Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Suzanne D0 contributionsEnjoyable day outWe’ve done several bike tours in Japan and find them a really enjoyable way to see the City. Akira was good company and had lots of interesting information to share.Written January 17, 2025
- harleyw20250 contributionsOsaka on the fullKevin the guide was awesome, food was on point and more than enough drinks included, even for an Australian🤦♂️. Highly recommend this tour, we only had 4 of us on the tour but was a cracking evening and glad we did it.Written January 7, 2025
- Munchables0 contributionsGreat food, Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and at a very reasonable price! This tour was one of the best things we did on our whole Japan trip. Mayco was fantastic start to end, knew loads about the city and the food and answered every question we had. She also showed us some great spots to get good photos of Osaka Castle! The food was brilliant throughout and some bits I wouldn't have even known about, let alone tried, without her guidance. My only regret was we booked this tour for our last day in Osaka and left the tour with a bunch of ideas of great things to do! Definitely go earlier than we did so you can capitalise on their recommendations!Written January 6, 2025
- Davhj0 contributionsOutstandingMatt was great. Food outstanding. One of the best things I did in Japan. Safe, convenient, just fun. Worthwhile excursion that really opens up a part of Japan you’ll never experience without a guide.Written January 5, 2025
- Steven W0 contributionsI would definitely do this againIt was a fun way to get out and see several locations and eat different types of foods. The bicycles were nice and a good size for myself as I am a large person.Written December 9, 2024
- Sightsee7779670 contributionsFantasticI wanted to find a fun way to see the city with my 12 year old daughter - this tour was perfect and we had a great time with Mayco. She answered every question we had and even took time to help us find a couple of things we needed. It was great touring the city on bicycles and seeing significant sites; lunch was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this tour.Written December 8, 2024
- J2273PAdrewd0 contributionsOsaka must doA great way to see the sights and enjoy some great local food. Mayco was our guide and she was wonderful a must do in Osaka. Mayco was very knowledgeable on the local area and history and provides valuable insights into other activities you may want to do during your visit ❤️Written December 3, 2024
- 48innap0 contributionsOsaka food tourWe enjoyed this short bicycle ride around the eastern part of the city with 5 stops to try various local foods. While some dishes were questionable (for example, the Korean pancake), this trip was a chance to talk to the local about everyday life of the Japanese and their eating habits. The guide Maiko was easygoing and spoke fluent English. This tour was our way to break ice with certain local foods we hadn’t tried before. The bicycles were decent quality, helmets and bottles of water were provided.Written November 26, 2024
- Smith2013xxx0 contributionsSuperb 5hr tourMayco was an excellent tour guide for our cycle trip. She has a wealth of knowledge that she shared and was happy to answer all of our questions. Mayco comes from Osaka and speak excellent English and has a wonderful sense of humour. Lunch was included and she encouraged us to try various food and drink. Would definitely recommend this tour. Great way to see Osaka.Written November 25, 2024
- Nadine F0 contributionsCycling and see the Town in a other wayExcellent cycling experience in neighborhoods! You can see many graffiti Work and listen to the stories from Eric. He is a great expert in arts. And you can enjoy local Coffee, Snacks and go in a Pizzeria. Thanks for the pleasant Tour.Written November 20, 2024
- chjb1230 contributionsCulinary delight! We had a wonderful day trying many delicious foods around Osaka with Mayco, we left with full stomachs and heaps of culinary recommendations for our remaining time in Japan. Thanks for your generosity discussing Japanese life and culture Mayco!Written November 12, 2024
- victorvE69LQ0 contributionsImpressive and beautiful way to discover hidden gems in Osaka! What a great tour! We were very lucky to have a private tour with Erik, who showed us a beautiful and definitely not so touristy part of Osaka on comfy bikes. We highly recommend this tour if you’re into (street) art, if you enjoy cycling, or if you simply want to explore Osaka beyond its crowded center. We also had some very nice stops on the way, where Erik made sure to accommodate our dietary wishes (vegan). Thanks a lot, Erik!Written November 10, 2024
- DaveandApril0 contributionsThe best experience of our trip.If you really want to experience the street art scene in the back streets of Osaka, this tour is the best. Eric, an artist himself is extremely knowledgeable about the vast number of wall arts we visited. But there’s more which added to the experience…and that was the food and drink experiences throughout the tour. We met friendly locals in a pub, where we had some local delicacies and store owners like Hughsey, who has a NY style pizza shop. This was all part of the tour. We highly recommend this tour if you enjoy biking around back streets as an experience. Thanks Eric, Dave and AprilWritten November 8, 2024
- chrishoiboi0 contributionsMost Amazing Bike Tour!Matt was our tour guide today on 11/4 at 10:00. One word to describe the tour. AMAZING. I’ve gone on many bike tours around the world and this is easily in my top two. Not only did Matt exemplify an experienced tour guide with how he managed the group, he also was able to share with us effectively his vast knowledge of Japanese history that was easy to listen to and digest. Biking all day felt like only a couple seconds and it was all over. I CANNOT recommend this tour enough, especially with Matt! Keep up the great work!Written November 4, 2024
- laurenbB2728XW0 contributionsA wonderful trek off the beaten pathThis bike tour was definitely one of the top highlights of our trip to Japan. We covered a lot of ground away from touristy areas, saw a lot of great art, and visited food spots that we otherwise wouldn't have discovered. Navigating the crowds and shopping centers on bikes can be a little tricky if you're not used to it, but our guide was flexible to the pacing of our group (which had a wide range of bike experience) so no one got left behind. We had great conversation, and a great time. Our guide even gave us recommendations of other restaurants to check out on our own later in the evening, which ended up being very memorable as well. Thanks Eric!!Written October 30, 2024

Excellent cycle tour. Matt guide of our tour and also the owner were very accommodating. We had booked a private tour for our group of 9 people for 3 hours however it started to rain just before our tour and we were not so keen on cycling in the rain for 3 hours. They adjusted our trip for 2 hours and we had a great time going around the city.

My wife and I did this tour, it was fantastic to see Osaka by bike, it's such a bike friendly place! The guide, Matt, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. He had an amazing knowledge of the history of Osaka, and touched on many eras so we could understand how the city has evolved overtime. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get out and actively explore Osaka from a locals eyes. I would recommend locals do this tour as well! 5 stars :)

We had such a phenomenal experience on this bike tour! Matt, who is American but has lived in Japan for years, really gave us a locals tour of Osaka, packed with fun anecdotes and colorful history/cultural lessons. We learned so much during our short time with him. Even though the weather was brutally hot that day and we were all soaked in sweat by the end, he kept our spirits high the whole time. He really is the best tour guide we have ever had in any of the countries we have traveled to, and this was easily the best guided bike tour we've done. The Trek bikes they gave us were pretty high quality, and we felt safe the entire time despite biking through the city in the middle of lunch. We would absolutely do this again and highly recommend it!

This bike hour was one of the best parts of our Osaka trip. Our guide Mayco was super friendly and very knowledgeable about Osaka’s landmarks and history. She paints a great picture of the cultural importance of a site while sprinkling in lesser known fun facts. Also felt the routes were safe and solid for even novice riders. She even adjusted a bit for us to enjoy the unexpected plum blossoms nearby Osaka castle. 100% recommend

"So there I was, queuing up in line with my wife for 20min when the lady behind us asked politely what we were queuing up for. I shrugged and looked expectantly at my wife... who calmly looked at me and said: I dunno! Guess we're about to find out".
Oh, Matt... storyteller, comedic stand-up and amazingly knowledgeable cycling guide who regaled us with stories and anecdotes of life in Osaka, Japan (incl the alleged Japanese' love for queuing). Made all the difference and was so remarkably patient and understanding, with my 9, 12 and 14 year old kids with differing abilities on the bike.
Our only regret was that the time flew by so fast! Would totally recommend this tour and would book it again if the chance arises. Till next time!

We booked through a 3rd party website, which made it difficult to communicate well with the tour operators, but Cycle Osaka tried hard to reach me through any communication possible to let us know that our original tour had to be canceled. They were very helpful and accommodating to try to find a time and date that would be best for us to reschedule. Although we didn't get the same tour we initially booked, it ended up being the tour we needed! We went on a shorter 3-hour bike tour with Matt and we were the only party during this time. This 3-hour bike tour was a good amount of time for our first bike ride in Japan. Cycle Osaka opened up a different tour time for my family because we weren't able to attend their earlier time. For this, we are so grateful! Matt was a great tour guide! With only us 2 bikers and Matt biking around, we were able to learn so many interesting historical facts about Osaka. The sights we saw were great, but the biking around the interesting city was the best part. Biking was intimidating but Matt made it easy to follow at a good speed and had many stops to point out for us. I wish I could've taken more pictures or recorded the bike ride, but I was focused on not dying by biking into people or things. We appreciate the effort Cycle Osaka took to work with our schedule! It was a great biking tour and would definitely come by again!

I've been to Osaka before but this tour gave me so much more insight and context into the history and stories that contribute to the city today. Our guide Matt was very knowledgable and welcoming, with a relaxed pace and guiding style that suited our group. We used a mixture of standard and e-bikes which were comfortable and easy to ride. I really enjoyed this tour and recommend it!

Akira did a wonderful job giving us a snapshot of Osaka from the perspective of a local! He was super knowledgeable about the history and culture and brought a whole lot of enthusiasm to the tour. He also went out of his way to make sure we all felt as comfortable and safe as possible biking through the streets of Osaka.

Super fun to cycle a couple of hours through Osaka. Our host Mayco brought the city to life with good stories and historic backgrounds. Often illustrated with old photographs to point out the way Osaka has been changing over the century. To be recommended, thanks Mayco!

As first timers to Osaka this was an awesome way to see and learn about the city. The ride itself was relatively easy and flat so no problems for people of all fitness levels. We were told about the history of Osaka which was especially interesting. Our guide Yuki was very knowledgeable, eager to tell us all about Osaka and more than happy to answer any of our questions. Would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Yuki!

As long as they can all ride a bike and you are there I don’t see why not. Just book it and pay and when you get there in the morning is the tour, don’t mention anything

I am wondering how strenuous of a tour this is. I do bike at home and am in good physical health. About how many miles are covered in these three hours.
Written January 22, 2020
Hey, the tour is not strenuous at all. Almost all flat, only a couple of hills. Maybe around 10km total.

Hello,
I will be arriving at Tempozan cruise terminal at 12pm on Friday 4th October (celebrity cruises). I would be interested in booking my sister and I onto the three hour bike tour which starts at 2pm. Please can you tell me a) the best way to get from the cruise terminal to the start point and b) if we will have enough time to get from the end point of the tour back to the cruise ship terminal before the boat departs at 7.30pm?
Many thanks for your help!
Anna
