A full eight hours of sightseeing can be exhausting so we chose a half day tour. Our guide did a very good job and was extremely pleasant. She took only the two of us on this tour. We saw the Tori Gates, the Golden Temple, and the Bamboo Forest by jumping on and off of local subways. We could not have navigated all this without our guide without making lots of mistakes. The locations visited are three of the most sought sights in Kyoto. The distances between them is rather far so we spent a good deal of time getting from one to the next instead of concentrating on one portion of the city without so much time on subways. This is a great tour if you have only one day but not as time efficient if you have several days to visit.

Thank you very much for booking with us and for taking the time to write a review! It is true that the sites are rather far apart, and the not too efficient public transport system of Kyoto city does not help either. As many travelers want to visit exactly these three sites we have created this tour. But as you say, with several days to visit, one might want to concentrate on a specific part of the city in one day. We hope you got an overview of Kyoto and its culture through this tour. Thanks again and thank you also for your valuable insight.

We had a fabulous tour with our guide Chuji, who took us to the Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Bamboo Forest and Arashiyama and Togetsu Bridge. I loved that transport used local buses and JR trains which was definitely made easier having Chuji to guide us. He imported lots of local knowledge at all of the locations as well as general Japanese knowledge and was a joy to be with during the tour.

Thank you for booking with us and for taking the time to write a review! We are happy to know that you enjoyed being with Chuji and hearing about all kinds of things in Japan. Public transport in Japan can be tricky, but it also gives you an insight into everyday life of the Japanese people.

This is a great tour for those with limited time! My wife and I that we visited the most beautiful places and achieved so much in half a day! Noriko was our tour guide and she was amazing! That day it was just us and she met us on time sharp at 8am! She was very kind and informative (not excessive or too little) throughout the tour of the scheduled places, and she also added custom made recommendations (eg. Waratenjin shrine since she knows my wife is pregnant) and lunch recommendations when our tour completes. We made a new friend and hope to see you again Noriko! I would recommend this tour to everyone!

This was an amazing tour with our guide Tomoko. We enjoyed learning about Shinto religion while exploring Fushimi Inari and Japanese Culture. Exploring Kinkaku-ji and it's local legends, and hearing the wind going through the bamboo groves of Arashiyama while learning about local temples and it's history.

We're incredibly glad that we did the early morning tour as there was barely anyone there at each location, and we finished before everything got too busy.

I'm also incredibly happy to say that I met the friendliest cat at Fushimi Inari and enjoyed every moment of it as well, as it was truly a cherry on top.

Tomoko was an amazing asset to have while exploring, and learning the area from a local. I'm so happy to have experienced this tour, and to have visited such areas in Kyoto.

Thank you very much for joining our tour and taking the time to write a review! We are very happy to know that you enjoyed the tour and learned more about Japanese culture from Tomoko. And on top of that you had a wonderful encounter with a cat. I'm sure the cat was just as happy to have met somebody who cared so much for it.

We did this as a family of four. It was an early start at 6.45, meeting at Kyoto station but well worth it to beat the crowds and some of the summer heat.

Our guide, Tohru, was an absolute gentleman and looked after us very well. We first went to the Fushimi-inari shrine by local train which is only a train ride of a few minutes. Tohru told us all about the cultural and religious aspects of the shrine - the cleansing and worship rituals, got us to lift a rock and make wish, and get our fortune told. As it was so early, there was hardly anyone there and we had a great opportunity to take loads of picture with no one around. And it was good to be leaving as the hordes were arriving.

Next we got the train to the bamboo forest at Arashiyama - a 5-10 minute walk from the station. Again it was very quiet and we were able to make the most of the early visit to take lots of pictures.

Our third stop was supposed to have been the Golden Pavilion but as we had been there the previous day on another tour, Tohru offered to take us to Nijo Castle instead, which was great, although as it was now later in the morning was a bit busier.

All the time, Tohru was able to tell stories and provide information and explanations for what we were looking at and his knowledge (and English) was very impressive.

He even travelled with us on the subway to make sure we got to our next activity, which was much appreciated.

Would thoroughly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our guide was extremely helpful and informative. It was a small group, just my daughter (5) and I and another party.
The tour was all via public transport and walking, which I didn’t mind and was a good way to learn and navigate the beautiful city of Kyoto!
I did however feel that for the cost (roughly AUD$300 for the two of us), more should have been included (we did a tour of Tokyo for the same amount that went to more locations, was by private bus and included lunch).
That being said, we still really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it for those wanting to experience Kyoto!

Our guide Koichiro was the man to see about all things Kyoto! Absolutely full of knowledge about the history of each stop on the tour along with plenty of food and drink recommendations for near our hotel. He even sat down and had a chat with us over tea at the end of the tour. Only downside was it felt like every school in Japan was at the golden pavilion but that didn't stop us learning all about it. Amazing tour and amazing guide! Thanks again Koichiro!

This was the perfect way to see the important sights of Kyoto. From the moment we booked the tour, the communication and the information provided was excellent. The highlight for us was our guide for the day, Tohru-San. He gave relevant, interesting information and he was always very caring and respectful. If I could give our guide a rating higher than 5, I would. Thank you Tohru-San, for a wonderful day!
