    Wonderful tour of Tsukiji Market
We spent a wonderful few hours with our guide Josh exploring the many sights and bites of the Tsukiji market. Josh was voth very knowledgeable and engaging providing both historical context and fun facts such that it was a very enjoyable experience for both adults and kids. The tour culminated with a wonderful rooftop picnic trying many of the food items we picked up along the way.

    Tsukiji breakfast tour
We met our guide in a small cafe in Tsukiji, Tokyo. The coffee was great and the next few hours walking around the market with Kim Kay were amazing. Our morning ended having a lovely picnic.

    Fabulous Food Walking Tour
Melissa proved to be a great guide and companion for the Yanaka Old Town Walking Tour. She had a wealth of knowledge about the area and local vendors with whom she was clearly familiar. The tour included a number of interesting snacks, Sake, a lunch in a small local restaurant and possibly the highlight was definitely a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony by a local family. Melissa took lots of photos of our experience as a reminder of a fabulous tour. This is an excellent tour that we would highly recommended.

    Perfect introduction to Tokyo
We had a great tour with Jane! We loved trying different Japanese foods and exploring deeper than we would on our own. Everyone came away full and happy! Jane took great care of us by wisking us seamlessly from stop to stop - I was impressed with how much we did! Would highly recommend.

    Great Food Tour. Would recommend
Dani was a great guide. Really interesting and helped us understand a lot more about Japanese food. We had a fun evening and enjoyed everything we ate and drank. We went to five places but we didn’t feel rushed. We went to places we wouldn’t have found on our own.

Micky was great. Very keen on looking after us, giving us explanations and information and ensuring we had the best time. Very generous with what we received. Went an hour over time and never rushed us.

Kyoto food tour with the best guide!
My husband, teenage daughter and I did the Kyoto food tour with Raquel from Arigato Travel and she was beyond amazing! We were a difficult family because my daughter has sesame and nut allergies, which are very prevalent in Japan. We went to four restaurants and each one was delicious and completely safe for my daughter. Raquel also had tremendous knowledge of Japanese culture and the foods there and she was extremely informative. If that’s not enough, she was also one of the most delightful people I’ve ever met. Definitely go on this tour and use Raquel.!!

A great walking tour even in the rain and snow!
While the weather was cold and raining, not ideal for a walking food tour our guild Wesley was amazing and took great care of us. He was a wealth of knowledge! He adjusted his plans to keep us out of the rain and we had an amazing experience! Highly recommend!

    Thank you Yappy!
Our first morning in Japan. What a fun way to start off our trip. Yappy and his assistant were excellent - good humoured and knowledgable. They were able to accommodate my gluten free requirement with no problem - in fact, Yappy had brought a bottle of gf soy sauce and small spray bottle for the tour and for me to keep. Really thoughtful attention to detail. So much appreciated. Great opportunity to see the fish market, get some insight into its history and to sample some very fresh fish. P.S. If you can't/won't eat raw fish, perhaps this isn't the tour for you. Otherwise I recommend it highly. Well worth it.

    The best
The tour guides and Anne were amazing . Taking the trip to Japan can be insanely nerve-racking through the fact of the different cultures, but the truth is Anne and her team were amazing and made the trip an absolute pleasure.

Local eats and amazing guide Jane!
My family and I were looking forward to trying local foods we couldn’t find on our own- and we got just that with an awesome tour guide Jane who showed us an amazing time! Five stops including ramen, sushi and a pancake dessert- several tucked away shops in Shibuya. My 12-year old loved EVERYTHING while Jane made sure they took into account one of us who doesn’t eat meat- only seafood. Each shop made us feel cared for and unique while Jane shared history and laughs along the way. Such a great addition to our stay in Tokyo!

Our Traveledge travel advisor booked this tour for our party of eight friends and world travelers. Highly recommended! We met our guide, Mickey, by the Glico Man in the busiest intersection of the lively neighborhood of Dotonbori. She led us off the main thoroughfares and promenades with the zany and colorful neon lights and advertising to smaller alleys and side streets. We sampled skewers at one stop, sushi at another, and a complete lunch with tempura and yakitori in a small restaurant up narrow stairs, with excellent service. Mickey packed a lot of information into our tour and was a cheerful, highly skilled, and friendly guide.

Here's the TLDR; you should absolutely do a food tour with Arigato.

Quality and customer service are the two words that come to mind when describing Arigato food tours. My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to be led by the vivacious and amicable Sae during our daytime Dontonbori food tour. Sae was an absolute pleasure to talk to and learn from. She shared lots of interesting facts about Osaka, its food culture, and even shared some of her own experiences and perspectives.

I also work in the tourism industry, in mainland China, and I fully appreciate the art of balancing professionalism and playfulness, which came so naturally to Sae. This is an industry that takes a lot of energy, time management, careful planning, and, above all, a passion for fun and meeting new people. Arigato has done a superb job in hiring such qualified staff and ensuring consistent quality of their product while saving space for nuance and fun. Thank you so much for your hard work!

*I didn't post many photos of food in this review because Sae took all those photos for us and sent them to my email so that we could focus on enjoying ourselves!

Kevin was a first class guide for our food tour. With just the three of us it was a very personal experience. We learnt about both the food but also more about the Japanese culture. We not only visited a variety of food experiences but also a few other cultural places of interest. I'll not say we enjoyed everything we ate but that was about our taste - we tried a number of foods we would not have ordered in a restaurant and some we enjoyed! One of the restaurant/bars he took us to became a 'favourite' and we revisited it on a couple of occasions to eat: we would never have found it without Kevin!

Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re thrilled to hear that Kevin provided you with such a personal and enriching experience on your food tour. His ability to blend cultural insights with culinary exploration is something we’re very proud of, and we’re so glad it added value to your experience. Trying new foods can be an adventure in itself, and we’re glad you gave it a go—even discovering some new favorites along the way! It’s fantastic that one of the restaurant/bars became a go-to spot for you during your trip; finding those hidden gems is what we strive for on our tours. Thank you for choosing Arigato Japan to be part of your journey!

We had a wonderful evening tour through the back streets of Dotonbori. It didn't matter that it was wet and windy, it added to the fun. Our tour guide was wonderful, she gave us plenty of local information and conversation about such an amazing city and country. Loved it!

We absolutely loved our Food Tour with Sae!! We went to 4 different food stops. We tried lots of different local street food and had an amazing traditional lunch, in a beautiful restaurant that we never would have found unless we did this tour. We also learned so much more about Osaka then just the food. Sae taught us all about the culture, history, and fun facts about the city! It was so much fun and made the day extra special! For anyone looking to learn more about the culture of Japan while on your trip and try amazing local food, add this to your agenda!

From our tour in Japan we remember many unforgettable experiences , the Foodtour in Osaka is undoubtedly one of them. Guide Kentaro guided us in a particularly pleasant and professional way through the bustling district of Dotonbori. It was a top culinary experience, street food and more... In contrast to the colourful crowds, the tour also led us through some quiet hidden places and religious shrines. We visited eateries that you would not find as a tourist alone, including a particularly atmospheric and high-quality izakaya. The structure of the (many!) dishes tasted confirmed the Osaka motto: "Eat until you drop"... We enjoyed excellent Takoyaki, Kushikatsu, Soft Beef, Tofu Salad, Fried Oyster, Grilled Scallop, Egg with Bacon, Potato with Mentai Sauce, Rice mochi with Bacon, Grilled Yam, Grilled Onigiri and for dessert a heavenly Taiyaki with a filling of sweet red bean paste. Thank you again Ken, for sharing your passion and rightful pride for the versatile and delicious Japanese cuisine!

Miki, our tour guide told us not to take pictures, she would take them all and send them to us after the tour. She did take plenty of pictures but she never sent them to us. I emailed Arigato Travel to inquire about the photos but they never responded. The tour itself was ok, but the missing photos spoiled it for us. We did do another Arigato food tour in Tokyo with Alex and had a great time.

During our trip to Japan we ended up taking 2 food tours with Arigato. Both of them were great but a special shout-out to our food tour in Osaka. The guide Mickey was AMAZING and the food was fantastic. My husband and I can't stop talking about it. The other thing that I really like about the tours is that they took photos so you didn't have to worry about it. It was an extra special surprise to get some great photos after the tour has ended :)
