      Amazing tour - definitely recommended!
Had an easy and great experience from booking, through to our full day tour. Would definitely recommend this tour as part of your Xi'an experience! Our guide Richard was fluent in English, and shared with us fun facts about Xi'an city, Chinese history and of course, Emperor Qin's terracotta army (as well as random Hollywood movie quotes in between, apparently how he learnt English!). Our driver was great as well, ready with bottled water for us and a nice air-conditioned van. We started the day at 9:30am, first viewing the Wild Goose Pagoda and then the old city wall, before heading to lunch at a delicious local restaurant, then onwards to see the terracotta warriors; drop off back to our hotel about 6:00pm. I would definitely recommend starting earlier - say 8:00am - to avoid the worst of the midday sun (I had thought we would see things in reverse, and be outdoors mainly from 2:30pm onward). Tips: There is a solid 20 mins walk outdoors before you get to the terracotta army museum buildings - bring a hat and sunscreen to avoid sunburn! The museum is extremely crowded so beware of your belongings (Richard reminded us of this too so we were extra careful and thankfully unscathed).

      Historical Xi'an
We arrived in Xi'an by bullet train from Beijing and were picked up at the busy train station by the driver. He was punctual and easy to find with the instructions given by Catherine Lu. My husband and I (both in our 70s) had arranged a 3 days Beijing and 2 days Xi'an private tour with Catherine Lu and they arranged the tours, all transfers and bullet train tickets for us. The Terracotta Warriors, the highlight of Xi'an, was fascinating. The excessive building of Emperor Qinshihuang to ensure a safe afterlife was in full display. The next day we went to the Hanyang Tomb with its mini Terracotta warriors. The contrast of Emperor Qinshihuang's extravagant tomb and Emperor Jingdi's large but more modest one was telling of their different styles as rulers. Our guide, Ding, was able to explain the complex history so that we could fully appreciate what we were seeing. We also visited the Big Goose Pagoda and the Dacien Temple, again Ding helped us appreciate the history. The City Wall and Muslim Street were also included in our tour. Ding also took us for two lunches of local food. They were enjoyable and at restaurants we may not have ventured into on our own. If history is your interest Xi'an shouldn't be missed. As with anywhere in China, be prepared to do alot of walking, although Xi'an was mostly flat so it was not difficult. Definitely get a guide to explain the history. We were lucky to get Ding!

Xi'an 2-day private classic tour with Julia
We spent 2 wonderful days in Xi'an with the help of our tour guide, Julia. We were picked up at our hotel each day and travelled to the sights by car throughout the day. On the first day, we visited the Big Goose Pagoda, the Terracotta Army and the Muslim quarters and we also saw a great show about the Silk Road, which was recommended to us. On the second day we started off at the Hanyang Tomb, followed by the Bell and Drum Tower and finished on the City Wall. For lunch, we had biang biang noodles in a small town local and dumplings in a popular restaurant in the city centre. Julia was very knowledgeable and introduced us all the sights very thoroughly (with very good English) and we also learned more about the locals every day life. It is not our first time with Catherine Lu Tours, so would highly recommend any tour with them for a memorable experience.

      Xi’an one day extraordinaire
Julia was our guide for the one day private tour we had in Xi’an. Despite being May 1, the start of the holiday , she has taken us to all the planned touristic destinations we planned The Terracotta Army, Wild Goose Pagoda, Muslim street. Moreover , at her suggestion we also saw a very popular show and she arranged for the tickets on the spot. She took us to a local restaurant and ate the local Biang Biang Noodles speciality. She is very knowledgeable, her English is very good and very friendly, warm personality. She really made our day in Xi’an feel very special.

      Best experience in China!
You don’t need to eat the day before this experience. Had a ton of tasty food I’d never have been able to find by myself! My tour guide Elith answered my many questions, and went above and beyond helping finding me some tea I’d asked about. But mostly it was a lovely evening and like hanging out with a friend and great food!

Xi-an - Get over here and take a tour
Fantastic tour with Julia as guide. We didn’t have long in the city, the tour was perfect. Car pick up from hotel, biking on the city wall, the temple, lunch was delicious and then the warrior’s- just mind blowing. Get over to Xi-an, Covid is done and gone, enjoy a vibrant city with a beautiful history. Julia was knowledgeable, patient, friendly and made the day a memorable one that we will never forget.

      Fantastic tour with Julia
We had a fantastic time as a family in Xi'An with our english speaking guide Julia. Julia was a wonderful guide and I highly recommend her and that you ask for her for an english tour. Julia took us to the top sights in Xi'An, and organized an efficient day for us that allowed us to maximize time and we were able to get dropped off at the airport, we were grateful that Julia accompanied us to the airport. The driver was excellent and friendly as well. Julia was warm and explained not only the history and tour of Xi'An, we also truly enjoyed conversation with her throughout our day together. We truly could not have imagined a better tour. The lunch was local and delicious, filled with Xi'An local foods and Julia especially went to an additional place to buy local snacks for us. We are so grateful for this experience, to see amazing city wall, Terracotta soldiers/army, pagodas, and we look forward to a future visit to Xi'An and tour with this company and hopefully Julia!

      Great tour, highly recommend!!
Great tour! The car is super big and comfy, the driver drove safely. Our guide Richard was very friendly and knowledgeable, he spoke perfect English and answered all our questions about china, Xi’an and the warriors. He was very patient as we travelled with our 15 month old daughter and she wanted to walk around and stop all the time, but he tailored our visit to fit her needs. Great experience, the warriors are impressive!

      Great Tour!
Very good tour of the Terracotta Army. Takes you to around the entire thing at a reasonable pace. You are also free to spend more time after if you want. It’s great that you just meet at the bus station, which is far easier and cheaper imo. Our guide Elith was super nice and explained the history really well.
