- U668KJmariop0 contributionsUnique ExperienceUnique experience in Kyoto. The place is carefully prepared for a ninja training reflecting the original skills they had. The staff is really kind and supportive and the sensei is an exceptional teacher guiding you and your beloved ones through the moves, skills and teachings. Also at same time is able to make it fun for younger ones. 5 stars not enough form them. Can't recommend enough.Written September 1, 2024

She adapted really well to our two excited boys and also made the session fun and interesting for us two parents too. We all came away having learnt something and had a lot of time together. Thank you.Written July 27, 2024

- taylorbD98AA0 contributionsReally Fun Introduction to the ArtI had a great Time. I took the 2 hour experience and I think it was great for me 1 hour wouldn’t be enough. Delved into some of the history and weapons and tools what were used and it’s honestly super interesting. History of Shinobi is something I’ve always been interested in. This was a great intoduxtion to the Art but it didn’t even scratch the surface and you can tell. I’ve done quite a lot of martial arts and Ninjitsu is one I’ve always wanted to get into but I don’t live in Japan so this is a tough ask. I’d love to get more deeper into ninpō and train it properly but I’ll need to figure out how to even start learning the art officially and properly.Written June 13, 2024

- D3033TGphilw0 contributionsThis was a great ninja training experience! We had an amazing experience. I learned a lot about the life of the ninja, the ninja techniques and had an introduction to the ninja weapons. But the best part was the hands on training in the ninja techniques and weapons. The teacher spoke English and was great at working with students of different skill levels. I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to experience an introduction to ninja training.Written June 3, 2024

- maciejmY2174KU0 contributionsUnique experienceQuite a fun experience in Japan for a foreigner, you can learn a lot about Ninjutsu and try out a lot of different tools and weapons that were used by ninja, with explanation and demonstration. You also get to practice with those weapons/tools yourself, which was very enjoyable. Recommended!Written May 6, 2024

- 186lv0 contributionsAwesome ninja funJust an awesome way to spend two hours doing ninja stuff. I went with my ten year old son and he absolutely loved every second - throwing real ninja stars and using all kinds of weapons and learning secret ninja moves. They send a huge folder of photos and videos after too, which is a great touch. Would massively recommendWritten April 13, 2024
- M1868PCalexg0 contributionsBrilliant experienceAn absolutely brilliant experience! We'd done a 'samurai and ninja' experience in Tokyo which was commercial and a bit disappointing - this was completely different. Top-notch instructor with a high level of training, all delivered in a really engaging way. I've done various martial arts for most of my life and found it fascinating - but so did my wife (untrained), 13 Yr- and 8 yr-old. Throwing ninja stars a hit with all....Written April 5, 2024

We traveled to Japan with six teenagers and knew the Ninja experience would be perfect for them. They loved everything about this experience - from dressing in ninja attire to learning to throw ninja stars and blow darts. The kids felt like they had an authentic ninja experience and now that we are home, even still do some of the hand motions and skills that they learned in the class. It was definitely our favorite memory from Kyoto! Also, the instructors and staff are incredibly friendly and fun to work with. We can’t recommend this experience enough! Thank you Ninja Dojo!

We visited in October. Tomoe was a brilliant master and it was a very enjoyable experience. From weapon handling, to ninja hand signals, to the ninja movement and context awareness - a lot was covered and was one of my sons highlights of a 3 week Japan trip.

Wow amazing experience here. The basics of ninja strategy and weapons are explained thoroughly by the instructor in English. From ninja's meditation to strategy and weapons. Its really amazing how resourceful ninjas are. The girl from the store also very helpful dressing me up and taking pictures of me then sending them through email. Also we got to use the weapons like trying to throw shuriken, use kunai, swords and blowing darts. A must do experience if you come to Kyoto :)

This is a cool experience for all ages and genders. The instructor is very personable and speaks great English. They take photos of the experience and send you a link so you don't need to worry about stopping the fun to capture the moment. We learned the history of the ninja; differences between a ninja and samurai; about the weapons ninjas use; and you practice the moves (with weapons)! It's a blast. Only takes an hour and was a nice break from walking to all the shrines.

First of all - WOW. My partner and I booked the ninja lesson this winter and I’ve got to say, we didn’t know what to expect. We were both up for trying something new and we were blown away!
Our instructor Tomoe, gets you set up with all of the gear and takes you through an in-depth and hands-on crash course in ninja techniques, history, and philosophy. The class was nice and intimate, there was even a staff member who took pictures throughout so you could focus on throwing shuriken or parrying with a katana!
We had so much fun and learned a whole lot. Definitely recommend.

Whilst on our tour in Japan my husband and myself had the opportunity to do Ninja training. The young lady was a excellent teacher and informative with very good English. We learnt about Ninja ways, how to move like a Ninja. Got to throw shuriken stars, blow darts, how to use swords, role play and much more. Another lady took photos and emailed them to us the same day. We also took videos and photos. Would highly recommend this activity.

This was just brilliant! There was a huge snowstorm in Kyoto so I was looking for something indoors to do, I’m so glad I found this. I learned how to use a sword like a ninja, throw the blades spinning weapons, use a blow gun… and I got to do it all dressed in a ninja outfit!
I was on my own and it was great, a really good experience for solo travellers.
Highly recommended

I had a terrific experience. The sensei is very professional. First i learned how to move like a Ninja and then use a wide array of their weapons. (shuriken/Ninja starts, ninja sword, dagger, samurai sword, blow pipe, hand spears and more). It was fast paced and fun with a career professional sensei who also teaches jujutsu at night. Cannot recommend it enough!

I immediately felt immersed as soon as I had the attire on. The professor spoke great English, was easy to talk to, was quite masterful and spunky, and an incredibly fun and patient sensei! I went with my sister, and we really enjoyed the experience.
This will be one of my favorite experiences in all of Japan, and I am grateful that they made Kyoto more than just a city of sightseeing attractions.
They let you take pictures and videos, but they also have a dedicated photographer/videographer, and when I saw this, I expected to have to pay extra to receive these pictures, but much to my delight, these were sent automatically to my email!
At the end, I was even able to talk with the sensei and practice my Japanese, which was extremely rewarding as someone who has spent a lot of time waiting to put my years of diligent ~studying~ (anime watching) to good use.
