By Ken’s Tours Kyoto
Just tourists walking in crowds and trying to get instagrammable photos in the arch of orange gates. May not have chance to know what's hidden behind of the gates, even just call it "orange gates". We provide a hiking experience in Fushimi Inari which takes you to the main path filled with the famous vermilion torii gates then goes off paved paths, onto ancient trails, into hidden bamboo groves and Buddhist waterfalls.
Begin the tour at the entrance of the world famous shrine, Fushimi Inari shrine. We'll walk around at the shrine, hike at Mt. Inari and will see the thousands of vermilion Shinto gates, a Shinto waterfall and a bamboo forest. You'll hear and learn what Shinto(Japanese native religion) is.

Ken was wonderful. He was so knowledgable! This hidden hike was so cool- he took us behind the Shinto shrine and we found another Shinto shrine in the woods. Walked through a hidden bamboo forest and we had it all to ourselves. What a cool experience!! Highly recommend everyones advice to go early- we went at 7:30 am and there was hardly anyone there. It can get so crowded so I'm glad we woke up early. Highly recommend Ken. He also took the time to help up book a slot to go to the Gion Theatre the next day. He was also so great at taking photos of our family.

Ken was fantastic! We actually booked him for two tours the same day (Geisha and Hidden Hike), and both were great. We learned SO MUCH from him about the temples, shrines, and the history of Geishas (Geiko). His fluency in both English and Japanese was such a gift, and he’s genuinely a good human. He went above and beyond to help us with information and guidance. Please consider booking with Ken if you find yourself in Kyoto - you won’t regret it!!!
