During my month-long stay in Hangzhou, Jack made my experience truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, he went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my trip was perfect. West Lake was breathtaking, with serene views and the stunning Leifeng Pagoda reflecting beautifully in the water. Jack’s knowledge of the area brought the ancient Buddhist Temple to life, enriching my understanding of the culture and history. Dining was another highlight, especially when Jack introduced me to Beggar’s Chicken at Grandma’s Home Restaurant—an absolute culinary delight. His recommendation to visit Wuzhen and the water town was spot on, where I had the best lamb I’ve ever eaten, prepared in a traditional style that I’ll never forget. Jack’s assistance with translation was invaluable, making communication seamless throughout my stay. Whether it was navigating local customs, ordering food, or exploring off-the-beaten-path sites, Jack’s expertise and dedication made all the difference. I can’t imagine visiting Hangzhou without him—10 out of 10, highly recommend!

All the places he brought us to were fantastic and everything went smoothly with little waiting, even on a busy weekend day. Over two days, we traversed Hangzhou and Wuzhen, entertained by Jack's stories of ancient history and modern facts. Also thanks to driver Cai who made the car rides smooth and comfortable. Jack, with his larger-than-life presence, overwhelmed upon first encounter. But as he guided us expertly on our magical first trip through China, warmly engaging us with rich insights into the culture and colourful way of life of generations past, he held us mesmerised as we sailed with him on the grand Dragon boat across Westlake, captivated by his fascinating tales of Emperor QianLong during the reign of the prosperous Qing Dynasty. He almost brought to life the legend of the immortal Lady White Snake Bai SuZhen and her romance with the mortal Xu Xian, and of how she was imprisoned by Fahai the Monk under the Leifeng Pagoda, to be eventually rescued by her son in many years to come. Our day in Hangzhou culminated in the most memorable of shows 'Zuiyi in Hangzhou Impressions Westlake' (Enduring Memories of Hangzhou) which is truly truly in a class of its own. We opted for a private 2 day tour of Hang Zhou and engaged Jack as our guide, a bilingual speaker with fluency in English. He was professional, knowledgeable of historical facts of the places we visited and has a great sense of humour. We were able to sample various local cuisine recommended by him and for us, it was a culinary adventure. Hefang street was such a quaint little place with the display of hand skills like the silver smith, art work, production of local snacks and so on. We especially love the Impression West Lake show and it’s not to be missed. Our visit to Wuzhen water town was a throwback to times past with the wooden houses and canals snaking thru’ the village. Kudos to Jack who added to our experience of our memorable visit to this beautiful city.
