I can’t recommend highly enough! We had a magical tour in Kyoto seeing all everything on our wish list including a rare sighting of geishas and it also snowed on us at the Golden Pavillion and Bamboo Forest. Our guide Keshara was very knowledgeable about the area and tailored our tour to make sure we could see everything, saving us lots of time dropping us off at the front door of attractions. We visited the following on our tour: - Fushimi Inari Shrine - ⁠Kiyomizu-dera Temple - ⁠Higashiyama Jisho-ji (Ginkaku-ji) - ⁠Nijo Castle (outside look) - ⁠Nishiki Market - ⁠Gion - ⁠Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavillion) - ⁠Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and bridge

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this tour. We had two families and had a private driver. We were expecting a tour by a local as advertised. Instead we had a driver for the day. There was no tour guide - he stayed with the car. He was a lovely man but not a local and communication was difficult. We followed other tour guides to find out information. If you just want an expensive driver for the day go for it, if you want to learn about Kyoto and what you are seeing then do not take this tour.

On a three-day trip to Tokyo we knew we just had to fit in a day trip to Kyoto, even though everyone told us it couldn’t be done. Keshara met us at the Kyoto train station in his spacious, comfortable van. He took us on a memorable tour following a well-curated itinerary he had designed especially for our 3-person group of the very best attractions Kyoto has to offer. Polite, patient, friendly and knowledgeable, Throughout the tour Keshara provided useful nuggets of information about all the attractions we visited and helped us to truly appreciate the beauty of this enchanting city. The highlight of the day was lunch at a truly amazing steakhouse in the famous district of Gion (no geisha sightings unfortunately…). It was a superlative experience. He drove us back to the station where we caught our bullet train back to Tokyo having enjoyed a fulfilling day in Kyoto. We hope to be back in Kyoto soon to more fully savor the city’s splendor. Keshara has promised to reprise his role as our trusty guide. We can’t wait!

Keshara is a skillful driving master, knowledgeable and nimble in busy traffic, handling the large tourist van expertly, steadily and effortlessly, navigating competently the ways and means of Japan. He was able to smoothly meet the needs and demands from our opinionated and divergent group of passengers. Technologically proficient, he was able to show us how to use the Google map when we were lost among the busy crowd. We had a wonderful time sightseeing Japan, thanks to Keshara!

I booked this tour last minute. We are traveling in Japan as a family of 6 with 4 young children so was seeking something that could both fit us and accommodate our unique needs. We were able to select a later time in the day. The guides were able to answer my questions and for anything they didn't know made a strong effort to answer them. We set the itinerary and was able to choose our own adventure. Recommend this for anyone seeking a similar experience in Kyoto.

Went during December, our guide, Keshara has been very helpful and responsive on our trip. To add to the recommended list of destinations, we highly recommend going to Gion for Japanese goods.
