- Roadbelowme0 contributionsMalacca: Walk thru historyThe tour was well organised from the word go. We were a family of five spanning three generations and everyone enjoyed this engaging walking tour more than the amusement parks. We were picked up from our hotel and also dropped back. Our request for vegetarian food was promptly accommodated. Our tour guide Sashi made the history and culture of Malacca come to life with his wit, exceptional storytelling skills and amusing anecdotes and trivia. It was an immersive experience with an authentic traditional Baba Nyonya meal and the delicious dessert of Cendol. Over lunch we interacted with other traveller's in the group, exchanged stories and travel tips. Overall it was a very gratifying experience. Thanks to Sashi again for helping us with insider's tips and valuable recommendations.Written March 22, 2025

From the moment we stepped into his luxurious and comfortable van, we knew we were in for a treat. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. His insightful commentary and cool facts brought everything to life, and he was always accommodating to our needs. He accompanied us along certain parts of the tour, adding a personal touch and ensuring we didn't miss a thing. Plus, he was genuinely funny, which made the day even more enjoyable! Charlie's extensive knowledge and dedication truly made our experience unforgettable. He is an invaluable asset to the tour company, and we cannot recommend him highly enough. Seriously, Charlie is the best tour guide ever! Cameron highlands itself was of course, very beautiful and picturesque. We booked this tour on fairly short notice, but everything went well. The guide picked us up at our hotel on time, he was polite, spoke very good English and was a safe driver.
Unfortunately the entire experience was rather impersonal. The guide never even introduced himself (we did) and the entire time seemed disinterested and bored.
We have taken tours all around the world and usually the guides are eager to present their country/culture and are interested in communication with their clients, especially if it is a private tour with just 2 people.
The guide seemed more focused on going through the itinerary as quickly as possible (and otherwise on his phone).
He did not offer any insight unless prompted (i.e. there is an abandoned monorail in the city, we passed it, he didn't comment on it at all, we had to ask about it and his comment boiled down to: "It wasn't finished.")
There just wasn't a connection at all unfortunately.
The experience of course is always heavily influenced by the guide you get, so you experience might differ drastically from ours.
The tour itself has a good itinerary and the restaurant for lunch was a pleasant surprise (best food we had in Malaysia!), there was enough time to explore the area on our own and we enjoyed our day overall. Would recommend!

We went on a private day tour with Mr. Ahmed to Malacca. This has been a highlight of our trip to Malaysia! The car was clean and comfortable, and we were offered water if we needed it. Mr. Ahmed was very knowledgeable about the city and its history, and he was enthusiastic about sharing with us. He has a vast knowledge on the local food and restaurants and gave great recommendations. He was also very flexible if we wanted to look at something or stop somewhere on the tour. We would recommend him to anyone visiting Malaysia for the first time!

Our tour guide is very professional. His name is Johnson. We are participating in an English-speaking group tour. We provide hotel pick-up and drop-off services to Bukit Bintang, which is very considerate! The driver and tour bus are both comfortable.
The tour guide Johnson explained a lot about the historical background of Kuala Lumpur and Malacca, Malaysia during the tour. He was really professional. Thank you for the excellent service!
The restaurant at noon also offers a delicious 7-course meal, plus Malay shaved ice. The dining environment is hygienic and air-conditioned.

This is to let you know that me and my fiancé went for a trip to Malaysia for 2 weeks, coming from Australia last August, and we visited Malacca with your tour which we booked via Klook online for 14/08/2023. We got picked up from the hotel that morning and we were taken to the Bus where we were greeted by our tour guide Amar, full name Guramar.
Firstly, I was a little bit offended about the fact that the other fellow travelers were offered bottles of water, and we were not. But did not say anything about it, thought that it was not included for us in the tour we booked, and hence asked Amar that if there was any chance the bus could stop somewhere so we get some drinks and maybe some snacks. His prompt reply was that its not possible, bus will only stop at certain stops, which I understand.
I have Indian background by hereditary and also an Australian citizen. Now what made me really upset was the fact that in Malacca, Amar came up to me and asked where we were from? I said Australia, and then he said, "Oh if you would have told me so, I could have treated you better. I thought you were from India." My reply was, "What is that supposed to mean? I mean being Indian does reflect my ethnicity and my ancestral heritage." and then started complaining about how Indian tourists are fussy and can be demanding, he had some experience with Indian tourists in the past and asked me, "you should know what I am talking about, you know what I mean?" My reply was, "No I do not".
What I was even more surprised to know was that our Tour guide Mr. Amar also comes from Indian background. This is when I said to him, that "You look very much Indian as well, how would you feel if you got treated the way we did? And also, your thoughts and racial profiling of people does not make you any better person than the people you so desperately speaking against, you are a very racist person."
I mean some people can be fussy or demanding, but that is just the nature of people. But I am there to enjoy my holidays, not worry about your tour guide's judgement about people from some country, culture or religion. Me and my partner felt very insulted and upset about this whole experience, which absolutely ruined our trip and our experience about Malacca. This was just horrendous, some tour guide just so casually racially profiling the tourists who paid money to enjoy a trip and goes home with absolute bitter experience. You should not have such racists staff working with tourists who come to your country and your city for a pleasant experience. This is a very very racist incident, and I am going to also send this email to the Malaysian tourism board and the government agency responsible.

The Malacca tour was amazing. We visited all the spots mentioned in the itinerary and also had 2 hours leisure time in which we went on the Malacca River Cruise and also rided the tri-rickshaw. The tour started on time with perfect hotel pick-up. Our tour guide Mr. Nelson also thoroughly briefed us about the history of Malaysia and Malacca. Highly recommended.

Had a good day trip to Malacca. Our guide Douglas was great and gave just the right balance of insightful talks on the bus and our own downtime. The walking tour of the city in the morning hit all the main outdoor attractions and after a local Malay style lunch, we had 2 hours to explore the city as we wanted before heading back to KL. Good trip for anyone who wants to quickly tick off Malacca on their trip!

We had an incredible day trip to Melaka with our guide, Jhonson. His knowledge of the city’s rich history and culture truly enhanced our experience. From exploring historic landmarks like St. Paul’s Hill to enjoying the vibrant Jonker Street, Jhonson made sure every moment was memorable. His friendly demeanor and insightful commentary kept us engaged throughout the tour. We also had an amazing lunch, which was a highlight. Highly recommend Jhonson as your guide for an unforgettable Melaka experience!

The tour guide explains carefully and arranges the sequence of attractions very smoothly. You will not be too tired when you arrive. Due to the hot weather in Malacca, the tour guide will try his best to arrange a shady place for guided tours and rest. He will repeatedly confirm whether you have listened to the pick-up and drop-off time and gathering location. Clear, all in all a great trip and highly recommended.

The overall is good, i mean the activity level is mild, suitable for most people excepts for elders who can't really climb stairs.
And the historical city"Melaka" is a MUST-GO.
You can experience the beauty of the mixture of colonial and immagrating Asian sytle in this beautiful Malaysian city. I don't see other place in the world has this fortune to get along with it in the first place.
And the lunch is a entry-level for most people, not too exotic.
The flaw is this trip is an half-day trip, so if you wanna enjoy the nightmarket and the nightview here is not gonna happen.

The Tour started bit unfortunate as there was no option for pick up due to an event in the inner city. Got a foto of the meeting point but bus was at the main street which we couldn't see from meeting point. Guide and driver were chatting in front of bus instead of looking if somebody was waiting.
Tour was all in all okay, got the most important informations and saw the important sights. Nevertheless the guide didn't seem to be highly motivated nor interested in the group.
