About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 319mykhailom0 contributionsUnforgettable beauty of the city of stone roofsThe stunning old town with stone roofs makes an impression that is difficult to convey in words. Walking along the sloping streets, many shops selling authentic local souvenirs made of stone and wood. Some of these souvenirs are made by craftsmen on the spot in front of customers. With each step up these narrow streets, a new unforgettable view opens both up the mountain and down the valley. I highly recommend you to visit, treat your eyes with wonderful views and an amazing city, and your stomach with delicious Albanian foodWritten October 18, 2024
- Bob E0 contributionsGreat way to see Albania!Very knowledgeable guide. Lots of driving and walking. Plenty of spare time and great sites. Highly recommend. Wear comfortable shoes.Written October 9, 2024
- E9814JXsanaa0 contributionsEspecially perfect for short tripsOur tour guide Tony was fantastic, answered all of our questions. Small group & enough time to walk around but not too long which I prefer. Comfortable vehicle & scenic journey. Highly recommend! Just note -- swimming is not allowed to protect the water however occasionally some people will try to swim there.Written October 2, 2024

- 708clairp0 contributionsUnreliable! We were due to go on this tour today booked with Rei Tours via Viator. It was cancelled last minute via email with less than half an hour notice & after we had already left to get to the meeting point. We would have expected a phone call at such late notice and as a result we wasted an hour at the meeting point, not to mention an afternoon of our holiday. We were very much looking forward to this tour and it is now the end of our holiday so unable to attempt a visit again.Written September 17, 2024
- 117lucy0 contributionsExactly what we were hoping for! This tour went to everywhere we wanted to see inland in Albania, our guide Marcia was really informative and answered any questions we had. We also saw sites you can only see with a tour guide. The communication before the tour was very clear and the tour bus was clean and driver safe. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour.Written September 16, 2024

We were taken to the Cold War tunnels and the castle had the most stunning views. This was the best tour ever! Our tour guide was great, passionate and very knowledgeable in the rich history of Albanian. He drove to all tour sites listed and allowed us to explore all sites throughly. And the the food was great! Blue Eye & Butrint are paradise. Lekuresi Castle was a magnificent site to end off and enjoy the sunset. It’s also a great place if you want to go have dinner or live music with Sarandë city/hill/mountains as your background sometimes check with your guide or online for details. I was amazed with the rich culture/history in the Butrint forest, so well preserved. Note: for the Blue Eye Butrint walking bring water (they have bathrooms around the sites if need) good hiking/comfortable sneaker/tennis shoes, cash, and maybe a pair of beach flip flops to feel the cool crystal clear waters of Blue Eye or Ksamil beach under your feet. We saw so much in the tour and the weather was great sunny with breeze whenever closest to the waters. I took pictures ( see below) on my iPhone 13 which was good ( but next time I go, I’d bring a better quality camera because the views are breathtaking). Our tour guide was funny and very kind. One of the best tours we’ve had in Albanian.

Sarandë 🌤 Maximum temperature 13℃ Minimum temperature 5℃
Toni Vasili came to pick me up at the hotel at 8:55, and we left in a freshly washed car (it took two people 20 minutes) and picked up a Polish woman living in Austria at another hotel.
I am very grateful that he answered all of my questions. Since Japan was closed to the outside world until 1991 and the Japanese Embassy opened in 2017, I have wanted to go there, and it was worth the trouble of coming all the way here.
Toni speaks English, Italian, and Greek, and has lived in London and Paris (looking for business for two years). He answered all my questions immediately, was honest and serious, and seriously explained the highlights of the four places we visited without leaving anything out.
★Kalaja e Lëkurësit Lekuresi Castle: A historic fortress near the city of Saranda
★Ksamil Beach: A beach near the village of Ksamil
★Butrint National Park: The entire park is an ancient city ruin and a World Heritage Site
★Blue Eye: A natural spring with beautiful deep blue water

This was one of the best excursions we’ve ever been on. We covered so much ground in one day… and this tour had everything - stunningly beautiful scenery, the best preserved ancient ruins we’ve ever seen… along with a very kind, friendly, thoroughly knowledgeable archeologist guide. We love history, and Alban seemed to be able to answer any question we could ask. We learned so much, and saw amazing things! We had no idea what a gorgeous country Albania is!
Our deep gratitude to our wonderful guide, Alban! Thank you - we can’t wait to be able to return to Albania to see more of your amazing country :)

We were picked up by our tour guide Gert on time at our apartment, and were pleasantly surprised that this was a private tour with just us.
Gert had an incredible amount of historical knowledge and we really enjoyed learning so much from him throughout the approx 7hr excursion. He was kind and fun, we thoroughly enjoyed his company.
First he drove us to Betrint to look at and learn all about the ancient ruins. We were amazed at what he taught us and could not have asked for a better guide. The site was amazing and so much was so well preserved. Really worth visiting (and with a guide like Gert).
Next we drove on to Ksamil for a quick stop to take some photos at the beach with a view of the 3 islands. Gert generously got us some more cold bottled water for the next part of the trip, we were very thankful.
After this we went on to the Blue Eye nature reserve to see the stunning natural spring. A truly magnificent sight. It’s worth noting that this part of the trip involved a 2k walk to get to the blue eye. It was very hot but the whole walk was paved well and more than manageable. Swimming here is not permitted.
Lastly we drove to Lekuresi Castle which had great views over Sarande and across to Corfu. We learned some more history about Albania whilst we were here for a brief stop and photo opportunity.
Gert dropped us back to a highly recommended taverna (good local food) about a 20 min walk back to our apartment where we had some lunch.
This excursion was worth every penny and we would highly recommend. We wish to say thank you again to our friend Gert the tour guide. We will not forget you or this trip.

Had a great day touring with our guide, Albin today who has a background in archeology. He provided a great overview of not only the sites we visited, but Albania and its culture and history as well. Highly recommend any of REI tours! Outstanding service and quality provided by a friendly, personable guide!

This tour is a must-do for any history lovers visiting Saranda. My tour guide, Toni, was absolutely awesome and his knowledge of history and of the specific locations we visited were unparalleled! I could not have asked for a more entertaining, un-rushed and informative tour. He also had extensive knowledge of Albanian culture and historical events. I can not recommend him highly enough! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Tony was a fantastic guide! He planned our day to try and have us miss the crowds at Butrint. Knowledgeable about the history so we leaned a lot and never felt rushed. He went above and beyond to drop us off at an additional stop so we were able to visit a winery! Thanks Tony!

The tour with Tony was an excellent taste of the natural and man-made wonders around Saranda. Butrint is a world-class ancient site in a beautiful landscape. Blue-Eye is a natural wonder. Tony was a particularly good guide, he was very communicative and knowledgeable, with a great personality.

This was the best experience we have had on this trip. Not because the others were bad but our guide on this tour did great!
If we could give 10/5 star we would, amazing with all the knowledge he had and he did a really good job.
Don't hesitate to book this trip if you want to learn everything there is about Albania and all the destinations.
Thank you so much for this amazing experience

My daughter and I had a great day visiting the attractions around Saranda with guide Tony. Given that the driving around Albania can be difficult, it was very relaxing and much more efficient to go on the guided tour to see the sights. Tony was a safe driver, friendly and very informative. Butrint was the highlight but everything was great!

I'm a solo traveler and I was wondering if the tour can take place if I pay the solo fee for a total of $178. I'm interested in taking the tour on Sept 25th or 26th. Or there's no chance to take the tour been a solo traveler? Thanks in advance
