Great views, fun experience cycling, good guide, cool temples
Beautiful tour to Kyoto's countryside. This was my second time in Kyoto and I had already seen most of the touristy stuff during my first visit so it was quite refreshing and amazing to see the countryside and cool new temples. Henry was amazing as a guide and shared tons of cool info about Kyoto and answered lots of our questions and also took care of everyone's needs with water, finding toilets etc. The bikes provided were also amazing and I had lot of fun cycling as well. The path you take during cycling is easy and comfy and super fun. I didn't consider myself good at cycling and actually never drove one in like 6years but even then I was able to get the hang of it quickly mainly due to how comfortable and easy it was (it has electric assist for climbs and stuff). Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto

Henry was brilliant. Very knowledgeable and caring. We certainly went to hidden gems and avoided the crowds. Our first time on e-bikes and no problems. Well done to the company and especially Henry and the lovely people we met on the tour.

      Awesome, interesting, fun.
Absolutely superb. Sean was very good: knowledgeable, happy to chat whenever we asked questions about anything, took us to spots that were all differently interesting, and the streets in between each spot were interesting travelling in themselves, and he told us his bamboo joke as if it was the first time he told it! E-bikes made it so easy to do the trip which did have a few hills. Sean has obviously done a thorough job researching the route. He is a pro. Thank you.

      Highly recommended…
This was a fabulous afternoon spent touring the area and visiting the bamboo grove. Our tour guide Henry was brilliant and shared fascinating insights into life in Japan and history of Kyoto. He was very knowledgable about Buddhism and Shinto religions and the tour included some of the less busy shrines and temples. It was a real highlight of our trip so far!

      Kyoto bicycle tour
This was a 13 mile ride to several temple sites and the bamboo forest. The electric bikes were super helpful. Henry had a great grasp on Japanese history and really helped us navigate the roads on our bikes. I love taking bike tours in different cities and this was one of the top.

This was my most memorable experience in Kyoto. Extremely knowledgeable tour guide. Got to see parts of Kyoto I would not have had the opportunity to see without a car. If you like to bike I highly recommend.

Henry was a knowledgeable and fun guide. We learned a lot and enjoyed the scenery on our bikes. The tour is comprehensive and just the right amount of stops. We felt safe on the roads and it was wonderful to see neighborhoods.

      Highlights of Kyoto
Absolutely amazing tour with Henry, who explained a lot about Japanese culture, history, present, food and conventions. Some people who came along were a bit slow so we even got to extend the trip. The temples we visited were fascinating and I wouldn't have gone there otherwise. The equipment was amazing, too! If you go to Kyoto, and you're comfy on a bike, you HAVE to make this tour!

      Excellent tour!
This was our favourite activity in Japan. We were a group of seven so we had a private tour with Henry. The e-bikes were great and 25km wasn’t strenuous at all. Henry has been living in Kyoto for many years and so was very well informed and happy to share his views, experiences and history of Japan. The tour was fun, informative and interesting, It lasted for 4 1/2 hours and we felt we got to see the real Japan outside of the touristy spots of Kyoto. We stopped near the end for a welcome ice cream. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting to get under the skin of this fascinating country.

If you are only in Kyoto for the weekend, this is the best way to see a little bit of everything! It's nice having a private tour guide who can teach you a little history about the places you see. Our tour guide, Sean was amazing and he even taught us the proper way to pray at the shrine! The bikes are super easy to ride and get used to, this was my first time ever using one and I had no problems. We would absolutely do this again. The only thing I would recommend is bringing a snack because we did the day tour and I got really hungry.

We booked the Noru e-bike tour to do something a little off the beaten path after battling with the hordes of other tourists at many other places in Japan. It far exceeded our expectations!

Yuta, our guide for the journey, was a perfect combination of fun, humor, and information. He doesn’t just lead you from destination to destination. Instead, he provides historical perspective with a touch of education on Buddhism and Shinto. It’s a way to better understand Japanese culture and beliefs and we all found it enlightening. He shares things that feel quite personal to him and we genuinely appreciated him for it.

The bicycles are great and add some excitement to the tour. Great to see that part of Kyoto while resting our protesting feet after walking so much the days before. If you can ride a bike, you’re good to go.

I won’t delve too much into the locations and leave it to your own discovery. They’re all interesting in their own way, and you will certainly learn more than you might expect.

TLDR: If you’re thinking about this tour, book it. Certainly a highlight of our trip to date! Thanks Yuta and maybe our paths will cross again!

This tour was the highlight of our trip, undoubtedly due to the fantastic guide we had in Henry.
I have never come across such a passionate person with a thirst for the truth and knowledge in every aspect of what he does.
Expectations were high on this tour and Henry delivered what I can only say is something that we will not forget for ever.
The tour had it ALL, we had heaps of fun, plenty of laughs, learnt an amazing amount of history about this beautiful city and I would highly recommend this to anyone and particularly if you are fortunate enough to get Henry as your guide.
Thank you team, thank you Kyoto and especially thank you to Henry.

It was such a wonderful experience and definitely the highlight of our trip in Kyoto!

Sean is a great guide with deep knowledge about Japanese culture. The interesting stories he told about each temple and other historical sites make them come alive. Raised in England before coming to Japan at 18, he tends to view Japanese culture from a western perspective. He’s also very attentive to everyone’s need throughout the tour and took good care of every guest. He brought everyone a bottle of water, and made sure everyone kept up at every turn and traffic light. He kept it at a comfortable pace that no one felt rushed. We went on a day supposed to be at the highest temperature of the year - but it was such a pleasant experience we didn’t feel it at all; and we stopped by a 1000 year old shop to taste their mochi and tea - it felt like a stop in heaven :-) At the end, he gave us a recommendation of restaurants nearby, and send us a summary of the places we went with highlights. What more could you possibly ask for?

I highly recommend this tour to everyone coming to Kyoto - by biking, you get to see Kyoto up close and personal. And the e-bike makes it easy for all ages. Anyone who’s comfortable riding a bike should have no problem with this tour. I guarantee that you will not regret!

Our Hidden Kyoto evoke Tour by NORU was excellent. Our local guide “Yuta” spoke very good English and gave us great insight into local history and culture of all the sites and areas we visited. Our family group ranged in age from 13 to early 50’s and we found the tour suitable for all ages. We visited an authentic old Geisha district (not Gion), rode to a beautiful shrine dedicated to wisdom and intellect, saw the breathtaking golden temple, through a secluded wooded area and lovely old residential neighborhoods and finally to a zen Buddhist compound with exquisite and peaceful zen gardens, where our guide led us through a calming meditation. The weather was fine during our ride, but was cold and windy towards then end, so if touring in winter months we suggest a light weight backpack and warmer layers in case needed (jacket, gloves & hats). The e-Bikes were new and in excellent condition, easy to operate, and Yuta gave us great tips as to best gears and power modes for each stage. Highly recommended experience for those who have a few days in Kyoto, have seen all the popular tourist destinations and are seeking a little more authenticity away from the crowds.

All what they care is money!
Our train got delayed so we missed the trip, we were trying to call them since the morning of our trip to inform them about the situation but no one answered and they called us back just on the time of the trip and were very rude talking to us
We asked to reschedule but they refused asking for full new booking !!
I do not recommend as if anything happened out of your control they will not understand or try to help

Dear Nada Thank you for your feedback. We regret to hear about your experience and the inconvenience you faced due to a delayed train. Unfortunately, our guide was on a morning tour and unable to answer the phone at that time when you rang. Arriving in Kyoto on the same day as the tour can indeed be quite challenging, and as per our booking policy, we are unable to offer refunds on the same day of the tour. This policy is clearly outlined during the booking process to ensure transparency and fairness to all our customers. We were unable to hold the tour for you as this would have meant guests that were on time waiting for at least 30 minutes as you stated you hadn't actually arrived in Kyoto yet and were at least 30 minutes away when we rang you before the tour went out. In future if timing is a challenge it might be best to book private tours as often these are more flexible with delayed start times. We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding. We strive to provide the best service possible and will take your feedback into account to improve our customer support in the future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The business and start line seemed hard to get to at first and out of the way, so plan accordingly and be on time for your reservation. This is YOUR responsibility, not the tour or guide. Be diligent, don’t flake, and arrive early.

That said, once you do the tour the start and launch location makes perfect sense. I.e., awesome tour, it’s in a fabulous part of Kyoto, and the experience exceeded expectations.

PS - if you get him, Henry, the tour guide from the UK we had, is a baller (that’s American slang for the dude was awesome). The company that pays Henry to lead these bike tours needs to pay him even more $$.

Company owner - once/if Henry leaves you will have a heckuva time replacing a guy/guide like him. Without him it’s a totally different experience and I don’t think it will be the same quality for your customers. You have no idea what an employee gem you have in this dude.

This was overall a great tour through the backstreets of Kyoto, led by our great tourguide Yuta. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and helpful with recommendations for things to do after the tour was over. The bike route and stops were great except for one: the stop at Golden Temple during peak tourist hours. It was extremely crowded there and does not fit with the "hidden Kyoto" theme at all. I strongly recommend the tour operator to consider replacing this stop with something else- there are so many other hidden gems in this city! We explored the outskirts of the city later on thanks to the confidence Yuta gave us from this tour. Thanks man!

This was a great way to see North Kyoto! We didn't realize it when we arrived, but everything in Kyoto is more spread out and takes longer to get to compared to Tokyo; the bus system is also a little more complicated (and slower!) compared to the metro. Biking around was convenient and fun, and seeing the city whizzing by was pretty cool. Our guide, Yuta, was super friendly and knowledgable about the area - one of our travellers didn't have much experience on a bike, and he was very patient with her! We really appreciated him giving us more information about the history of the areas /shrines we visited, and we loved getting a taste of the local culture! Yuta also took the time afterwards to talk to us about additional local recommendations, and make sure we knew how to get to our next destination safely.

The e-bike tour was a great time, and I would recommend it to family and friends if they were passing through Kyoto. The e-bikes are easy to use, and they add to the experience by letting you see the side streets and country paths that you otherwise likely wouldn't encounter. Our guide, Michael, was engaging and used his extensive knowledge of the area and its history to enhance the tour. Michael explained the background and customs associated with the various points of interest, which helped us gather a better understanding and appreciation of what was in front of us. This tour is an excellent opportunity for anyone trying to learn more about Kyoto and Japan while enjoying a cycling trip through the city.
