Definitely a must if you’re visiting Nagano in the summer. Very high quality bikes, knowledgeable and flexible tour guide, awesome scenery throughout entire bike ride, and we stopped at all the best spots in Nagano. One thing to note is that it isn’t the most beginner friendly tour. I enjoyed it a lot because I’m a triathlete, but it’s a 20+ mile bike ride and my friend who came with me only works out occasionally and he had a hard time making it to the top (steady incline for several miles). He had a lot of fun on the way down though!

This was one of our favourite memories from our 4 week stay in Japan. Ilhom was a brilliant guide, very clear English speaking and incredible knowledge of the area.
We went on a beautiful long ride through orchards where Ilhom found us an amazing apple, I won't give too much away but it wasn't like any other apple we have ever seen nor tasted. We got to see the countryside up close before making our way through a beautiful little strip on Onsen on our way up to the snow monkeys.
After a steep ride up the mountain we were fortunate to see the snow monkeys while they were very active. We went in November and though there was no snow in sight it was still an un-missable experience.
On the way back down Ilhom took us to a kaiten sushi restaurant (sushi train) that was super fresh and delicious. Surprisingly it was also incredibly cheap despite the great quality.
Strongly recommend this tour as it's a great opportunity to see all the sights and still be very active for the day on a high end bike. Would book again.

We ha a great bike tour from Nagano to the Snow Monkeys park. The bikes were great (a Kona Dew and Cannondale Quick4) and our guide, Ilhom was wonderful. We rode along river to the Snow Monkey park. Most of the trip is on a designated bike path along the river and beautiful orchards. It is mostly flat until the end and then it rises gently until we reach the town at the base of the park. We mostly walked from there and then you get to see hundreds of snow monkeys and spectacular fall colors in the higher elevations.
Ilhom was a wonderful guide and very supportive. We learned the history of the towns we passed through and sample the apples that were being harvested as well as a great meal in the historic Chestnut town on the way home. We watched the sunset on the way home and were happily exhausted by the time we made it back to Nagano.

We took this tour in mid-September. It turned out to be a very hot day and our wonderful guide, Ilhom was flexible enough to organise a taxi to see the Snow Monkey Park. For those of you who are wondering what type of tour this, be prepared for a long day of cycling not only through quiet agricultural roads but busy roads with lots of traffic. The bikes were of very high quality and well maintained. At the bike shop they will fit you and properly adjust your ride. If you want an e-bike you can choose that too.
I would recommend that if you wanted to go on this tour be well prepared because it is around 70-75 km (43-46 miles) in length.

This was such a hidden gem. The company Japan Awaits just started offering this tour so I was lucky to be one of just three people on the tour (the other two was a couple). It was actually really fun and interesting getting to know the tour guide and the other couple. I am glad there were not a lot of people or else I might have lagged behind in a large group. The tour guide rode the bike right alongside us and made sure we were ok on the journey.

I am very active and I always book cycling tours when I visit new cities. I booked this since I wanted to see more of the landscape and countryside of Japan. I had always heard great things about Nagano and this cycling tour really allowed me to see the true beauty of Japan outside of the bustling cities. My partner and I got a great exercise out of it too. Look forward to coming back for another cycling tour with this company in the future.

Good evening
i will be in Nagano on the 19th of January 2020.
does your tour run in the winter? if so what can we expect to see/ do?
there are 7 in our party. my wife and i our 3 kids (17, 15 and 13) and my parents.
my parents are in their 70's and in reasonable health, will they be able to handle the cycling?
is there a discount for booking 7 spots?
thank you speak soon Craig
i don’t cycle much. would this cycling tour be too tedious for me?

as long as you have a pretty basic level of fitness you will be fine. Our guide adapted the speed we wanted to go and while the total time cycling was long the pace was maybe 4/10 at it's worst.

Definitely,Nagano is basically the vegetable capital of Japan due to its mountainous location. They make the most amazing vegetable dumplings that have incredible flavour and a huge range. Our favourite were the mountain greens dumpling, pumpkin dumpling and mushroom dumpling. Incredible quality, I'd ask Imhol the guide to help you find them as he was very knowledgeable when we asked him. Unfortunately we asked too late as we had already eaten lunch but did stay in town for dinner

Ilhom, the guide, was very flexible for us. We stayed for roughly an hour though I've no doubt if you ask him on booking he would work around what you are after.
From quick jaunts to full-day outings.
