    Sad to be negative Nelly
I really wanted to love this place. Locals told me it was gimmicky, but I still wanted to try it. It’s in a gorgeous part of the city, and in a friendly looking pretty pink building. However, if you’re looking for interesting ice cream or museum-y info on the history of ice cream, this isn’t the place. It’s an Instagram hot spot for about $40, which is too steep for a lackluster experience. For great Austin ice cream, try Amy’s or Jenni’s. Sorry, y’all.

    Great for all ages
My granddaughters were visiting from California and this was the perfect experience to share with them. 14, 9 and 8. They loved the sprinkle pit the best! I enjoyed the key lime pie and blueberry crumb ice cream best

    SO MUCH FUN
We had a blast with all the interactive games and unlimited ice cream! The staff were so much fun and friendly. It was so much fun acting like a kid again with the sprinkle pit and searching for the golden sprinkle! Would definitely recommend to anybody coming to Austin!

    Over all fun
Overall it was fun but my daughter misplaced her phone…. Completely her fault but you are unable to call the location just to follow up to see if they found it in the sprinkle pit. It’s also hard to understand why the pit doesn’t get cleaned more often. Every two week is gross lol

    Feel like a kid again
I confess. I'm confused. Am I reviewing the Museum of Ice Cream in Austin or the Museum of Ice Cream Austin? Is there a difference? My wife and I visited the Museum of Ice Cream at 11506 Century Oaks Terrace in Austin, in The Domain shopping complex. Previously, we had visited the Museum of Ice Cream at 435 North Michigan Avenue in our hometown of Chicago and were alerted to the Museum of Ice Cream in Austin. So here we are, rediscovering the kid in us today. Sure, this is an attraction that is geared for kids. But adults are welcome. Open from noon to 5 Monday, Thursday and Friday, 10:30 to 7 on Saturday and 10:30 to 6 on Sunday, adults and kids can eat unlimited ice cream and sweet treats as they make their way through the experience. Learn all about ice cream and its history across 12 multi-sensory installations. Play games at the animal cookie carnival and jump in the world-famous sprinkle pool. Stop at the cafe, bar and retail shop for scoops of ice cream, milk shakes, signature sundaes or brand cocktails or buy a gift or souvenir. Adults can order a classic frozen pick lemonade with vodka or a pink paloma with tequila and grapefruit juice. Adults and kids can order scoops of Dutch chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream ice cream. Or indulge in a banana split milk shake with banana pudding, chocolate fudge sauce, yellow whipped cream, pink chocolate shell and a pink dipped cherry. Or splurge ($18) on a sprinkle pool sundae with strawberry, Dutch chocolate, vanilla and banana pudding ice cream served in a Museum of Ice Cream souvenir bowl with chocolate sauce, strawberry topping, caramel sauce, whipped cream and red and pink sprinkles. Even a couple of 82-year-old retirees can feel like kids in a place like this.

    An ice cream SCAM
It’s not a museum, and there’s really no ice cream. The dead giveaway that this place is horrible and has no ice cream is that they SELL ice cream on the way out…and people were buying it. If you planned to go because you wanted to try all different kinds of ice cream, shakes etc., this DEFINITELY isn’t the place.

    Moderate and ok
Allow ticket purchase at the door instead of a 30% mandated “convenience fee” w/o alternative option. Please be clear how many ice cream option stops are available so we can space, accordingly. Advise what flavors are available prior to arriving at each station.

    Ice cream extravaganza
I loved the whole experience! You also got to taste different ice cream flavors pretty much every room you go into. The staff were super engaging and made the experience so much better. Love the brown sugar cinnamon flavor! 😁

Ice Cream Dreams Do Come True
I thought I was in the middle of an amazing dream about Ice Cream. Then... my daughter pinched me and I realised we weren't in dream we were at The Museum of Ice Cream. This is a surreal space and a magical place.

Very $$ & just for kids!!!! Don’t go!
Not a museum at all, dont recall seeing any history or pics as to how ice cream was started! Admission price is astronomical! 95% set up for kids. At the end you end up paying for more ice cream if u want it…you should get a sundae for free at the end. Definitely not a place for adults!

It was fun but there could have been more places for photo ops…it seemed a little bit congested at times but was overall a fun experience.

NOT A MUSEUM! BE AWARE !
Concept of a museum of ice cream was promising, execution fell flat. Sample stations set up in a couple of rooms with limited flavors and cheap decor. The last room you had to pay an additional cost in addition to the "entrance" fees and taxes of $40 pp. Definitely no return and definitely not a museum. There should be more fully visible disclosures but I guess that would hurt the $ rolling in.

I do NOT recommend this place! The price for 2 adults and 3 children at the door was $250! They adjust their price based on how busy they get—when we looked at the price this morning, it was $24/per person. By the time we arrived there to buy tickets at the door, it came out to $50 per person. We didn’t want to let the kiddos down and paid the fee reserving our spot for a specific time. We had to wait an extra hour in a very cramped room(standing room only) because they were behind schedule. The ice cream was mediocre and given in small sample cups and there were limited flavor options. It is NOT an ice cream museum and nothing even close to being the slightest bit educational about the history of ice cream or the making of ice cream. The little kids still had fun playing on a couple of tiny jungle gym fixtures and plastic ball pit.

Fun for kids and made for pretty Instagram moments. This is not a museum, it is an ice cream shop with fancy photo ops and a cool kiddie play area. Keep your expectations in check about learning and keep your wallet open. The kid in our group had fun but the adults felt it was highly overpriced for the experience we had.

It was nice enough. The kids enjoyed getting their pictures taken, but we could have done that anywhere and saved the $30 a pop. The scenes are unique and fun, and it was something we could do as a family in the air conditioning, so that's nice. Overall I'm glad we went, but I wouldn't go back.

Took our granddaughter here to get out of the heat for a while. No history of ice cream, how it's made or differences between ice cream and gelato or soft serve vs. regular ice cream. Nothing about ice cream firms or how they make ice cream in bulk.
No videos and interactive items were limited to a magnetic board with numbers and letters to add names, where from, etc. and a small build it yourself ice cream app that could send an email of the cone to someone. A few hanging bananas, a couple of climbing nets with a small slide and a basketball net to shoot with kid sized balls. Final event was pit filled with plastic "sprinkles". Kids were enjoying it but, to be honest, with all the Covid around, even without being paranoid, seeing 20 kids in close proximity swimming in the pool made me nervous. Fortunately, our 6 year old out. Items for purchase - sundaes, etc. were pretty expensive. There was some free soft serve and ice cream along the way but it certainly didn't cover the entry fee.

In one simple word, Overpriced. Not worth time and ice cream, the Museum is purely marketing gimmick. Poorly designed rooms, low Serves Blue Bell Ice Creams, a small play area in middle. Avoid, this place.

If you are expecting a "museum" dedicated to the history of ice cream, this is NOT the place for you to visit. I was looking for a stop between Dallas and San Antonio for my husband and I to stop on a Sunday afternoon. $40/person admission fee is more than should be charged for a self-guided walk through rooms with facts about ice cream. There are 3 ice cream stations throughout the exhibit, but the entry fee made each scoop roughly $12/scoop...which is more than a scoop at the Blue Bell Creamery in Bernham. I will admit is was a fun and whimsical environment, but as part of a high-end outdoor shopping center you get what you pay for sometimes! However, next time I will look closer at the reviews on places like this...

When purchasing tickets for the MOIC in Austin, they added about $60 in fees for purchasing tickets. The price of $25 is already a bit steep but I was willing to pay that. Why are so many fees added? Next, there is an overload of pink everywhere. Why? The ice cream is nothing to rave about. Yes, you can eat as much as you want but it was just ok. Also, it was interesting that they have a room full of bananas hanging from the ceiling before entering another room so one might expect to have banana splits coming up... nope! Just another scoop of ice cream in a small cup. Wow! Not an experience to get excited about. We tried it once but never again. My recommendation to anyone reading this would be save your money, unless you have money to throw out the window! That's the way I looked at it after the visit. I can't take my money with me when I die so might as well waste it on the MOIC. Oh, well...

It’s a good idea and something to try once but it’s not a place worth going to more than once at that price point. Were it cheaper I would take my kids regularly.

For the price point, were it an actual museum, you’d spend a lot of time in there. It’s not, so you move through quickly.

For fun for little kids, it’s super fun but so are many play spaces which are way cheaper. Sprinkle ball pit was the highlight.

I appreciate the beautiful decor and design and it’s a shame we don’t have more spaces for kids with that much thought put into it.

You walk into a “waiting area” until you are called back to enter the museum. The waiting area is packed with people, as this is the entry room and the exit room once you complete your experience. Bring a fan, that room is HOT. Honestly, you will probably be hot for the majority of the museum experience. Good place for photo opportunities but not many facts/learning opportunities that comes with the name “museum”.

A family visit at weekend. The feeling is weird. My 9-old son like it, but my wife and I do not want to go there again. The taste of the "museum" (if it can be called a museum) is just like candy, sweet, but with no aftertaste and no nutrition. The essential difference between this museum and a children's playground is that everything is painted pink here. Well, I have to admit that it looks good in the pictures.
