- 1You will arrive at Terracotta Warriors Museum. Your tour guide will take you through every important figures, horses or weapons. By examining the terracotta figures discovered here, you can imagine how Qin soldiers looked like 2000 years ago. From the horse cart and weapons displayed, you will have an idea how these soldiers used to fight. If you look closely enough, you will discover that each figure has different facial expressions, which is very astonishing considering how many figures are there. Then, you will know how great this work must be and why the Terracotta Warriors Museum is regarded as the eighth wonder in the world.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- zapyoo0 contributionsPerfect way to tackle Terracotta Warriors and Emperor Jingde’s tombWhat a spectacular day! The two main destinations are MUST see sights for any visit to Xi’an. We were blown away. Combining them into a one day tour worked fabulously and we did not feel rushed. Our guide Cathy Kong expertly navigated us through the attractions overcoming very long lines at the Terracotta Warriors museum. Her English was awesome - she majored in it at university. She was extremely helpful and had great energy. She helped us with our Chinese and recommended a show Legend of the Camel Bell and helped arrange tickets. Highly recommend her as a guide to ask for.Written October 18, 2024
- LawrenceL6440 contributionsVegetarian food tourI booked this tour through Viator and on that day I was the only person on the tour, so I had a delightful 3 odd hours with Michael. We walked around town and also caught a couple of tuktuks. Michael was a great host and attuned to my preferences. I also enjoyed his stories about his youth growing up in a rural area. We had many dishes, snacks and more substantial ones as well. The traditionally vegetarian dishes like the liang pi cold noodles and the traditional non-meat version of the Xian "hamburger"(rou jia mo) were a revelation. Michael shared the food with me and I found that a nice touch, more like eating with a friend. I've been on other food tours where the guide doesn't eat(for good reason, if they're running lots of food tours) and it always seems a bit awkward. We were very full by the end of the tour so come with an empty stomach. I would certainly recommend this tour for vegetarians and those like myself who prefer a plant rich diet.Written August 26, 2024
- MN88880 contributionsA fantastic private and bespoke day tour of XianWe had a fantastic private day tour with our family of 5 (3 teenagers) and Michael with the driver Mr Wong. The tour consisted of Xian City Wall, Muslim Quarter and the Terracota Warriors , with lunch at an authentic restaurant trying the famous Biang Biang noodles. Everything was bespoke to our needs as our son has severe autism, ADHD, and all 3 kids with nut allergy. Michael made sure all the scheduling was as perfect as we could imagine it . The tour was made as comfortable as it could in the heat of summer at 35 degrees ! We even cycled a.section of the Xian wall to the kids delight. We would highly recommend Lily's tour with Michael ! Thanks for a perfect day.Written August 24, 2024
- Tan P0 contributionsMemorable two days private Heritage Tour with Lily’s Private Tours!!We book a two days Heritage Private Tour from 12-13 June 2024 with Lily’s Travel. Communications with Lily was pleasant via WeChat the moment we arrived at Xi’an the day before the tour. Our guide for the two days tour was Michael Chang. Michael is well-versed in the history of Xi’an and shared with us many interesting facts of the places we visited, as well as the history of the various dynasties that made Xi’an their capital. The temperature of our two days tour were at 40 over degrees but Michael was able to cover all the places of interests and plan the travel so that we were able to be well rested in between and not be affected too much due to the heat. Michael also went over and above by adding on the itinerary such as letting us experience the morning market of the local people along our way to view the City Walls…. and bringing us to the Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City on the 2nd day of our tour. Overall, we are very delighted with Michael as our guide, as well as being thankful to the great driving skills of Mr. Ma, our driver for keeping us safe during the course of our two days tour. They made our trip to Xi’an a really memorable and happy travel. Highly recommend booking Lily’s Private Travel for their high level of service!Written June 25, 2024
- koushikm9190 contributionsXi’an with MichaelI have never been so keen to write a review after my travels as I am today to say a little something about Michael, my tour guide in whom I have discovered a brother and a friend! Michael is exceptionally knowledgeable about Chinese history, and his impeccable narratives on the rich past of Xi’an will create a sense of awe and wonder in you as you navigate the ancient capital of China with him. Michael is kind, patient and sensitive to your needs and preferences as a tourist. He will bring you to the best places to eat, shop and walk around and soak into the vibrant cultural scene of the city! I highly recommend Lily Tours and Michael to you for an unforgettable experience in Xi’an!Written June 18, 2024
- 977justinc0 contributionsOutstanding food tour experienceLily arranged a fantastic food tour for us with Michael. He was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and great with our children. The food was outstanding and there was so much! I would do this tour every day if I could. Though I’d probably need a whole tuktuk to myself after a while!!Written May 8, 2024
- Wanderer405873863280 contributionsGreat Experience in XiAnWe had Cathy as our tour guide for 2 days in Xi’An. She was really patient with telling us stories on ancient Chinese history and how Xi’an was an important capital city for many dynasties. She also recommended us some really good local cuisines over the 2 days. We had a really good time overall!Written April 11, 2024
- gohkengee0 contributionsToo much too offer, too slow to absorbOverall, China has too much too offer and we just can't absorb so much with such little time. Depends on individual, Lily Private Tours is slightly cheaper and worth every cent of the tour. A bit different from the other tours, the tour guide Jack (English speaking tour guide) guided us every second and explain every inch of the place we go (normally tour guide will introductory explain and you are ask to roam around). Apart from over-crowded and over-whelming knowledge input and the city jam, it was a good healthy tour, For the agency, believes the owners very attentive and ensure all your target are fulfils. We only miss our Panda tour (due to gov sudden closure) and the day tour was a bit abrupt, apart from that, the tour was greatWritten April 10, 2024
- Theoweo0 contributionsDay in Xi'anI had an excellent day with Jackie on this amazing tour. He was very informative and able to speak to with ease as there was a driver. Jackie was very knowledgeable about the sites visited, and also about life in Xi'an . The Hangyaling museum was very interesting and very evocative and not at all busy. In contrast, the visit to the terracotta warriors was very crowded, but Jackie was extremely helpful in helping me negotiate the crowds and deal with tickets, gates etc. The lunch and cave house were also both enjoyable. Thank you Jackie for an excellent day!Written February 21, 2024
- PimC500 contributionsRide the Tuktuk and taste Xi’an foodThis is my second food tour in Xi’an and Buren, our tour guide took me to many places and tasted many dishes. All is good. It’s one of the best way to try the Xi’n tastes on Tuktuk.Written November 18, 2023

Michael was very friendly and elaborated and clearly explain the History regarding the city of Xi'an. He gave us detailled information and interresting background stories. He was comfortably able to answer all our questions regarding the rich History of China. I would recommend this tour in order to have the background History behind the city of Xi'an !Written November 10, 2023
- 84elied0 contributionsExcellent experience, highly recommend!Michael is a walking encyclopaedia. Throughout the tour, he did not miss a beat to provide us with the most precious details behind every artefact, site or monument. The rich knowledge of history as well as the convenient transportation made this tour one that I can recommend to anyone visiting Xi’an.Written November 9, 2023
- Silvia0120 contributionsExtremely fascinating tourExtremely fascinating and well organized tour. The explanations of our guide Michael were very interesting, he speaks very good English and is familiar with thousends of years of Chinese history. He's also a very nice person. The Terracotta Army is one of the most impressive things you can ever see and experience, but without Michael's explanations the experience would not have been half as deep. The museum is also worth seeing (and one of the few sightseeing spots in China where you don't have to fight your way through crowds). And the lunch with the freshly prepared noodles tasted good, too. We can only recommend this tour.Written November 1, 2023
- Nolajuli0 contributionsExcellent, fun, efficient, food tour. Would definitely do it again.I did a wonderful evening food tour with Michel Chang. I highly recommend doing this and I would definitely do it again. We tried so many delicious dishes and Michael did an excellent job of explaining the food and the history and answered lots of questions I had about everything!! We went to places that I would not have known to go, or been able to efficiently go all around town, and had dishes I would not have known to try!!! Thank you Michael and thank you Lilys toursWritten November 1, 2023
- 106hilaryz0 contributionsAmazing day with an excellent guide and I unique experienceMichael was AMAZING! We started with the Hanyangling museum- a perfect opening for understanding the time period of the terra-cotta warriors. Frankly, I found them much more interesting (though not as awe-inspiringly amazing) than the warriors. There, you see everything in the tomb. Also, there was hardly anyone there, so we could easily take our time. Michael is a great storyteller and gave rich information on life at that time period. We went on to have a marvelous lunch. I have celiac disease and was amazed that Michael took such great care to find a place where I could eat gluten free food! I almost cried with happiness to be able to try the famous food from Xi’an! Something I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. He even took the time after the tour to help me find more food I could eat. From there we went to the warriors, which are remarkable on their own, but once again Michael brought things to life. Stopping by a yangdong afterwards gave an interesting view into a unique and ancient lifestyle. Since leaving Xi’an I have passed several other yangdong and it was cool to have a sense of what they’re like inside. I highly recommend this tour, and Michael in particular for his care, his storytelling, his knowledge and his overall great company! His English is excellent- certainly one of the best guides I’ve had in China. Thank you Michael for the special day!Written October 24, 2023

Michael was an amazing tour guide, 100% recommend, - he is professional, knowledgeable, kind and truly cares about his clients. I didn’t book this tour on time but he still managed to add me to a small private tour. If I had gone without Michael, I would have no idea where, when to go but also would never had learned the vast and interesting knowledge he gave. There was never a question he wasn’t able to answe, and he was always very caring. Michael made my Xian experience unforgettable, I feel very lucky to have been able to be toured by him as he went above and beyond true customer service. Highly recommended - you can’t get better than this.

We had an excellent private tour to see the Terracotta warriors, arranged by Lily and led by guide Michael. Michael was very knowledgeable about historical topics and enthusiastically shared information with us. He and driver Mr. Wang both worked hard to optimize our time and were very flexible to our requests. Upon their suggestion, we added a stop at the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi, which was worthwhile and also interesting. We were so pleased that we added an extra day of private city tour with Michael, which was also wonderful. He again shared lots of insights and was flexible to our interests, and took us to spots and eateries we would not have found. Highly recommend Lily’s tours and guide Michael!

I went on this tour with two friends in March. Michael took us to the terra cotta warriors and then around the main part of the city inside the city wall. We were all extremely impressed with his knowledge of all things Xi'an and we had a really great day. Highly recommend eating Biang Biang noodles nearby the warriors! Lily's company was extremely accommodating and they were always on time (we also had airport and train station transfers). Highly recommend!

We booked 3 days of tour with Lily - one day each in Beijing, Xian and Luoyang. Lily is very responsive and tailored the tour to our exact requirements.
Jenny, our guide in Beijing arrived early and was waiting patiently in the lobby for us to commence our tour for the day. It was refreshing to see that she was just as excited as us when we got to the Great Wall and it was covered in snow. Jenny is very accommodating and flexible about how long we wanted to spend at each attraction. To top it off, she is a very careful driver as well, and we felt very comfortable being driven around by her.
In Xian we go Cathy and could not have been more happy. Cathy is very informative and knew a lot about the history of Xian. She made our visit to the Terracotta Warriors so much more interesting with her stories. Also, nothing was too difficult for Cathy - she's ever so helpful and interested in making our tour as enjoyable as possible for us. Thanks Cathy for a wonderful day. Next stop Luoyang....

For our recent trip to Xian I had arranged a one day tour with Lily's tours plus airport pick up and drop off. Everything from start to finish went very smoothly and helped make our trip to this amazing city a memorable one. Lily was great to deal with answering messages very quickly and giving us much needed advice. In saying this she was very flexible with arrangements and at no stage tried to persuade us into seeing things we didn't want to see. Our guide for the day was the wonderful Cathy. She did an amazing job in impeccable English explaining the history of this city. Our main site to explore was the Terracotta Warriors but with Cathy's help were also able to visit the Banpo Museum and the Big Goose Pagoda in the same day. Even after this day Cathy was willing to sit down with us at our hotel and give us advice on what to do for the second day of our stay (also writing all of this down in Chinese). I cannot thank Cathy (and Lily) enough for all they did to make this a break we will never forget.

Hi Lily and Jackie, greatest appreciation and thank for your highly support on our needs, really satisfied us.
Xian tour with Jackie as our local guide was memorable for his high spirit and full energy, attentive, Communicative, and well knowledge. We like him much.
Terracota who really amazed us all not only the warrior statues but also the widespace location were not made us tired since he is so communicative and full attention to our needs.
Lunch time with local big "bian bian" noddle was also tasty and delicious, even they dont provide water or tea, only soft drink or soup.
Giant big goose pagoda was also interesting to visit to understand the history of wellknown journey-to-the-west monk.
Drum tower and bell tower really exhausted for my family with kids, but he still encourage me to climb the ladder to the 2nd floor of each tower. I shoot many nice panorama photos there.
Drop on muslim tower, behind of drum tower was very crowded street to encomplete our nice holiday in Xian.
Overall, again i do Appreciate and thank you to your both service that was excellent and i will recommend you to my colleagues and in my social media account as well.

Pros: 100+
Cons: none
We had the complete honor and privilege of having Wendy as our tour guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable about Xi'an and was able to explain the history and details of all the places we went (Terra Cotta Army, Yang Gui Fei's hotspring/Huaqing Palace, City Wall, among others). Most importantly she knew when to go to certain attractions to minimize the wait times and took us to the best restaurants. We felt like we had a very intimate local tour.
We were traveling with our young 2.5 year old son and she made our trip SO much easier and enjoyable (she even carried him for part of the trip so that my husband and I could catch a break). If you're a parent, you know that toddlers can be extremely energetic.
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the Terracotta Army, so much history in one place. We went right when it opened at 8:30am (as Wendy suggested) because it gets super packed later on during the day. When we left around 10:30, the lines were super long outside.
Also, one of the constraints we had was my husband wanted to take random and obscure photographs of unique architectural places, Wendy was very accommodating and customized our itinerary to include all the places my husband wanted to see.
We will definitely be back in Xi'an. We only stayed for 3 days in Xi'an this past trip and felt like it wasn't enough, there's a lot more to see. We're definitely going to request for Wendy to be our tour guide when we come back.

this is a must do tour in mainland China, we flew from Hong Kong to X'ian, about a 3 hour flight on Dragon Air which was very comfortable and we had time to enjoy a movie onboard. We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel on Renmin Square, again highly recommended.
Michael our guide for the day met us there with a driver so we had total flexibility for the tour, starting with the awesome Terracotta army and then the amazing fortified walls of old X'ian via a local noodle restaurant where we savoured the yard long noodles.
Michael's knowledge of the history and legends of the area was encyclopedic and his English faultless, so we can thoroughly recommend him to anyone visiting the area.

This one day tour was an amazing day. Our tour guide was Cathy and she was nice & knowledgeable.
My friend and I only manage to have 1 day tour after our business trip. But with the Cathy, we feel like she is our friend more than a tour guide.
Cathy not only share the info and history about Xian but also bring us to have lunch in a local and traditional China restaurant away from the tourist places, so very reasonable price and great food.
Even after the tour, she did share a lot info for what we can do in Xian and where to eat in Xian.
This tour company is highly recommended and Cathy spoke fluent English.
We will definitely recommend Lily's Private Tour to our friends and will back again to Xian with our family members.

We felt very lucky because while we only contacted Lily 2 days before we were arriving in Xi'an, she was quickly able to arrange a great tour for us with Wendy and a driver. They were wonderful! Wendy is extremely knowledgeable about both historical and current day Xi'an, was very flexible to accommodate our interests and to adjust the standard itinerary as we had already done one of the activities, and she has great English and was very easy to understand.
She took us to the Terracotta Warriors, a delicious lunch spot where they made gigantic noodles, a great smaller museum (sorry, can't recall name at the moment) and gave us an introduction to the fascinating, bustling Muslim market. My whole family (teens and parents) thoroughly enjoyed her! I would definitely recommend, Wendy, the Terracotta Warriors tour and Lily!

In March 2018, Lily charged us 1,678 RMB ($135/ea) for a private one-day tour of Xian for 2 persons, including the Terracotta Warriors. Lunch and tips not included. Our guide's lunch choice was authentic, inexpensive, and wonderful--a treat!
Michael is a terrific guide, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
