    Excellent tour in Xian
Excellent tour in Xian and sourroundings. Visited the Terracotta Warriors Army, had an excellent noodles lunch, then visited the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi and back in Xian visited Goose Pagoda and Art Street. Rosa is a very knowledgeable guide, explained everything in detail, I learned a lot and had a very good time. Highly recommended!

Amazing day in Xi’an with Rosa!
With only one full day in Xi’an, this tour was the perfect option to visit some of the key sights. As we don’t speak any Chinese we wanted an organised private tour for guidance so we could focus on enjoying the day. Rosa was the perfect tour guide from start to finish. She arrived on time and was friendly and approachable. Rosa took lots of pictures for us throughout the trip and answered any questions we had. We learned so much about the history of Xi’an and Rosa’s knowledge and passion was exceptional. The history of the terracotta warriors was fascinating and we loved learning about how they were found and the different dynasties and emperors. When you book this tour, you not only benefit from expert knowledge but also skip the queue which is a huge time saver. We loved our authentic local lunch, Rosa was so considerate of our dietary preferences and ordered several different local dishes for us to enjoy. They were unreal (some of the nicest dishes we’ve enjoyed in China so far)! The driver was also very professional and friendly and the car is very comfortable. The communication between Rosa and the driver was excellent as we never had to wait to be picked up. The whole day was planned seamlessly and I would highly recommend this tour if you want an amazing experience of Xi’an. Thanks so much Rosa and Mr Tom(?).

    Fantastic Tour in Xi'an
Amber was our tour guide with Catherine Lu Tours in Xi'an. She was an amazing guide knowing a lot about history and the region, and we enjoyed every minute with her. In addition to the Terracotta Warrior museum, which was a must, she also took us to another Han Dynasty tomb terracotta figurine museum, which is less known but equally outstanding. In addition our tour of the Muslim Street and other food markets were equally enjoyable. We also visited Xi'an's walls, where we rented bikes and explored the views of the city. Amber, who is a local, took us rather to local than tourist restaurants, which we appreciated a lot. Overall a fantastic experience. We strongly recommend the guide Amber and Catherine Lu Tours to visit Xi'an. You get a genuine experience and learn a lot!

Best way to enjoy a wonderful day.
Sandy is the best. we arrived on the golden week and Sandy suggested we start at 7 instead of 8:30 am. Spot on… We got a great place walking pit 1 before a stream of people flooded in. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Take this tour if you come.

Great private City tour in Xi'an! Don't miss it
I had a very enjoyable time in Xi'an thanks to my guide, Cindy (aka. Sunday)! Even though it rained most of the day, we were still able to visit all places we planned and enjoy the city. Cindy is a very nice gal and an excellent guide. Everthing you read in previous reviews about Sunday is true. Easy to talk to and always ready to share her thoughts and insights. The food she recommended was also very good and she even helped me find some souvenirs to bring back home. Totally recommended!

    A Fun, Informative Time!
I had a great time on this tour! This was my first time solo traveling and I was nervous about making it to the important sights and learning a lot without getting charged exorbitant prices. (There didn't seem to be any group tours available on my dates.) I contacted Catherine Lu tours, and was given a very fair price for a private guide and driver for the Terracotta Warriors and the other two sights I wanted to see (Big Goose Pagoda and City Walls). I had contacted a few other companies and their prices were twice as high! My guide was Cindy, who was excellent. She met me at my hotel and gave me a thorough history lesson on the drive. She uses drawings as well to make concepts clearer, which I really appreciate. It's clear that she really knows her Chinese history! I didn't even really have any questions because the explanations were so good. She's been to the museum so many times that she also knows the best routes to not get stuck in line and helped me get to the front / good spots to view the attractions (as you can tell from my photos). Cindy went out of her way to be helpful, including helping me bargain for souvenirs and picking a less touristy lunch spot. I appreciated her friendly and professional approach, always trying to make sure you get the most out of your tour without any distractions. She also gave me helpful advice for the rest of my trip. I felt very well taken care of and I highly recommend her service!

    Amazing tour with Amber
Amber was an amazing guide. The 5 stars are for her specifically, not Catherine Lu tours. Amber speaks excellent English, she explained the sights in detail and provided a lot of background information. Lunch was included, so Amber took us to a local restaurant, explained the dishes and ordered for us and ate with us. Very pleasant! Amber is super nice and fun.

    Memories that will last forever
The whole trip was informative and engaging. Cindy was able to give us the authentic experience of the city and its past history. She'd also go above and beyond by giving us many different locations to visit in the spare time too. Massive thank you to Cindy to be out guide and Catherine Lu tour to organise such an unforgettable tour experience.

    Great Day....
Cindy planned a terrific day for us! At her suggestion we departed downtown Xi'an early for the Terracotta Warriors and this was very beneficial as it tends to get more crowded as the morning progresses. She was informative about the history and navigated the site efficiently giving us time to ask questions and to do a little shopping prior to leaving. We also visited the Eight Immortals and the Pagoda and along the way were taken to a wonderful Noodle Bar for lunch. On our return Cindy showed us where we could enter the Great Wall and rent bikes for the following day and before departing she suggested a few restaurants for dining during our stay. I would recommend her services with great confidence.

Awesome 2day trip thanks to Catherine Lu Tours!
I spend roughly two days in Xi'an under guidance of Cindy (or Ping), one of Chattering Lu's awesome guides, and it was awesome! My visit to Xi'an was pretty much a dream come true. The first day, Cindy, my guide, picked me up at my hotel at 8 O'clock in the morning, like we established the day before. She and the driver first drove me to the Terracotta Warriors, afterwards we went to visit the Banpo museum and the Temple of the Eight Immortals. I really, really loved it! I've been dreaming of visiting the Terracotta Warriors since I was a kid so I was really happy I got the chance to go there and watch them. Cindy was very knowledgeable and she really put a lot of effort in explaining everything to me; she had made drawings and maps to explain stuff beforehand, in the car. She made also sure I was able to get a good view, and to take some nice picture at the site, even though it was quite busy already. (note; I think you can better go on a weekday, since weekends are even busier). I got all the time I wanted to look at the warriors and didn't feel pressured at all to go on. I think we spend 1 hour and 15 minutes or so in the car, but the drive wasn't boring at all. Cindy would point out all kinds of interesting stuff on the way. For lunch, we had Xi'an belt noodle, which was really, really delicious! Afterwards, we went to the Banpo museum, which is an on-site museum of a prehistoric village. I thought it was really interesting too, and Cindy was, again, able to explain everything really well. I'm really happy I picked this museum, it's wonderful to see such an old village preserved. The last stop of the day was the Daoist temple. I got a lot of information about Daoist religion on the drive towards the temple, which was very interesting. The temple itself was beautiful and the atmosphere was really special; Xi'an is a very busy city, with a lot of noise from traffic everywhere, but in the temple itself it was silent. I had asked if it would be possible to also book a halfday tour the day after in the old centre of Xi'an; I wanted to visit the old monk in the muslim quarter, the city wall and the Wild Goose Pagoda. That was possible (thank you, Catherine Lu!) and Cindy took me to all these places, telling me everything about it while we were going. We took the metro to the Goose Pagoda and after that walked to the Mosk and Muslim Quarter. There we noticed it was 12h already and in theory that would be when my tour ended, but Cindy was so kind as to take me for lunch and still take me to the City Wall afterwards, which was really very kind of her! The mosk is absolutely wonderful too, I can really recommend everyone to go and visit it. It's a beautiful mix of Arabic and Chinese architecture. I am very interested in history in general and I'm really happy I booked a guide of Catherine Lu for 2 days; that way I got to see al the historical highlight and I got all the information about them that I wanted to know. Most of the historical places in China barely have any information boards, so without guide you're pretty lost if you want to know more than the name of the building. And on top of the awesome tours, I also got some nice places to eat lunch at! For my last day in Xi'an, Cindy suggested some other things I could do, like walking to the South Gate of the City Wall or going to the museum. She even send me the complete route to get there, which was really kind. She also told me of some nice places to eat. I was very grateful for this recommendations! I really had a great time in Xi'an and I dare to say it's because of Cindy and because of Catherine Lu Tours!

Amazing day at the warriors - one to tick off the bucket list
We booked out tour through Maggie at China highlights, right from the start she was so accomodating answering all my questions and changing things around to suit us. We were picked up by our guide Susan and our driver in a spacious air conditioned car. Susan was very knowledgeable and told us history facts on the journey out to the Warriors. Susan timed our tour so by the time we were In pit 1 we had the place pretty much to ourselves, the warriors are a must see they are absolutely breathtaking and the history is so amazing. We were extremely grateful to Susan and our lovely driver who made sure we had water and the air con was cold. This trip was one to tick off the bucket list for sure - no words can really describe how special this day was and it was down to the lovely tour guide Susan

What a treat! So much better than we had hoped. Our guide, SunPing, picked us up and promptly at our hostel and drove us to the wonderful market to purchase all of the freshest foods. She was very accommodating to our wishes in the food choices.. We visited a local supermarket to see the contrasts. We then went to the home of the local family where we met our hostess who had done some of the preparation already. The lesson in making dumplings began. Sun ping is wonderful! She is a very good teacher full of energy and encouragement. Her English is excellent and she is a natural teacher. Not only did we get a lesson in food preparation we also got a great lesson in Chinese culture and history and customs around food. The meal was so good and full of variety. I can not recommend it highly enough.

My son and I enjoyed a fabulous cooking class, with our amazing guide, Sunday, and a local mother-daughter pair. We started with a shopping trip to the local markets, then made three dishes, plus a huge pile of dumplings! We loved the chance to visit in a local home, and of course, the food was phenomenal. It felt like a visit with friends, not a "tour." This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

When we returned from China (Beijing and Xi'an) and our friends asked us what the highlight of our trip was, we told them the four-to-five hours we spent with the local family learning to make dumplings, cooking a few traditional dishes, sharing a (large) meal, and discussing life in China. This was by far the most interesting and memorable portion of our nine days in China and we highly recommend you ask for Cindy to take you on this tour and introduce you to one of the local families she knows in Xi'an.

Cindy made both our family and the host family feel at ease and in no time we were sharing food, drinks, and conversation as if we were old friends. Not only did we get a hands-on lesson from the family in making traditional Chinese dumplings but we were able to talk to them -- via Cindy and the family's daughter who spoke English -- about their life in China. We could have stayed at their apartment all evening but eventually left with full stomachs and happy hearts.

The portion of the tour prior to our time with the family was spent at a local market where Cindy provided great insight into the local culinary tradition and what each of the products in the market were used for. In all, it was an exceptional tour, for both the wonderful food and the great insights into local Chinese culture. Ensure you ask for Cindy to take you on this tour.
