- 1bar2far00Excellent organization and operation for ShiretokoTravel Hokkaido excelled with a three night tour of eastern Hokkaido and the Shiretoko peninsula. Peta helped us with finding the right hotels to stay in and gave good organizational assistance to get us started, including a whale-watching cruise. Once we arrived in Kushiro our driver, Ochan, brought it all to life with a lively driving tour over the course of four days. He was great company, spoke good English and we enjoyed more than a few laughs as we toured. He shared some of his 'secret' or less well-known locations and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We would highly recommend Travel Hokkaido.
- Edmundteo8600Thoughtful and meticulous - Customized Eastern Hokkaido 11D tripOur holidays are primarily self-planned. We wanted to head to Eastern Hokkaido to search for some rare birds and explore the sights and sounds of the area like a local would. However, Eastern Hokkaido was slightly harder to research than the more popular parts of Hokkaido. We found this company and Peta-san attended to us. Our entire itinerary was planned carefully and thoughtfully based on our objectives, with endless consultations with us every step of the way. Every day of the 11 day trip was fantastic. Overall a very earnest company. Amazing first impression was made as it seemed like our experience was the priority rather than maximizing profits. Costs were very reasonable throughout. Would really recommend to anyone who needs help with their trip planning. My wife and I had the best holiday thus far. Best anniversary trip ever.
- vicentejoseb96600Explore Yoichi & Shakotan BlueWe were only the 2 of us (due to Covid limited trip bokings) so we felt really personal and intimate. Beautiful scenery around Yoichi & Shakotan Blue enhanced by the explanations of the guide. The guide (Yama-san) has a very good English understanding so the communication was easy. It was very nice from him of taking pictures of us on the different locations. Being an all day tour, we had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy all there was to see and do (the guide adapted very well to our more "adventurer" personal expectations). Overall, a really nice and memorable experience. Highly recommended.
- vicentejoseb96600Explore Lake Shikotsu, Toya & Mount UsuWe were only 4 so we felt more personal and intimate. Meal exceeded all our expectations. Beautiful scenery in both lakes enhanced by the amazing tour to the volcano (Mount Usu). Being an all day tour, we had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy all there was to see and do (maybe the recommendation would be to have more time at the volcano since the entire trial takes significant time to complete). Even though an English speaking tour guide was not available, we were given a lot of detailed information in advance in a tour print out booklet. Overall, a really nice and memorable experience. Highly recommended.
- JeremyHernandez8800Magical place. Worth the travelIt was a nice place. Free bento was delicious. We were toured by Enchie (dont know the correct spelling) she was pleasant. Long hours drive but the driver was professional. White cocoa is a must try in the ice village. Overall it was worth it and definitely going back again with our kids.
- 421leighc00Awesome night tripHad an awesome time at the ice festival at night. Such a beautiful place and even better with all the lights illuminating the ice. Favourite part was the giant ice wall and slide
- Mleemalai00Fresh seafood and lovely placeWhen I come hokkaido, I never miss to come here to enjoy great food and cannel landmark. This is my 4th times. I love hotate, uni and leTAO cheese cake.
- dynamic1400Awesome experienceOpen daily from 9am - 10pm, the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival only happens about 3 weeks in Jan/Feb. Hubby had booked the tour even before arriving in Japan and we were looking forward to discover this yearly festival. We met our tour group at the JR station and it took us about 1.5 hours to reach the site by bus. Our guide brought us around to familiarise us with the surroundings before we met again at 4.30pm for an early dinner. We took the opportunity to snap some pretty pictures of the lake and check out the ice festival where various ice sculptures were exhibited as well as an ice rink and a slide. There is an Observatory which we did not visit due to the many steps. Also a museum at the visitor centre. Various food outlets are on site and we had a lovely dinner at one of them together with our group. The ice cream was thick and creamy, made from Hokkaidō milk. After dinner, we went to view the ice festival light up and enjoyed the drum performance. At 6.30pm, on weekends, during the festival, we managed to enjoy the fireworks display before calling it a day.
- sharonybl00An experience at least once if your life timethis day tour was very well arranged, great communication and helpful advise from the day I booked. Our guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. It is a small group so everyone got to know one another and became friends. So it was great! The ice village experience itself was fantastic, lots of snow. I am glad I joined this day tour. It was very very cold (but there is a place to buy hot snacks and drinks plus a place to get warm). Make sure you have waterproof boots and very thermal/wool socks. Tip: get hand and feet warmers which you can buy from the convenient stores before you get on this trip. Dinner was included and it was very good! Thank you, Peta Jeffrey and Mr. Driver (sorry I did not get your name).
- MartinTMRupp00Beautiful local ice festival with super friendly tour guidesWe took this tour because it is very hard to get to the festival just for one day by public transportation. This tour is by far the best option if you want to experience the most of the festival. The festival itself is a must if you are in the area in winter. The ice sculptures are all hand build by local people and the festival area has a very family atmosphere with things to do for kids, couples and everyone. In the small village of Shikotsu you can experiance local foods and drinks. I strongly recommend the hot sake (amazake).
- sashpet00THE people to help you see HokkaidoThings didn’t start out so great as I was at the meeting spot, but no one was there and I had no wifi to communicate. After getting back to my room and messaging them, turns out it was a mistake through Viator, and they then offered to take me personally on the tour I wanted at my next convenience. I was blown away. This is a group that puts the client first. Seeing the volcano at Mt Uzu, the beautiful lakes Shikotsu and Toya, and stunning Hokkaido along the way, was the highlight of my trip. I will definitely return to wonderful Hokkaido very soon, and I’ll be seeing some more with Travel Hokkaido. Highly recommended.
- ericwY6265JQ00Family Friendly TripExcellent and very flexible offered by Peta and her partner. I highly recommend this to those who want to enjoy and seeing the real Hokkaido through this agency. Safety aspect is top priority too. Thanks a lot Peta and her partner. You made my first trip to Hokkaido so memorable.
- aaronsteph00Amazing Tours through HokkaidoStarting in mid-October, my husband and I spent 3 weeks in Japan. Our first stop was Hokkaido. We took 3 tours with Travel Hokkaido after seeing their lovely posts on Instagram. I organized the tours with Peta months prior. She was incredibly helpful and helped me decide which tours would be best. The prices were extremely reasonable as you get picked up from your location, a full tour, lunch and return drop off. All included in the price. We toured Furano and Biei with stops at two lovely Lavendar farms (definitely get the ice cream!). We also did Lake Toya and surrounding areas, as well as Jozankei. The tours are a very manageable size - I think the most people we had on a given tour was maybe 10 people. Our tour guides were two cheerful and friendly ladies from France and Hungary respectively. But they knew enough Japanese to get us around and coordinate the tours. They were a joy to spend time with for the day. The tour lunches were local cuisine and the restaurants were ready and prepared for our party. The tour bus driver was an expert on Hokkaido and knew exactly the best spots to take us for great photos and off the beaten path sightseeing. Booking these tours was the best thing I could have done while in Hokkaido. They were extremely enjoyable. We will be returning to Hokkaido in another year or so, and I will only book with Travel Hokkaido because of this phenomenal experience. Thank you Peta!
- UniversalTrotter00Lake Toya.. lovely autumn vistaVisited Lake Toya on my drive to Hakodate from Sapporo. The vista was amazing with the fall colours or brown, orange, red and green. The cold was welcoming for a traveller used to hot and humid climes. Trekked up the town to visit the destruction due to the volcanic activity. The town is small and quiet. Enjoyed a bowl of ramen at a small restaurant. Worth a trip !
- justinwcooke00Amazing Tour With Thoughtful Host!We had a fantastic day on our personalized tour with Peta. She was thoughtful/helpful, taking us everywhere we wanted to go, and giving us some great information along the way. We had a great time and would highly recommend!

We went to the Lake Shikotsu ice festival night tour and was blown away with the sculptures and lighting. Our bus driving drove very well in the weather conditions! Great place to take your kids as they have a "ice rink" for children only and they also have a SLIDE MADE OF ICE 🤯. This slide is fun for both adults and kids. I loved the fact you could actually walk though the sculptures. The lighting was superb. Our ravel guide was also awesome just letting us explore in our own time and gave us a time and place to meet

A great ice festival to visit if you're in Sapporo for the snow festival. We went there at night when all the ice sculptures were beautifully lit up and it was really impressive. Great place to take the kids, highly recommend it!

Our night trip to the Lake Shikotsu ice festival was cosy warm and tour fantastic, as was our guide and driver who managed well with the heavy snow which caused a small delay in arrival. There was beautiful creative artistry in ice and lights and I'd recommend a visit to this festival with Travel Hokkaido.

Tiana was a great guide for the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival (Night tour) and created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for the entire group. Our driver was amazing, driving through difficult conditions due to weather and traffic congestion (tbh we found out later...we didn't even know the weather was a problem as it was totally new to us?!). We really enjoyed the Ice Festival and laughing at those of us who were brave enough to go down the ice slide! I would def recommend!

I really enjoyed visiting the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival with Travel Hokkaido. Peta and O-Chan were so friendly and made me feel very welcome, which I really appreciated as a solo traveller. The festival itself was small but stunning and I actually preferred it over the larger festivals such as the Sapporo Snow Festival. A must-see for anyone in Hokkaido during the festival season.
