We had only a day to visit Hiroshima/Miyajima and knew we would be pressed for time with everything we wanted to see and do. The main attractions that we wanted to see was Mt Misen as well as the torii gate of the Itsukushima Shrine and then a quick tour of Hiroshima. The best option would be to customize our tour with our tour guide Mie who was informative and flexible with what we wanted to do. We were met by Mie at the Hiroshima train station who accompanied us on another train to Miyajima. We then took a ferry to Miyajima Island were we walked a short distance to the Itsukushima Shrine, took photos during ebb tide near the Torii Gate and then headed up to Mt Misen, were we took the ropeway and then hiked further up the mountain. We then headed back down to the shrine with all intents on touring there, but ended up hanging around the Torii Gate during low tide. We then headed off for a delicious lunch at a local okonomayaki restaurant. After lunch we took the speedboat to Hiroshima where we walked the park and museum. Next thing you know it was eight hours into our tour and we sadly had to say sayonara to our guide...

Mie, our tour guide, gave us an intimate tour of Hiroshima. She is well versed with the area. Based on bus schedule and having to wait, we suggested a walk instead which provided for more visual interaction with the local highlights. It got a bit tiring for some of the senior members of the tour, which she can adjust depending on the group makeup. Highly recommended!

Coco is an exceptionally good guide - very knowledgeable, but also with personal & family involvement; good at explaining; flexible; & tailors the 4hrs to your interests. We had visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum yesterday so to walk in the area & be told more details was great. We also saw Hiroshima Castle & an exciting Food Festival around it, then finished at the beautiful Shukkei-en Garden. Thank you, Coco!

We had one day to appreciate Hiroshima. Our tour guide Mie led us through diverse areas to help us understand aspects of Japanese language, history, gardens, the castle, shrines, the atomic bomb site, peace memorials and the survivors. We learned so much within four hours which we wouldn’t have been able to do alone. Thank you again Mie.
