- fredric20130 contributionsBEWARE. THIS COMPANY WILL CANCEL YOUR TOUR AT THE LAST MOMENTI would like to warn others of this company’s shady business practices. They are not a tour company or tour operator. They are the middle-man who merely attempt to arrange for guides to provide the tours they advertise on Viator and TripAdvisor. I booked this tour with them on TripAdvisor almost two weeks before the tour date. I received an email from TripAdvisor saying that the tour was confirmed, and my credit card was charged the full amount of the tour - several hundred dollars. Then, 36 hours before the date of the tour, the company notified me (through an email from TripAdvisor that the tour operator had left me a message) that they could not find a guide and were unlikely to be able to find a guide for the tour. This, of course, left me high and dry, without their advertised tour and too late to find another one.Written March 24, 2025

- Phillosophizing0 contributionsAn Unforgettable Journey Through Resilience and RemembranceOur Fukushima Hope Tour with Mikiko "Miki" Shiga was truly exceptional. As a Licensed Guide Interpreter, Miki's knowledge, compassion, and attention to detail made this powerful experience even more meaningful. The tour took us through significant sites including the Ruins of Namie Machiritsu Ukedo Elementary School, where Miki thoughtfully translated a children's story displayed on illustrated plaques throughout the school grounds—each page revealing part of the disaster narrative that we would have completely missed without her. Miki went above and beyond by recommending a wonderful hotel before our tour, helping with taxi communications, and guiding us to authentic local cuisine at Michinoeki Namie (the katsu and local fish were delicious!). Even on a particularly cold day, she ensured our comfort while still providing a comprehensive experience. What made this tour truly special was hearing Miki's personal connection to the events—her own experiences during the earthquake, evacuation stories from locals, and how communities have persevered through devastating circumstances. Her passion for sharing Japan's history and culture shines through in everything she does. If you're considering this tour, I cannot recommend Miki highly enough. Beyond just seeing historical sites, you'll gain profound insights into human resilience and the ongoing revitalization efforts in Fukushima.Written March 23, 2025

Yuko was a fantastic tour guide for our short stay in Nagasaki! She was very knowledgeable, as you’d expect from a local, super personable, and had great energy. We had rainy weather, but she was able to incorporate public transportation and short breaks at a cafe and other covered areas to get us out of the weather and give us the best experience. I would absolutely recommend booking this tour with Yuko for anyone who wants a comprehensive tour of Nagasaki through a local perspective. 10/10!

Yesterday we had a fantastic private tour with Mrs Yuko. She showed us the Gunkanjima Museum and we visited the Suwa Shrine, including a wonderful lunch at the nearby soba/udon café. This was a great alternative to our original plan (visiting Gunkanjima Island itself, which was cancelled due to weather conditions). We are thankful that Mrs Yuko came up with a great back-up plan.
Mrs Yuko was quite knowledgeable, very friendly, polite and interested. Besides sharing her knowledge about Nagasaki, we were also able to ask our other questions about Japanese traditions and culture.
In short, the perfect guide and we definitely recommend her! Arigato gozaimasu, Yuko-san!

Having attended Catholic high schools and university in Japan and having visited Nagasaki several times in the past, I had been looking forward to this tour as a nice walk around the city following my memory lane. My Canadian husband was particularly interested in Nagasaki’s tragic exposure to Atomic bomb and wanted to learn about the history of this town in depth. Our day turned out to be a very insightful one, learning the unique culture and history of this beautiful place. We had Mrs. Fumiko Yamaguchi as our guide, who was very professional, courteous, and also approachable. She listened to our interests carefully and suggested more suitable itinerary for the day taking advantage of the perfectly nice weather. Notably, Fumiko’s hands-on knowledge and experience as a family of A-bombing survivor reminded us of the importance of passing on this tragic human history. 2-day stay in Nagasaki was way too short. We promised to come back to this city and the surrounding area in the near future. Thank you, Fumiko, for the great tour and helping me shop the Nagasaki specialty “Miso”!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments. I am glad to hear that you both enjoyed your visit to Nagasaki City. Thank you very much for your kind words as well.
Thanks to you, I realized the joy and excitement of being an interpreter guide who was more or less demotivated by the prolonged COVID-19. I was excited to learn from your vast knowledge from your travels around the world.
I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Until then, I will continue to strive to be a better guide.

I had an amazing time with Yoshiko Hattori. She communicated prior to my trip ensuring that my desires were met and she offered suggestions in making me a perfect itinerary! She arrived on time, spoke great English and had a very outgoing personality. She was born and raised in Nagasaki so she knew all the spots and was very amenable to changes. You could tell that she is very passionate about her city and her passion made me want to learn even more. We had a packed itinerary and ended the day with pain in my calves and clocked over 14,000 steps although we took Trams almost everywhere. I couldn't have asked for a better guide and if I ever return to Nagasaki I'll definitely be looking her up!

I booked this tour a couple of months before our ship ported in Nagasaki. Hiromi Murata contacted me right away to help me decide what activities from a very long list we should do. I explained I had two young nieces, and she was able to answer what kinds of activities they’d like, such as the history and culture museum, and riding the cable cars. She also recommended a good spot we could eat. She answered all our questions and was very patient with us. She even anticipated that we would need taxis because of the rain and even offered to buy us umbrellas before we met. Great communication throughout the whole process!

I highly recommend this tour, which is custom designed for your particular interests. This is not a pre-determined itinerary. After paying, the company connects you with your guide via email. We were able to communicate via LINE and email about itinerary and logistics, which worked perfectly. My guide, Yoshiko Hattori, showed up at my hotel on time and was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing much about Nagasaki from a personal perspective. I wanted to get around on foot and by street car, which Yoshi was able to accommodate, but taxi is also an option. Beyond the morning we spent together, she was able to help me sort out the rest of my day with many recommendations. All in all, this was a great way to kick off my visit to Nagasaki, and I would totally recommend this tour as a way to introduce yourself to this special city,

That was a precious time!!

We had a wonderful day with Yoshi walking all over and taking taxis when needed. She set up a great flexible tour suited to exactly what we wanted to see. This included Glover Gardens, the peace memorial park and Spectacles Bridge as well as many other sights along the way. Yoshi is so friendly and knowledgeable and speaks perfect English, making it really easy on us. Though, she did teach us some important Japanese phrases to master, too.
We loved our tour with Yoshi.

We went for a half day tour with Yashiko Hattori. She was so diligent, she even sent a Youtube link introducing herself before the tour! never had that happen before. She explained how her father survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb blast by hiding behind a heavy steel plate in his factory, and his story was one reason why she became a tour guide to better explain this part of Nagasaki's history. We toured the old quarter, and she brought us to a dedicated cat-themed shop filled with lovely cat themed japanese souvenirs - wonderful!

Yoshi was a wonderful guide who helped make a cold and rainy day still into a great tour of Nagasaki. Our daughter (10) enjoyed as well as we explored the more somber parts including the hypocenter, the atomic bomb museum and Peace Park, then ventured to enjoy the views from Mt. Inasayama and the history of Dejima. Yoshi had lots of great local knowledge having grown up here and her explanations were clear and helpful. Thank you for the great tour and the tips we followed for the next day.
