Private Tour: St Petersburg Walking Tour
From $54.09
Be introduced to St Petersburg’s sights by your own private guide on this 3-hour tour. Exploring by foot, see top St Petersburg attractions such as Palace Square, the Winter Palace and the Bronze Horseman statue of Peter Great, the city’s founder. Stroll along the Nevsky Prospekt and visit three must-see cathedrals, including St Isaac’s and the extravagant Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood. Tailor your itinerary to your interests, and, as you explore, hear tales of Peter the Great, the Romanovs and the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution from your guide.
What to Expect
Choose your desired start time and meet your guide at your central Petersburg hotel to start your 3-hour tour. Hop inside your private, air-conditioned vehicle, and travel into the heart of the city.
As you travel, let your guide know if there’s anything you want to see more of during your tour. Your itinerary is flexible, so your sightseeing can be tailored to suit you.

Start with a stroll around Palace Square, the stunning main square ringed by elegant imperial-era buildings, including the ornate, baroque Winter Palace. Wonder at the beauty of the square as your guide regales you with tales of the October Revolution in 1917, when Bolshevik crowds, impassioned by Lenin, stormed the Winter Palace from this very spot.

Stretch your legs along the Nevsky Prospekt and learn how the stately avenue was commissioned by Peter the Great – the city’s revered founder. Then, head into Senate Square to view the Bronze Horseman, the famous statue depicting Peter astride a rearing horse.
Snap photos of the sprawling Peter and Paul Fortress across the water from the Palace Embankment, and then visit three of the city’s splendid Russian Orthodox cathedrals.

Head inside St Isaac’s Cathedral, the largest of Russia’s cathedrals, and built during the Romanov period of rule in the 1800s. Ogle the marble colonnades, ceiling frescoes and mosaic-adorned walls, and then compare this lavish church to the more restrained Kazan Cathedral. Admire the Kazan’s colonnade as your guide explains how its design was inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
Next, walk to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood – one of the city’s showpiece sights. Ogle the gilded interior and onion-shaped domes as your guide charts how the church was built to honor Tsar Alexander II, the reformist ruler who was assassinated on the site in 1881.

Your tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel.
