G0 contributionsWell worth the short tipA short walk away from Thethi, easy to find, well marked.. do go to the 'other' side of the waterfall, it's even betterWritten October 9, 2017
- Satyabrata0 contributionsNormal WaterfallA small waterfall in a beautiful surrounding. Easy 40 min hike from Theth village following the marked trail along the river. There's a cafe nearby that was closed the day I went. Didn't have much water even though it had been raining the entire day.Written October 5, 2017
- culturevulture940 contributionsCataract of secretsHire a guide to take you past the “Lock-in Tower” and the mills for this 90-minute scramble up to Grunas Waterfall. This “walk” definitely qualifies as a trek, so wear sturdy shoes and take snacks and water with you. You and a few companion hikers will commune with Mother Nature here below the precipice—no sidewalk café’ up here. If you hike along the creek toward Grunas Gorge you can glance back and see that the falls begins hundreds of meters above its final drop, disappears into other chilly pools, and drops again several times before it reaches the crystal clear bottom pool.Written September 9, 2017
- DavidCM20000 contributionsLovely walk up to local waterfallVery good visit on the way further down the valley. A local guide is advised as the route can be hard to find.Written August 19, 2017
- francois v0 contributionsBest to see in late PMGreat falls worth the detour. 30mins from the village on rocky trail. (Better with good shoes). To reach it, stay on the left side of the river and hold your left. There is a little house/farm at the bottom of the aqueduct that channels part of the water from the fall. Follow the aqueduct up and take left at the Y. Climb 200 m and you reach it. All these details to tell you that nothing is marked and you need to guess your path. Water is ice cold and, for few, the swimsuit does not seem necessary. The sunset on the fall is beautiful but do not stay too late as it gets dark quickly. The best thing to see at Theth!Written July 26, 2017
- santanateles0 contributionsWonderful Nature and awesome hospitalityTheth is wonderful. Lost place to explore. Hospitality at Gesthouse Marashi it was awesome. Delicious's food.Written July 17, 2017
