Perfect way to tackle Terracotta Warriors and Emperor Jingde’s tomb
What a spectacular day! The two main destinations are MUST see sights for any visit to Xi’an. We were blown away. Combining them into a one day tour worked fabulously and we did not feel rushed. Our guide Cathy Kong expertly navigated us through the attractions overcoming very long lines at the Terracotta Warriors museum. Her English was awesome - she majored in it at university. She was extremely helpful and had great energy. She helped us with our Chinese and recommended a show Legend of the Camel Bell and helped arrange tickets. Highly recommend her as a guide to ask for.

          Vegetarian food tour
I booked this tour through Viator and on that day I was the only person on the tour, so I had a delightful 3 odd hours with Michael. We walked around town and also caught a couple of tuktuks. Michael was a great host and attuned to my preferences. I also enjoyed his stories about his youth growing up in a rural area. We had many dishes, snacks and more substantial ones as well. The traditionally vegetarian dishes like the liang pi cold noodles and the traditional non-meat version of the Xian "hamburger"(rou jia mo) were a revelation. Michael shared the food with me and I found that a nice touch, more like eating with a friend. I've been on other food tours where the guide doesn't eat(for good reason, if they're running lots of food tours) and it always seems a bit awkward. We were very full by the end of the tour so come with an empty stomach. I would certainly recommend this tour for vegetarians and those like myself who prefer a plant rich diet.

A fantastic private and bespoke day tour of Xian
We had a fantastic private day tour with our family of 5 (3 teenagers) and Michael with the driver Mr Wong. The tour consisted of Xian City Wall, Muslim Quarter and the Terracota Warriors , with lunch at an authentic restaurant trying the famous Biang Biang noodles. Everything was bespoke to our needs as our son has severe autism, ADHD, and all 3 kids with nut allergy. Michael made sure all the scheduling was as perfect as we could imagine it . The tour was made as comfortable as it could in the heat of summer at 35 degrees ! We even cycled a.section of the Xian wall to the kids delight. We would highly recommend Lily's tour with Michael ! Thanks for a perfect day.

          Excellent guide and private tour
We had an excellent private tour to see the Terracotta warriors, arranged by Lily and led by guide Michael. Michael was very knowledgeable about historical topics and enthusiastically shared information with us. He and driver Mr. Wang both worked hard to optimize our time and were very flexible to our requests. Upon their suggestion, we added a stop at the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi, which was worthwhile and also interesting. We were so pleased that we added an extra day of private city tour with Michael, which was also wonderful. He again shared lots of insights and was flexible to our interests, and took us to spots and eateries we would not have found. Highly recommend Lily’s tours and guide Michael!

          Xi’an with Michael
I have never been so keen to write a review after my travels as I am today to say a little something about Michael, my tour guide in whom I have discovered a brother and a friend! Michael is exceptionally knowledgeable about Chinese history, and his impeccable narratives on the rich past of Xi’an will create a sense of awe and wonder in you as you navigate the ancient capital of China with him. Michael is kind, patient and sensitive to your needs and preferences as a tourist. He will bring you to the best places to eat, shop and walk around and soak into the vibrant cultural scene of the city! I highly recommend Lily Tours and Michael to you for an unforgettable experience in Xi’an!

          Outstanding food tour experience
Lily arranged a fantastic food tour for us with Michael. He was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and great with our children. The food was outstanding and there was so much! I would do this tour every day if I could. Though I’d probably need a whole tuktuk to myself after a while!!

          Definitely best tour in town
Cathy did a spectacular job at showing us around the Terracotta army and Xi'An. Very knowledgeable, engaging and helpful - her style is excellent for getting a real understanding of the area, history, people and culture.

Too much too offer, too slow to absorb
Overall, China has too much too offer and we just can't absorb so much with such little time. Depends on individual, Lily Private Tours is slightly cheaper and worth every cent of the tour. A bit different from the other tours, the tour guide Jack (English speaking tour guide) guided us every second and explain every inch of the place we go (normally tour guide will introductory explain and you are ask to roam around). Apart from over-crowded and over-whelming knowledge input and the city jam, it was a good healthy tour, For the agency, believes the owners very attentive and ensure all your target are fulfils. We only miss our Panda tour (due to gov sudden closure) and the day tour was a bit abrupt, apart from that, the tour was great

          Day in Xi'an
I had an excellent day with Jackie on this amazing tour. He was very informative and able to speak to with ease as there was a driver. Jackie was very knowledgeable about the sites visited, and also about life in Xi'an . The Hangyaling museum was very interesting and very evocative and not at all busy. In contrast, the visit to the terracotta warriors was very crowded, but Jackie was extremely helpful in helping me negotiate the crowds and deal with tickets, gates etc. The lunch and cave house were also both enjoyable. Thank you Jackie for an excellent day!

Terracotta Army site & museum, Ancient City Walls, Great Wild Goose Pagoda, Muslim Quarter and shopping for a camera
Lily is an extraordinary guide, her deep knowledge of Xian and surroundings, their history and their landmarks, her excellent English and friendly personality made the tour very enjoyable ... in addition Lily went way beyond her duty to help me solve problems unrelated to her tour ... I had broken my main camera in Taipei and wanted find a possible replacement ... Lily found a well stocked photography store (not easy in a country where most people think cell phones are cameras) which carried the brand I wanted and also shipped a couple of museum guide books back to me in Canada (which involved packaging the books and handling the post office/customs forms) ... this was a BIG contribution to make my visit to Xian a very special trip that I will always remember ... Lily also has a very good driver with a clean and modern vehicle ... Josef Hochleitner, Toronto

Ride the Tuktuk and taste Xi’an food
This is my second food tour in Xi’an and Buren, our tour guide took me to many places and tasted many dishes. All is good. It’s one of the best way to try the Xi’n tastes on Tuktuk.

          Extremely fascinating tour
Extremely fascinating and well organized tour. The explanations of our guide Michael were very interesting, he speaks very good English and is familiar with thousends of years of Chinese history. He's also a very nice person. The Terracotta Army is one of the most impressive things you can ever see and experience, but without Michael's explanations the experience would not have been half as deep. The museum is also worth seeing (and one of the few sightseeing spots in China where you don't have to fight your way through crowds). And the lunch with the freshly prepared noodles tasted good, too. We can only recommend this tour.

Excellent, fun, efficient, food tour. Would definitely do it again.
I did a wonderful evening food tour with Michel Chang. I highly recommend doing this and I would definitely do it again. We tried so many delicious dishes and Michael did an excellent job of explaining the food and the history and answered lots of questions I had about everything!! We went to places that I would not have known to go, or been able to efficiently go all around town, and had dishes I would not have known to try!!! Thank you Michael and thank you Lilys tours

Amazing day with an excellent guide and I unique experience
Michael was AMAZING! We started with the Hanyangling museum- a perfect opening for understanding the time period of the terra-cotta warriors. Frankly, I found them much more interesting (though not as awe-inspiringly amazing) than the warriors. There, you see everything in the tomb. Also, there was hardly anyone there, so we could easily take our time. Michael is a great storyteller and gave rich information on life at that time period. We went on to have a marvelous lunch. I have celiac disease and was amazed that Michael took such great care to find a place where I could eat gluten free food! I almost cried with happiness to be able to try the famous food from Xi’an! Something I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. He even took the time after the tour to help me find more food I could eat. From there we went to the warriors, which are remarkable on their own, but once again Michael brought things to life. Stopping by a yangdong afterwards gave an interesting view into a unique and ancient lifestyle. Since leaving Xi’an I have passed several other yangdong and it was cool to have a sense of what they’re like inside. I highly recommend this tour, and Michael in particular for his care, his storytelling, his knowledge and his overall great company! His English is excellent- certainly one of the best guides I’ve had in China. Thank you Michael for the special day!

          A trip to Mt. Huashan
I went hiking to Mt.Huashan. I really loved it, the views are spectacular. It is really a once in a lifetime experience. I went there with tour guide Michael Chang from Xi’an. He really made the experience a lot better. He is a great tour guide. I would really recommend booking with him.

We had Cathy as our tour guide for 2 days in Xi’An. She was really patient with telling us stories on ancient Chinese history and how Xi’an was an important capital city for many dynasties. She also recommended us some really good local cuisines over the 2 days. We had a really good time overall!

Michael is a walking encyclopaedia. Throughout the tour, he did not miss a beat to provide us with the most precious details behind every artefact, site or monument. The rich knowledge of history as well as the convenient transportation made this tour one that I can recommend to anyone visiting Xi’an.

Michael was very friendly and elaborated and clearly explain the History regarding the city of Xi'an.

He was comfortably able to answer all our questions regarding the rich History of China.

Our guide Jackie brought the history of Xi'an to life. He gave a very informative tour of the Terracotta Soliders and spent time explaining the time line of historical events- a lot to take in! He took us to a local resturant and carefully helped with the food selection - which was great - but big portions! Our time was well spent on the tour with plenty of time for photos and questions. The second day was spent in within and on the city walls , exploring the Musilim quarter and Big Goose Pagoda .Yes you could do this yourself but would miss out on the information well explained by Jackie.
We were pleased with the tour , and grateful that the time was well judged and fortunate that our holiday was at a quieter period so not as many tourists so we were able to to get close to the sights.
Great to have the personal touch, Jackie spoke good English, so communication was easy. Thank you

My family and I visited China in the first week of June, 2018. Our stay in Xi'an was thoroughly enjoyable and memorable. Xi'an is an amazing place to visit, rich in history and tradition. A very special mention has to be made of our tour guide Michael Chang. Michael is such an enthusiastic, friendly and ever-smiling person who spoke excellent English. We were impressed by his knowledge and patience in answering all our questions. Michael has a great sense of humor and made ours' such a fun visit. He is such a warm and affectionate guy that we became good friends in a very short time! It was pretty hot and every now and then he would dash off and return with bottles of water, even without our asking! on Day2 when the kids wanted to cycle on the city wall early in the morning he readily obliged and was there on the dot and happily escorted them. His concern that we board our flight safely (as there was heavy rain at the tail end of our trip) was truly touching. To anyone planning a trip to Xi'an I would hands down recommend that you arrange for Michael to be your guide. His will definitely make your visit memorable! I must commend Lily for running a most efficient guide service. We had the pleasure of meeting Lily in person and she came across as a very warm and charming lady. At every place we visited, our pick up and drop off were on time. All our guides, Luis (in Beijing), Michael (in Xi'an) and Eric (in Zhangjiajie) were simply excellent. I would certainly recommend Lily's tour services to all my friends and anyone reading this review! Thanks a million Lily!

We had booked the Two Day Xian Heritage Tour with Lily's Tours. Our tour booking and communications with Ms. Lily Sun via email were all very professionally and promptly handled.

We had booked airport transfers as well and our driver Mr. Wong was waiting outside the airport to receive us and he made us very comfortable. Mr. Wong was our driver for our entire two days in Xian and he was an exemplary driver and very friendly and helpful to us.

We met our guide Michael on the morning of our tour and we had a wonderful two day experience with him. He not only explained the sights and the history of the places we were visiting but he also gave us a lot of insight into the cultural and social lives of the people of the country. He was warm and friendly and spoke excellent English. He went out of his way to make sure that our food preferences were accommodated even after the tour ended and we were on our own.

It was an overall wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to recommend the Tour, the guide and our driver to anyone travelling to Xian.

Xi'an is an excellent place to visit to see the China's past. President Xi once said, "If you want to see past of China, visit Xi'an; if you want to see China's today visit Beijing; and if you want to see future of China visit Shanghai." I am truly impressed by the city and its people. I did not hire services except a tour guide at the Tetra Cotta Soldiers site. It takes about 45 minutes from city to site, so taxi will cost around 200 yuan. I stayed in the Holiday Inn very close to Wild Goose Pagoda and everything was close.

Visited Xi'an early June 2018. We spent couple of days strolling around the city by ourselves, but decided have a local guide for touring around the sights. I found Lily through rave reviews she and the team had on TripAdvisor. We had the two day tour with lunches included, and saw Terracotta Warriors, Drum and Bell Towers, Muslim Quarters, City Wall, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tomb of Emperor Jingdi, Culture Street, etc. We even had the opportunity meet Mr Young, who discovered the Terracotta Warriors in the seventies. Weather during our visit was hot (close to 40C/100F), so itinerary & schedule was tweaked on the fly to accommodate for the heat wave.

Overall we were extremely satisfied with the tour. Lily provided us lot of information regarding the background and history of the sights. Lunches were excellent and everything worked like charm. Xi'an is not exactly easy city to get around or all the sights that easy to reach unless your Chinese is strong, so using tour guide is something you should really consider. Having done the two day tour with Lily, I would highly recommend it. And go for the lunch; you probably end up eating in places you otherwise would not have discovered.... Highly Recommended!

I recently returned from a 9 day trip to China with my family (including 3 teenagers). We spent 2 full days in Xi'an with the tour guide Harvey. He was excellent.

I had arranged transfer from the train station on the evening we arrived in Xi'an. Lily's driver was exactly where he was supposed to be and we arrived at our hotel seamlessly.

The next morning we met our guide Harvey. We spent the next 2 days touring the TerraCotta Warriors and the sites of Xi'an. Harvey was super-knowledgeable and was able to pass along the info to my whole family and keep my daughters interested. He quickly realized our need to see as much as possible in the short time we had and we affectionately nick-named him Hurricane Harvey as he kept us moving and filled our heads with stories, history and interesting information.

On the last morning in Xi'an the driver Lily arranged for us was at our hotel on time and got us to the airport without issue. In fact, he jumped out of the car and helped us with bags and the correct check-in area.

I highly recommend Lilly's Tours and ask for Harvey.

I went on the tour with my partner and his mother over Chinese New Year. Lily's Tours made this trip so easy. I compared with other companies and the price was very fair. I was recommended Lily's an would do the same for anyone else!

We had the best time! Our guide Michael was excellent, very knowledgeable, generous and kind. He spoke excellent English and was also funny. He know so much about every location we went to!. We learnt so much about Xi'an's history and he gave us tips on the best food to get including local noodles, and the best dumplings around. Our driver got us everywhere quickly and safely, he knew all of the best pick-up spots so we did not have to walk too far.

The team were very helpful and responsive and provided us with all of the information we needed to make the decision to go with lily's.
