What to expect
  • Meet your private guide at your central St. Petersburg hotel, and receive a city map, bottled water, a raincoat in case of rain, and a souvenir gift. Your guide will accompany you throughout your tour. Travel to the pier on the River Neva for the high-speed hydrofoil to the Peterhof, the palace and garden complex masterminded by Peter the Great between 1714 and 1721. Board with your guide and enjoy the views of passing landmarks such as the Winter Palace as you speed across the Gulf of Finland to the waterfront palace. After around 40 minutes, dock at Peterhof pier, and skip the main entrance lines with your pre-booked ticket, enjoying priority access to what’s known as the ‘Russian Versailles.’   Stroll through the gorgeous lawns and parkland of the Lower Gardens, and see some of their celebrated fountains and water features. Marvel at the Grand Cascade, the showpiece terraced fountains that were partly designed by Peter the Great. Admire the gold-coated sculptures, including the central statue of Samson and a lion, and delight in the playing fountains, only operational between May and September. Take in the Baroque exterior of the Grand Palace, largely the work of architect Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli for Peter’s daughter, the Empress Elizabeth, in the late 18th century. Then, tour the opulent interiors, richly decorated in Baroque and Rococo style, and adorned with paintings and gilded furnishings. View the highlights as your guide tells stories of the Tsars and empresses who lived here, and then continue to Monplaisir, a waterfront palace in the gardens. Explore this villa-style residence, a favored summer retreat of Peter the Great, who often stayed and entertained here. Later, ride the hydrofoil back to the city center, where your tour concludes.

Over the years we have dealt with a number of private tour agencies and I am sure that Horosho is one of the we have ever used. Our family of four enjoyed a delightful day trip of Peterhof with Olga. She is thoroughly knowledgeable, personable and has a good sense of humor. She was sensitive to our time issues (off to the railway station immediately after our tour) and managed to teach us an amazing amount about the building (Grand Palace) in Peterhof during 5 hours. This is a delightful tour which gave us a great overview of the history of the area. Of course it wasn't easy to organize this tour due to COVID restrictions but anyway we travelled from Moscow (where we worked) to St Petersburg to see famous sights before finally coming back home to the USA. My wife, our two sons and I felt it we learned and experienced a lot! Not to mention that Olga was delightful to spend the day with, answering all of our questions, so I highly recommend the tour. Stay safe, guys! Thank you for making this tour possible!

Lovely day out to Peterhof
May 2019
We had a lovely tour guide for this trip to Peterhof. We were so happy we decided to go by hydrofoil instead of car, as there is a lot of traffic in and around St Petersburg. She picked us up at the hotel and took us to the boat. We then had a nice walk around the main fountain in Peterhof. Then we went through the palace itself. The garden and the fountain was probably the most interesting bits for us, as we had already been to the Winter palace the day before. We were so lucky with the weather this day, which made the visit even better. Our guide was super knowledgable and knew so many details about Russian history.

We were a group of 4 women of all ages. Peterhof is somewhere where you could easily spend the day without a guide if you just wanted to walk through the garden, have ice cream and enjoy a day outside. However it is nice to get information about all the fountains, the history and the art. Our guide also gave us a nice insight into life in Russia before and today, which we all appreciated. We really enjoyed our day and we were so happy with Horosho tours and our guide.

Hello there! Thank you very much for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your tour in Peterhof in a company of your guide. Being recognized as the sight of UNESCO Heritage, Peterhof is one of the gems of St Petersburg. We are always happy to give our guests a chance to stroll in royal parks lost in verdure and full of refined fountains. Feel like emperors who opened the doors of the bewitching Grand Palace. We're so happy to hear that you all had a great day, Peterhof will always be one of our favorite places! Especially if traveling there by hydrofoil on a sunny day :) Meanwhile, please take care and stay safe! HOROSHO team

The most beautiful place of the world's cultural capital
Jul 2017 • Family
As for me, this is a very unusual place in the cultural capital of the world. This is incredible beauty.
The Peterhof is famous for its Grand Cascade. The largest cascade is the most magnificent fountain structure of the Petergof ensemble and one of the most outstanding buildings in the world. The Grand Cascade is one of the largest fountains in the world.
At the foot of the Grand Cascade is the most famous sculpture - the three-meter figure of Samson, which breaks down the lion's mouth.
Another fantastic creation is the Golden Mountain cascade. The name of the Cascade Golden Mountain in Peterhof was due to the glitter of gilded steps, as well as thanks to the festive and solemn range of the whole ensemble.
The beauty of Piterhof is unlimited. These are beautiful gardens, sculptures, fountains ... and everything is washed off by the Gulf of Finland ...
About this place you can write forever. It's impossible to find out for a day ...
This is the place where you want to go back ...

Hello there! Thank you so much for your kind words! For us it is more important than anything else that people leave my tours happy and satisfied. The palace and park at Peterhof (also known as Petrodvorets) are often referred to as "the Russian Versailles". It is no less famous and even more fantastic. As you already know, it was founded in 18th century by Peter the Great. Peter saw Versailles when he traveled to France and was quite impressed. But he conceived his own fountain complex on a much grander scale. We don't know any person who would feel sorry to have visited Peterhof, our precious Russian pearl! Thank you for taking your time and writing a feedback about your visit there! Hopefully we will see you again in St. Petersburg and explore its suburbs together! Meanwhile, we wish you lots of fun on your journeys! HOROSHO team
