About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 584mickg0 contributionsGuilin really puts on a show!As part of the excellent Classic China Tour we spent two days in Guilin with the very helpful and informative QiuyanLi as our guide for the area. QiuyanLi ('Li' for short) met us at the airport and took us to the very impressive Reed Flute Cave complex which we really enjoyed. It can, apparently, be very busy but was not at all crowded when we visited so Li was able to show us around the caves without any difficulty. From there we headed towards the city to see Elephant Trunk Hill. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded and noisy around the best viewing areas when we visited making it hard to see the best views or hear all of the commentary, despite Li's best efforts. Our hotel, the Sheraton, was in a great location close to the river and city centre and we found the buffet style breakfasts in the coffee shop were excellent though it was very crowded both mornings. Our room was OK but just a little tired and disappointing compared to some of the others on the tour. Two comfortable chairs would have been better that just one for a couple. The city is very interesting and friendly with markets and food options of all sorts though we did encounter some issues with misunderstandings over language translations but that can all be part of the travel experience in a foreign country. We discovered that one of the best (and reasonably priced) options for a local meal is, ironically, the Irish pub next to the hotel which had almost no Irish meal options but some excellent Chinese ones making it a favourite of many of the locals, including Li! The artificial waterfall which flows over the side of the Waterfall Hotel in the city at certain times in the evening is as spectacular as it is unexpected and worth the short walk. The beautiful cruise to Yangshuo on the Li River was outstanding and one of the highlights of the whole tour. Li came along and made sure we missed nothing. It was wonderful! We had been warned that the lunch provided on the cruise might be disappointing but we enjoyed it very much and found the hospitality on the boat to be excellent. Yangshuo was a very interesting and attractive little town where we had time for a short break before heading out to the countryside to walk around a small farming village which was quite interesting and showed us a very different aspect to local life. There was an optional evening cruise on the Li River in the city area. We nearly didn't bother but that would have been a huge mistake. It was breathtaking and another of the highlights of our whole trip! It is so good that we think it should be included as part of the main tour. Guilin really puts on a show! Li, again, came along to make sure that we really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks, Guilin and thanks QiuyanLi.Written November 23, 2024
- reymonda2440 contributionsRelaxing tour with scenic landscapeSam is an informative tour guide and a good singer too. She gave the group enough time to explore the point of interest we went too. The cruise in Li River was the highlight and the landscape just looks like a painting.Written November 22, 2024
- Sunshine195627179950 contributionsGreat Tour guides but appalling Head Office serviceWe took the 10 day Incredible China Tour in early November...we had an incredible time...our Tour guide Jason in Beijing took very good care of us and also giving us in depth commentaries for our trips in Beijing. He was very good...appreciate him very much. David Zhang took us on our second half of trip from Wuxi to Shanghai...he was incredible...really organized..providing us with extra bits like raincoats...snacks if we were late for lunch etc and he was hilarious ....these two guides David and Jason plus our amazing fella travellers in our group A made this trip amazing for my wife and I. Only disappointment we have really is with AVG Head Office in Australia for their terrible and slow service in responding to my enquiries and emails. They were quick to take our money but once we had paid it took them ages to respond to my emails...making it very anxious for us if we had to query and wanted quick response. AVG needs to seriously improve their service if they expect any of us to come back for other tours...very disappointed ...lucky for them to have good Tour guides like David and Jason on our trip to make up for AVG Head Office appalling service.Written November 19, 2024
- 774jamieh0 contributionsBeautiful Yangshuo and great foodWe had a fantastic time in Guilin and Yangshuo and our guide Tom Wu and our driver were great. We were met at the station, all be it with a little wait as there was a mixup with which station, so do double check! We saw all the sites in Guilin and Yangshuo and found it truly beautiful and a great rest stop on our extended 18 day trip. I asked about the local cuisine and Tom took us to a great local place for a hearty bowl of rice noodles! The next day Tom had some suggestions for tweaks to our itinerary to make it more relaxed, and surprised us with a trip to an ancient village and a wonderful restaurant. We really appreciated that! Travel China guide were happy for us to choose our own hotels, and the guide and driver were always on time and helped us with bags and everything. Overall we felt well looked after, learned lots of historical ands cultural information and appreciated having a local guide with great local knowledge. Thanks Tom!Written November 17, 2024
- paulusg_550 contributionsOutstanding views of the Li river mountains, spectacular evening show in YangshuoThe views of the mountains around the Li river were amazingly beautiful. The evening in Yanghuo was fun, especially with the addition of an evening show recommended by our guide featuring local community fishers as well as water buffaloes and cormorants :). Our guide Lily Cao was super helpful, kind, knowledgeable. A real pleasure. Thank you!Written November 8, 2024
- 674alexl6740 contributionsMagical time in Guilin and YangshuoWe loved our tour of Guilin and Yangshuo with our amazing guide Samantha. We would highly recommend the trip, with a good mix of activities, from the magical Li River Cruise to taking scooters around the countryside. Samantha really made sure we had a great time and is a real local expert.Written November 4, 2024

Very well and thoughtfully organized, including transportation and accommodation by the super fast and responsive Amy Jian. Extremely pleased with her efficiency and care. - Sightsee610888021580 contributionsGreat experienceThe tour agency does a great job helping organize tours in various places and cities in China. This river cruise was no exception. The scenery is spectacular, unlike anywhere else in the world. The boats are quite comfortable, and the upper deck is large enough to accommodate all the tourists willing to spend time outside to soak in the magnificent panorama. Lunch provided on the boat is quite decent, with an option to purchase some extra items, which I greatly enjoyed local freshwater snails. Our tour guide spoke very good English, was mostly attentive and helpful.Written October 26, 2024
- Z3028JBmichaeln0 contributionsGreat 10-day Small Group Tour!My family and I recently completed a 10-day small group tour with Travel China Guide, and the experience exceeded our expectations. From the very start, communication was smooth, with all our questions answered promptly. The tour was well organized, and the bus provided was always roomy and clean. The itinerary was packed with sights, giving great value for those wanting to see as much as possible, though we felt a few stops could have been skipped for more relaxed mornings or earlier finishes. Now, onto the standout tour guide! Samantha was an absolute joy. She was warm, personable, and made everyone feel at ease throughout our time in Guilin. Her friendly nature created a relaxed atmosphere, and she was always ready to chat and share stories about local life. Samantha was flexible and ensured that all aspects of the itinerary were well executed.Written October 22, 2024
- V4029PTkevinr0 contributionsBest way to explore GuilinOur guide, Lily Cao, was absolutely incredible. We were always well looked after and were blown away by the beauty of Guilin and Yangshuo. She had so much knowledge and was such pleasant company the whole trip - we had so much fun with her. Outside of our itinerary we asked about rock climbing and buying local tea. Within minutes Lily hooked us up with great climbing guides, a whole tea experience, etc. And in addition to our planned meals Lily brought us local fruits to try and made sure we always had what we needed. Couldn’t have asked for more. (Our driver Mr. Tree was great too!)Written October 15, 2024
- ekuzmina12340 contributionsAmazing natureWe visited Yangshuo in September 2024. It was an unforgettable experience - the show impression Liu Sanjie in the lake, the hot-air balloon, the nature! Big thanks to our tour guide Arthur Du - We have never received such good service and concern.Written October 14, 2024
- fionad1100 contributionsUtterly awesome trip down the River LiSo part of our our wonderful China trip involved a trip to Guilin for a cruise down the River Li and as I am a splelunker, the flute caves. Our awesome guide Samantha took over from the lovely Lola in Xi"an, and picked us up and took us to an absolutely incredible hotel. It was gorgeous, like drop dead gorgeous. We had a chandelier, a chaise longe, balcony, the mattresses and bedding were like clouds, bathroom incredible, and I say all that that as a person in a cast with a newly broken leg! It was like being a film star in a film set. Breakfast was amazing, especially for me as a vegan. The food was incredible. Took a tiny bit of explaining and a chat with the chef, but then once we all understood each other, there were more wonderful things to eat than you could imagine. Vegetables and tofu cooked in sumptuous ways. All for way, way less than a night than any travel lodge in the Uk. So then we got picked up in the morning and off to the boat cruise. Like I am from New Zealand. Takes a lot to impress me with scenery obviously, right? But this was astounding. And we cruised the shores with bathing water buffalo, if I had not had this cast, I would have jumped in and swum with them. Water buffalo have exceptionally beautiful nostrils. I know this as a vet. There were cruising birds of prey, eagles, cranes, huge butterflies. Enormous fish leapt in the river. I thought they were dolphins, but they were gone by the time I got my binoculars out. Local people from the villages tootled around in sadly plastic versions of traditional bamboo boats, but navigated big currents and river challenges with huge boats and only a bamboo pole, that me as a kayaker with a kevlar paddle would have really worried about. They have and will always adapt. Water people. And you would think there would be lots of people. There very few people we saw were tending water buffalo, although the water buffalo were so off doing their own thing, people fishing in traditional boats( drawing a veil over that as a vegan!) I saw horses swimming in the river, all alone, no bodily constraints, just paddling for pleasure with each other. Those amazing spectacular limestone mountains looked untouchable but our guide told us that there are climbing clubs there. I so want to join one of those clubs and climb one of those incredible spires to heaven. Back at home, Samantha told me to watch The Painted Veil, 3rd time watching it! Thank you Samantha.:-) it was mostly filmed in the River Li years ago, and it's still untouched. This is such a beautiful untouched, remote, easily accessible and accessible in a relatively eco friendly way, beautiful part of China accessible even with a broken leg!Written October 13, 2024
- robertdA3555GE0 contributionsAmazing Guilin experienceWe had an incredible time hiking through the Longsheng Rice Terraces and the karst peaks outside of Yangshuo. Our guide Arthur was the best! Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! The scenery was sublime, and Arthur's knowledge of the area, the history and the culture made our experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour!Written October 6, 2024
- 153susanac0 contributionsGuilin ReviewThe views were amazing! Guilin is one of the best spots in China. The Li River cruise was one of the highlights of the trip. I highly recommend the rice field trip in October after the national holidays to see the harvest colors in less crowded times.Written October 1, 2024
- P7066DTfrancos0 contributionsGUILIN TO YANGSHUO: A DREAM TOUR WITH MONICAWe are an Italian family. We reached Guilin and were picked up by Monica from Travel China Guide who firstly introduced us to Guilin town (we arrived the day of Mid Autumn Festival: with a joyful atmosphere and lights and singing people all around the city lakes). The following day Monica led us to a fantastic cruise along Li river and Guilin region mountains to Yangshuo. Landscapes are simply gorgeous there, and my camera was really hot when we reached Yangshuo, out final goal. In Yangshuo we caould then have a tour around countryside and visited a farmers' village. Monica booked for us a worth seeing open air night show on the history of that region, with 600 local people as actors performing on a lake as stage!! Monica was a great guide: extremely competent on each subject, precise, available, kind and very friendly. Her English is perfect, her support was great. Next time we will spend a couple of more days in Guilin/Yangshuo, as we realized many other nice spots can be discovered there.Written September 21, 2024

It was very very hot and the wait to take the lift to go up was pretty long and no A/C..but all of that goes away when you star going up! Is amazing, and so perfect! At least for me that I’m afirmó argentina and things are not that lever of perfection. So I recommend you must do it!!
