My GF and I just had a wonderful cooking class with Sakura in her nice home. She is a great cook and made the recipe seem simple. Sakura even gave us copies of the recipes. Everything we tried was very tasty.

Shiori-san was the best! So knowledgeable about Hokkaido cooking and traditions. Learning from her was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious!

We had such an amazing time with Shiori-san! Her English is really good and she's an great teacher. She taught us how to make homestyle sushi and it was very easy to follow. On top of that, she had prepared a huge feast for us (karaage, chicken teriyaki, two types of soup and noodles, a salad, and fruit for dessert). Our only regret was not skipping lunch so we could eat more.

Shiori was an excellent host, and she made us feel welcomed to Sapporo and to her lovely home. We learnt how to make home-style sushi and about traditional Japanese meals, some which we hope to make when we're back. Shiori's skill as a cook and her generous sharing were the highlight of our time in Sapporo. Thank you for having us, and for the lovely memories on our last night in the city.

A very pleasant moment where we learnt the basics of the Japanese food with nice hosts. It was a moment apart with open discussion and a good way to discover Japan outside of the standard path.

This was truly a UNIQUE experience and delicious dinner. We were to spend 2 days in Sapporo after a 2week tour of Japan, and we were looking to live an authentic Sapporo/Japanese home cooking experience. So other than sleeping at a ryokan, we searched for something which would give us the chance to dive into the local culture and cuisine despite being a 2-day trip only. The added value of this experience was Shiro! She made sure we were comfortable in her home and truly eager to help us get to know more about their traditional cuisine, while being very open to share about the daily life and habits of a local family. We learned how to make sushi and other dishes, while she had previously prepared a lot of other delicious dishes, including her homemade plum sake which was maturing for 3 years! We spent a great evening (from 6pm pick up time at the station to about 9:30pm), her English was good and with this we really felt like we managed to live a real and authentic local experience without which it just wouldn’t have been the same trip. Thank you again Shiro for opening your house to us and for such a wonderful time!!! PS. By the way I returned home in Italy and have made a sushi party at home, making sushi myself for my friends by following Shiro’s instructions and was a real success!

Shiori and her husband invited me into their home for a great evening of cooking, dinner and conversation. It was a lovely way to experience what local life and food culture is like in Sapporo. I recommend you skip lunch, and make sure you try Shiori’s plum saké, you won’t regret it!

As I’m in Hokkaido studying Japanese, I’m looking for opportunities to learn more about Japanese culture and practice my Japanese. Shiori Ogawa’s Japanese home-style cooking class was perfect. I was introduced to a wide variety of Japanese dishes and was able to practice my Japanese. Since I was the only class participant, Shiori Ogawa was gracious use both English and Japanese. Shiori took the time to explain the conveniences of Japanese kitchens, introduce me to important Japanese ingredients, and kindly showed me the technique of sharpening a knife on a sharpening stone. Prior to my arrival, Shiori had already prepped most of the dishes. I did get to make a maki roll. Then I was treated to a feast of huge variety of delicious homemade dishes.

Shiori our host & cook was very friendly. She assisted us in making Sushi and had cooked up a magnificent array of dishes for us to eat. The meal was delicious & served with beer, sake and her special plum wine. We were collected & returned to the train station by Shiori. A great example of Japanese hospitality & cooking in a Japanese home. Highly recommend this experience.

authentic cooking experience in Siori’s home. Siori taught us how to make fresh sushi in a traditional Japanese way that is different than what we usually found in restaurants. Siori also cooked a very big meal consisting of a variety of traditional Japanese dishes. Everything was delicious and we loved the experience.

My wife and I had such an amazing time with Shiori. She is very kind, gracious, and quite the chef - this meal was better than some restaurants in Japan! It was a true pleasure to spend an evening at her home and one of the highlights of our honeymoon. If you are in Sapporo and looking for an authentic experience with a local, you should make plans for dinner with Shiori. Thanks again for a wonderful evening - we will be back!

We had a great time with Kanae. She picked us up right on time and it was a short drive to her house. My wife is vegetarian. We let Kanae know a head of time and she tailored the menu for us. It was delicious! We would definitely do it again on our next trip!
