- 374jennyk0 contributionsHmmm.🤔Be forewarned that this bike tour is much less about biking and more about standing around talking. Downtown Austin is not much of a place for e-bikes. The trails in Zilker Park are fairly narrow and crowded, and thus groups of bikes are somewhat annoying to the pedestrians and must move slowly and carefully to avoid collisions. Our guide was pleasant enough, but he failed to read his audience and much of what he was discussing was less about Austin and more about his personal interests such as music, with no assessment of what we wanted to get from the tour. All seven of us with one exception were experienced bikers and yet our guide spent a large amount of time drilling the basics, over half an hour alone was spent on orientation, which was quite unnecessary. Disappointing, and very elementary unlike other scenic, active bike tours we’ve enjoyed. Total mileage for a 2 1/2 hour tour was only 8 miles, flat. Gear and bikes were old and well-used.Written November 13, 2024
- 314rhondae0 contributionsBig thumbs DOWN Austin e-bike tourAll 5 of us hated our Austin E-bike tour with guide Peter. Too many complaints to address but some of the problems included: One guest was given a cracked helmet (provides no protection in a crash); then we were given terrible instructions to shift to the lowest gears possible every time we came to a stop and the stops were constant; then when one woman failed to shift down, the guide shamed her in front of the entire group; next the group of 7 guests were led through crowded and very narrow paths shared with pedestrians, scooters, etc. which made it hard not to run into one another; then we were led into busy, dangerous traffic with traffic lights that invariable left some of the group behind unless they raced through a red light; and the guide constantly stopped us and talked excessively, ignoring signals the riders were bored and restless to ride rather than stop and listen to him talk excessively. We have taken e-bike tours in Seattle and San Diego where we had pleasant e-bike rides and were not led into heavy traffic that put us in danger. This tour was unsafe and very unpleasant.Written November 13, 2024

Michael was an excellent guide, proving to be knowledgeable and provided interesting information about Austin. He kept a solid pace, which was welcomed yet also stopped often enough for breaks and to check on the entire group. Would recommend as an active and fun way to see a few Austin highlights and to enjoy the outdoors.

First time in Austin, TX and had this private bike tour with awesome tour guide Chip. He set the tone for the rest of my entire visit. He was both knowledgable and quite cute. All the one-on-one attention I needed for a young woman visiting a big, new city. He made me feel both relaxed and excited at the same time, which not many men can do. I am sure all the guides here are great, but Chip was the perfect fit for me.

Did a local bike tour solo with local Austinite Tanner. Had a great time going around Lady Bird lake. We pulled over a few times for a breather where Tanner would give some great local knowledge and insight into the city. 10/10 experience with 10/10 tour guide. Thanks a lot guys!

Chip was an excellent guide! Very informative and energetic. We are a family with children ages 4 and 7. My 4 year old rode in the baby seat behind me and my 7 year old rode the tandem bike with my husband, although he could have gotten his own bike. Easy fun ride around the lake.

We visited Austin for a Girl’s Trip and our saavy friend found Barton Springs Bike Rental and Tours. She booked 8 of us for a private e-bike tour with Toby. It was our lucky day! From the moment we walked into the shop, we were greeted and treated professionally and with kindness. Care was taken to fit each of us with helmets and bikes and to thoroughly explain how the bikes work. Our tour was carefully planned through amazing paths around the city, stopping to get more information about many important landmarks. Toby is knowledgeable and passionate about Austin. He was very attentive throughout the tour and stopped for great photo opportunities. This is a must-do! Best way to see Austin. Thank you, Toby!!!

Had a great ride with Cody. It was truly a great experience as he took us on a great tour of Austin's parks and bike trails. He did a great job of explaining things with lots of backstory. Definitely worth recommending doing while in Austin.

Just completed a bike tour with Tait on Jan 18th. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves with Tait tailoring the tour to our desired speed and length of stay at each stopping point. Very scenic & informative! Tait was awesome. Interesting that the structure supporting the "bat bridge" also resembles a bat in flight. You'll have to take the tour to see what we mean. Enjoy!

A great way to see the area around Lady Bird lake and get some history. My first time to Austin and was only here a short while. Omar was a super guide and his love of the area was noted.

Robbie was a great tour guide! Shared lots of cool facts during our ride and made it that much more interesting. If you’re not from the area, I highly recommend the tour. They cover all the good spots and our guide was super cool!

I just reserved a Bike Tour to celebrate my daughter’s 13th Birthday. Please advise if we can arrange for something special to recognize her special day.
Also, are small dogs allowed on the bike tour? Larkin is 18 lbs , well behaved and will be secured in a ride along doggie back pack.
Thank you

How is traffic with this sort of tour? bringing along 8 year olds and wondering how anxious it will leave me.
Written December 26, 2018
We were accompanied by two guides, one leading upfront, one bringing up the rear—so keeping an eye on the little ones shouldn’t be a problem. Minimum foot/car traffic along the path to worry about either. Have fun!
