About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dbabette0 contributionsA special day in a beautiful area outside of Tokyo. We had a great day with Sam touring the Hakone Open Air Museum, the Venetian Glass Museum, and Lake Ashi. It was overcast so we did not get to see Mt. Fuji but the sail on the lake was a lovely experience. Sam was tireless in making all the travel arrangements and guiding us around. We were able to enjoy each location without any time pressure or schedule. He was great company as we spent a lovely day in a beautiful area.Written October 6, 2024

- nedlil0 contributionsPerfect Introduction to TokyoFuji stayed in contact right from our booking, confirming pickup and even texting us that he would be at our hotel early. We discussed our preferences the day before and Fuji formed an itinerary especially tailored to our cultural interests. Fuji was very informative and caring that we enjoyed the day and checked with us to make sure that we were happy with our many stops. He helped us to buy and use our subway passes, purchase an ESim for my phone which by the way saved us hundreds of dollars on our international calling plan which we no longer need. Fuji speaks very good English is formerly an engineer and worked in English speaking countries as well as being well traveled. He taught us quite a bit about Japanese culture and history and we enjoyed a fine sushi lunch complete with lessons about sushi and Japanese beer. It was a great day. We whole heartedly recommend Fuji.Written October 5, 2024

She showed us a lot of local things we may not have otherwise seen, like hidden temples, ancient trees and delicious treats from local food vendors (a special shout out to the custard guy at the morning markets!). Annie paced the guide perfectly and was happy to work with our interests and stop whenever we needed to pop into a lovely local shop. I would highly recommend this tour with Annie, we had a really lovely time.Written October 5, 2024

- Discover503190403000 contributionsA fabulous day of culture, food and learning local transport- all tailored to usSeizo Kamiuto was a fabulous guide. He tailored our 6 hours to our interests, to see the key cultural rate moles abd shrines in Kamakura. He taught us the cultural aspects and we learned about Japanese history. We told him we loved sushi abd he took us to a great spot for lunch. It felt like very personalized treatment at the sushi bar and reasonable price wuth sake. We had matching tea service. Because we tavelled from Yokohama to Kamakura, we took both train and buses. It was our first day in Japan so we learned how to do that, how to use our Welcome Suica we bought at the airport, and how to recharge. It cost about 2000 yen each for the travel. "If" we tried this trip on our own, I am sure it would not have been as smooth a process! Seizo also helped us to print our pre-booked reserved tickets on the Shinkansen at the JR East Office in Yokohama. Again, this went smoothly due to his help. Otherwise we had to get them at Shinjuku Station which felt a bit overwhelming to face or at Tokyo Station the day of the trip later in the month. We felt like Seizo became a friend who we hope we can see again in the future, as we want to come back. Highly recommend a tour with him! There were 2 of us.Written October 5, 2024
- hugogO416JF0 contributionsThe best way to get to know Kyoto in a dayWe were very fortunate to have the opportunity to make this tour with Akira-san, who as a guide was not only competent, attentive, complete and careful, but also great company in general. We laid out what seemed like an ambitious plan of going around key spots in some Kyoto areas and we were able to really enjoy all of them in the alloted time without feeling rushed or feeling like missing out. Akira-san was very well prepared to provide helpful explanations and context to the landmarks, and was knowledgeable of different activities to mix things up in a way that was perfect for us. Akira-san also went the extra mile of making recommendations and helping us make arrangements for restaurants in Kyoto, all of which we were happy with. At first we had booked the wrong dates and initially spoke with another guide who was also immediately helpful and available, so I can say between that and our experience with Akira-san - you can't go wrong with this tour because a great guide will certainly be there with you.Written October 5, 2024

this tour was a highlight of my trip to Japan. I knew that I needed to see Hiroshima and learn more about the history of the city and Yuko was the perfect guide for my trip. She was knowledgable and patient with my questions. Her love for the city and her passion to share the complicated story and its historical importance made the experience more meaningful for me. Can't recommend this enough. Request Yuko, if she is available!

I will save them in my phone forever. Plus, I am happy to know that the tour of Hiroshima was meaningful for you. Your words make me think that my job is worthwhile. I came to Hiroshima on a mission to get away from Tokyo and Yokohama. I found a sense of peace, serenity, sadness, and humility with the people of Hiroshima. It was my first time being in a city in Western Japan. The people of Hiroshima/Kure are rough but down to earth. Their speech is not as soft as what I am accustomed to in Tokyo or Kanto region. I was happy to hear a lot of interesting accent differences that my guide taught me. My guide Yuko took me to the Atom Bomb museum and Miyajima. We filmed together one of the most intense iphone videos I ever made in a museum. This experience was touching and very powerful. Yuko being from Kure taught me many things in our short interaction. She exhibited to me a different flavor of the Japanese spirit. She is the epitome of a very hardworking, happy go lucky demeanor. I think Hiroshima is a very beautiful city and an example of a Japan that has healed from a difficult past. Miyajima is a big contrast from Hiroshima. It is a very peaceful island and was untouched when the bomb was dropped. Nonetheless it was nice to try some local food and I highly recommend the oysters as they are a delicacy in this prefecture. Thank you Yuko I hope to see you again. またね笑!

Thank you for your kind comment. It was very fortunate that I got to give you a tour in Hiroshima before the omicron surge. The nice and warm weather made me feel relaxed at the peace park and Miyajima.
It was a nice surprise that you were interested in my hometown Kure and its culture. So much so that I was excited to talk about the naval port town, its food and the film locations for “yakuza”movies! From those pictures you took in Kure, I can tell you had a good time there. I am glad you liked your oyster lunch. If you have another chance to come here in summer, we could try some conger eels that taste the best in summer. また会いましょうね!-Yuko

Noriko-san understood how to make the most out of our day. She was great at tailoring it to suit iuour needs. She took us to some less well known sights at both the temple on Miyama, as well as the Peace Park. We learnt to speak some Japanese and origami and ate some great food. She was great at explaining the background to what we were seeing and even shared some of her personal experiences. We greatly enjoyed the day, thought it was well worth the money we spent and could not recommend Noriko-san more highly.

Dear guests,
Thank you so much for a lovely review for me.
I was so impressed that you offered the paper cranes you folded to the Children’s Peace Monument spontaneously.
I was also happy you liked all Miyajima specialties I recommended such as broiled conger eels on rice, raw oysters and maple leaf shaped pastries.
Thank you again for visiting Hiroshima and joining our tour.

Unfortunately we did not have good experience with Japan Guide Agency in March 2023. We had booked a full day tour in Hiroshima. I had lots of communication with our guide ahead of time and it was all planned. Payment was to be charged to my card automatically two days before the tour. Due to my credit card being compromised during the period between booking and the date of the tour, my credit card number had changed and I had not thought to contact JGA to change the number over. Rather than contact me to say they were having trouble with my credit card, they simply sent me an email the day before our tour saying it had been cancelled. If they had contacted me, I would have simply given them the updated card number. I tried and tried to contact them, to no avail. On the cancellation email, they said "rebook here", and so I did that and received tickets via email for our new tour. (this was now the evening before we were in Hiroshima). However, on the day of our tour no guide showed up and I still could not get a response from anyone at JGA. No one was answering their phones or returning emails, even when I called an "emergency number" that another JGA guide gave me. A full week after we left Hiroshima, I got an email from JGA saying no guide had been found for our trip. I looked on their website and there is a note saying "Due to high demand, we are currently not accepting new bookings for Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kamakura, Nikko, Hiroshima until May 1st, 2023". So why did they give me an option to "rebook here", send me tickets and charge my credit card?? Bottom line: we were extremely disappointed to be left on our one day in Hiroshima with no guided tour, tickets to a rebooked tour that didn't actually exist and a chare on my credit card (which they have now apparently processed a refund of). I am sure we would have enjoyed the tour if it had happened, but buyer beware: make sure there is no change on your credit card number before the date of your tour or they will cancel it on you. And even if they send you an email with tickets, you may not really have a firm tour until they send you a further followup note with your guide's contact details.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Since customers have a 24 hours window to cancel reservations with no penalty, viator/trip advisor will not charge you until much later after your reservation for many cases. If your credit information changed and a payment cannot be made, they will cancel your reservation. Please be sure to check all of your information so that you do not have this unfortunate experience again. At JGA, we are unable to rebook and approve of payments on short notice, so please be aware of that this may be the case for other bookings with other places as well. We wish you the best!

We loved and would highly recommend this tour. Sei was a wonderful guide who met us at our hotel and took us to see the highlights of the Hiroshima area. He was very organised, efficient and personable. We enjoyed his company. He explained how the tour would work and, as we are keen walkers, it suited us extremely well. Sei was able to answer all our questions and was amenable to change of the itinerary if needed. His explanations and guidance helped our understanding of Japanese customs, people, places, history and food. We were moved by the Peace museum and park tour, captured by the beautiful garden and castle visits and enjoyed the Miyajima Shrine Island with its very special Buddhist pilgrimage cave that Sei gave us the privilege of visiting. We opted not to visit the Shinto shrine as we had seen similar in Kamakura. Your choice - Sei was very accommodating of our suggestion to change the itinerary. We had Suicca cards and JR passes for trains and ferries but you’ll also need cash for the gardens and peace museum. We left our hotel near Hiroshima station at 8.30 am and didn’t return until 3.30. Excellent day out. Be prepared for tears at the museum. Thank you Sei. You made our day.

We had an incredible day with our guide Noriko. Noriko was the best guide ever! She communicated with us in advance, understood our preferences, prepared a customized itinerary, modified it a few times on our request, helped us book the right train to Hiroshima, received us at the platform at the station, and gave us a tour of both Miyajima and Hiroshima in 7 hours that would have taken us several days in our own. Noriko made sure we covered most of the major tourist attractions and took us to some local spots that only true locals would know. We got to see some amazing cherry blossoms in bloom at spots that didn’t have any tourists while all the touristy spots were very crowded. She made sure we got to use our time optimally and had made reservations for us at some amazing restaurants well in advance so we got a nice culinary tour as well! In Hiroshima we had an emotional and education experience and we were very grateful that Noriko shared personal stories and the historical record with us. She finished the tour by teaching us all how to fold origami paper cranes. Truly, Noriko is the best guide we’ve had the good fortune to connect with. I highly recommend her and her tour. Thank you so much Noriko!

Thank you so much for writing such a lovely review for me.
It was a busy day and so crowded as it was the time when cherry blossoms started to bloom.
So we had a quite tight schedule on that day.
Without your cooperation and help, we would not have been able to complete our itinerary on that day in a completely efficient manner.
Thank you again for your help.
I was happy you enjoyed beautiful scenery with cherry blossoms especially on Miyajima island.
I hope you will come back to Miyajima in autumn when you will see beautiful autumn leaves next time.
Enjoy your trip in Japan.
Best regards,
Noriko

We were taken on a private guided tour of Miyajima island and Hiroshima by our lovely tour guide Nobuyuki (Nob). This was the most amazing tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Japan.
Nob met us at the train station at 9am and had planned out a detailed itinerary for the day to ensure we saw everything we needed to see. We began by getting the ferry to Miyajima island where we visited shrines and temples. Nob constantly provided information about everything we were seeing and told us interesting facts about the island that we would not have otherwise known about, making the trip all the more worthwhile.
Nob also took us for a delicious lunch at a local spot which he had booked in advance.
We then headed to Hiroshima which was an incredible experience and something everyone should do at least once. Particularly the museum which showcased the tragedies of nuclear weapons. Nob made this experience even more valuable by providing personal stories and explaining the history of Hiroshima so that we left with a much deeper understanding of the city and its history.
This was a 10/10 experience and we left at the end of the day having had an incredible time. We want to say a special thank you to Nob who was a fantastic tour guide with exceptional English!

Yuji provided a perfect personalized tour of Miyajima island for my husband and I. He had Wonderful informative laminated cards full of information on history, culture, expressions, language, and local food that was very useful for us to read on the train to Miyajima island. Once on the island, we visited the main shrine. After, we explored the upper shrines where Yuji explained Shinto and Buddhist beliefs in great detail. There is an underground passage with illuminated buddhas which he led us through while chanting a Buddhist prayer for our families. The experience was transformative and beautiful-something we will always reflect upon. Our trail back to the ferry led us through natural paths with high views of the island and friendly deer. Yuji treated us to playing his wooden flute in a peaceful wooded area on the trail. We then went back to Hiroshima for some out of this world okinomoyaki. Yuji had very detailed information about each place for us to read to select which place we wanted to try. After trying okinomoyaki several times in Tokyo and Osaka, hands down, Hiroshima style wins! We then walked to the A bomb building and several significant spots around memorial peace park. We chose to see the museum on our own, but Yuji gladly understood as the day was getting late. Yuji is very friendly, sincere, and has a local perspective of Hiroshima. He shared his parents’ experience as elementary children feeling the impact from 75 kilometers away. We could easily come back and have a full day tour in Hiroshima again with Yuji. Highly recommend this tour! If we could, we would have Yuji show us around other sites of Japan for several days. A must if you are in Hiroshima. Thank you, Yuji!!!

Thank you for your nice review to me. I was very glad I read it. Due to Covid-19, I haven't had much work as a tour guide for the last two years. So I was a little nervous on the day of the tour, but your friendly attitude to me and interest in Japanese culture made it a more understandable guide. Yes, it was a really great day. We enjoyed to exchange our
cultural backgrounds and I heard some interesting information about Eastern Europe. I would like you to enjoy traveling all over Japan while staying in Japan. Probably you can easily find the rabbit hole that leads to the wonderland of Japan. Finally, I much appreciate the God for arranging this meeting with you. see you again. Yuji.

This was an incredibly interesting and enjoyable tour, due in large part to our amazingly good tour guide, Seiichiro “Sei” M. If you can arrange it, you should ask for him specifically. He was extremely responsive from the time of booking through the end of the tour. He even met us on the platform of our train from Kyoto as soon as we stepped off, saving us the hassle of trying to find him somewhere else in the station. Sei catered to our desire to see as much as possible and his itinerary did not disappoint. He knew when we should hop in a taxi to get around Hiroshima and he also knew when it would be more efficient to take a train. Sei got us a private screening at the Peace Memorial of a 30 minute documentary about the dropping of the bomb and its after effects. He made sure we stopped at a Japanese garden, which was beautiful given the peak cherry blossom time, and we spent the perfect amount of time there. We were on the fence about going to Miyajima before we booked this tour, but it was definitely worth it, particularly because there is much more to see than just the famous gate, and Sei’s narratives were extremely interesting. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and am very happy we had Sei as a guide!

We took the bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima and were greeted by our friendly guide named Sei. He was flexible to our schedule and group, which was so helpful how quickly he could adapt. Sei is knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Hiroshima and elects to spend his retirement years showing visitors around town. We are so grateful for his insider knowledge and ease of access to all of the sights we wanted to see. He even booked us a short private screening about Hiroshima while he stood in a 45 min line to get us museum tickets!!! Also - Sei was well organized and moved us along at the perfect pace. Your heart will feel his empathy and compassion towards those who were lost, as well as his excitement at the many unique locations he will take you to! Highly recommend this tour with Sei, we only regret we didn’t book two days with him and look forward to spending more time in Hiroshima with him when we return! We are in our early 30s and enjoyed all aspects of this trip. We have been touring around Japan and Sei was by far the most historically knowledgeable guide we have had yet! Great English! Didn’t include all pics to keep his secret spots a surprise :)

We took guides in a number of cities. None of the guides had cars to pick us up. Depending on the city, they met us at hotels and took subways, trains, public buses or walked. I suspect that you can arrange for the guide to take you by taxi to the train station and help you with the lockers. In Hiroshima we walked to some sites, took public buses to other sites, took a ferry to Miyajima Island. You need to use a tour company that can adjust o your needs and schedule. For every city, the guide emailed us long before the tour. In Hiroshima we changed the sequence because we wanted to end up on Miyajima and stay longer there than the tour duration. The guides are all very accommodating as long as they know ahead of time. All of our guides were independent and got their assignments from the tour companies from online listings. Just be clear what you want and need.

do we need to go to all the places mentioned in the itinerary, or can we choose specific places in the list?
we would like to maximize our 6 hr tour with the following places in mind
1. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (does this include the Atomic Bomb Dome?)
2. Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima)
3. Onomichi
4. Hiroshima Castle

Hello
You can definitely do that, just make sure you tell the tour guide what would you like to do and they can help you

Good day! I would just like to ask if there is a possibility of the start times to be adjusted from 9 AM to a later time? My family's flight will be arriving at 8:45 AM at the Kansai International Airport and from the information we've received, it takes about 2-3 hours to go to Hiroshima via JR. We really hope to go to Hiroshima on that day as that is the only free day with have for our trip. Thanks.

If the tour starts from 9 am. At what time is the pickup from the Shinkansen ticket gate of Hiroshima Station?

My trip is confirmed and I asked the supplier to collect me from my hotel. However the TripAdvisor site displays an error when I tried to review my booking. So I can not verify that the supplier will collect me.
