Great experience that you can't miss
Jan 2020
As a teenager and a big fan of Japanese culture my daught asked me to see this show last week, she was thrilled! The maiko dance was beautiful and her dress is elegant too, we also had a chance to ask her questions, don't worry, an assistant will interpret for you. The stuff also explained the history this unique culture of Geisha/Maiko, it's very informative. After dancing we strolled along the Gion street, the stuff -- a cute little girl explained to us the stories behind those wooden doors, without her guide we would have missed them. We know that it would be a small group but we didn't expect the group was so small-- 3 Chinese of us and 2 western couple, so stuff can took good care of us.My daughter stil thanks me for taking her to this show when back home. Thank you, I would recommand to everyon

Exceeded all expectations
Jan 2020 • Friends
The tea ceremony and performances by the geisha was so beautiful and elegant, it was an honour to meet a maiko in person! The staff were very kind and informative and made our experience all the more memorable and special by helping us take photos and giving insight to Japanese culture. They also had a wide selection of kimonos to choose from for us to wear, and they did our hair for us too! Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend this to everyone!!

The most rewarding and memorable experience in Kyoto!
The Geisha Tea Ceremony has been one of my most memorable experiences in Kyoto. The show was both informative and entertaining and meeting a real maiko was an experience I won’t forget. The staff at Maikoya are the loveliest people you will meet, extremely informative and happy to ensure you take the most out of the experience. The guided tour also allowed me to learn so many new and interesting things about Japan and Maiko/Geisha culture. The staff are so sweet and we’re happy to take many photos for us on our tour. An experience I will truly treasure.

Most Enchanting and Memorable
Dec 2019
We were greeted with smiles and a calming atmosphere. Within about 10 minutes, after admiring others In kimonos that had chosen just the ordinary tea ceremony, it was our turn to start our dressing experience. You choose the colour kimono you want to wear and there are plenty there to choose from, are then dressed by an expert that wraps you up in all manor of ties, bows along with the kimono. Excitement at this stage is heady. We proceed, taking the small steps the geisha walk to the ceremony room. We were so lucky to have the Geisha rather than the trainee perform this for us. She was just so so feminine and majestic in her dance then showing the very calming tea making process. We then were asked to make our tea using the process shown and traditionally drink the tea after eating the sweets.....very different than I had imagined.
This experience was one of those memorable occasions you will recount forever. You are able to take pictures, respectfully. The Geisha only perform one of these ceremonies a day so booking is advisable Enjoy your wonderful experience and come away a different person.

Tea ceremony not to be missed
I have always been fascinated by the geisha culture and hence decided to pay more than the standard tea ceremony .
It was so worth it and I can honestly say one of my best experiences ever not only in japan but having travelled extensively .
The tea ceremony is normally with a Maiko but we were lucky enough to be entertained by a geisha . She started with her dance which was enthralling . So beautiful and elegant . Following her demonstration of the tea ceremony we sat and asked her questions . Such a passion to continue Japanese culture and traditions and follow her true love of theatre , dance and culture - her eyes sparkled when we learnt that she wanted to become a geisha from such a young age following the love of culture sparked by her grand mother making kimonos . A truly remarkable lady and a pleasure to meet her .
Must add that the lady who led
And translated was a complete
Asset and lovely also
