About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- minicoco210 contributionsGreat Food, learned a lot! This cooking class was a great way to learn about local cuisine and eat delicious food! I really loved learning how to make ceviche as we learned 3 recipes. We started with a tour of the San Pedro market. My family hadn’t previously visited the market and this was a great discovery for us, that we came back to afterwards.Written August 28, 2024
- R6060VCmayac0 contributionsMust do experienceBest cooking class ever - Mauricio has 20 years of restaurant experience and so much attention was on ingredients and presentationWritten August 27, 2024
- marissarA900CW0 contributionsGreat food and experienceThis class is perfect for anyone who loves food and wants to learn about the food that is important to Peru. Our guide and chef, Dael, taught us so much in the market and in the kitchen. The dishes we made were wonderful. I would recommend to anyone who wants a calm activity to do while acclimating in Cusco!Written August 24, 2024
- Briana R0 contributionsCooking with friendsThis was a highlight of our trip to Peru! Del was an amazing chef and guide. We visited the market and then had a fabulous several course meal. It was a group of us three and another visiting chef- more like a group of friends cooking than anything formal. Trout ceviche in many forms was a delight!Written August 24, 2024
- bradjO2121WO0 contributionsGreat authentic cooking class!Mauricio was a great host - the tour of the market was very interesting, and the food was great, especially the ceviche. A great way to learn about Peruvian food and a low stress way to spend some time while you acclimate to the elevation in Cusco. Highly recommend.Written August 9, 2024
- Dan R0 contributionsGreat tour- do it!5 stars all around. Market tour was amazing we got to try all kinds of fruits and other tasty treats. The meal we made was one of the best on our trip.Written July 27, 2024
- 735colinj0 contributionsCultural Immersion- Lives Up to the Name & More!We came across "Cultural Immersion" during our research for a planned trip to Peru in July 2024. We were lucky to do so, as the office team led by Natasja was there throughout the planning process, and answered the questions we had in a timely fashion-typically within a day. We decided upon the "Incan Wonders- Best Short Peru Visit," which included visits to Umasbamba, Maras, kayaking on Waypo Lake, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, Cusco & Lima. Our guide Alvaro & driver Carlos where fantastic throughout the tour. Alvaro was an encyclopedia of knowledge, and was kind, flexible & made our trip truly memorable. Carlos was timely, considerate & efficient, everything a driver should be, especially in a different country/continent. The transfers between areas were well-timed & thought through, while the restaurant selections where awesome- truly reflecting the uniqueness of Peruvian cuisine. Overall, the experience of the trip was awesome, and we would highly recommend Cultural Immersion. Thank you to the team!Written July 18, 2024
- Ingrid P0 contributionsEngaging and delicious food!Mauricio was a wonderful host! The market experience was beautifully expressed, we tried chocolate, cheese and learned about the different vendors, products, produce, and prepared meals. He was friendly a patient with my 11 year old. The cooking experience was perfect!! Clean and smoothly organized so we knew exactly what to do. It felt peaceful, engaging, and friendly the whole time. I highly recommend this for grownups or families.Written July 15, 2024
- N8363EAnataliad0 contributionsFun activity with the familyThe experience visiting the market was great. The menu was suitable for all (gluten and peanut free) and delicious. Chef Mauricio made it really fun, easy, and yummy. ThanksWritten July 6, 2024
- Cgall220 contributionsCulinary Delights in CuscoWe started by touring the market and picking up supplies for the meal we were about to cook. We taste tested bread, cheese, and chocolate. We also learned a lot about the food that is grown in Peru. Then we walked back to the studio and made a Pisco Sour, then cooked a meal with many dishes. This was a wonderful experience!Written June 28, 2024
- Cruiser356429039300 contributionsAmazing experienceHighly recommend this class. I had a 1 on 1 experience with the chef and I learned so much. Also I highly recommend the San Pedro market tooWritten June 18, 2024

- laurenpY4219NN0 contributionsSuper fun Cusco experienceWhat a fun experience! We were joined by 3 other couples and met Mauricio at the San Pedro market for a wonderful session to learn about food options. We then walked back to the adorable culinary kitchen to do our cooking. All courses (there were 5!) were delicious!Written May 25, 2024
- dianebL5663JB0 contributionsYou promised the recipes! where are they?We have yet to receive the recipes promised during class - instructor said "don't take time to write down the ingredients - I will email the recipes to you all after the class." That was 2 weeks ago. We really enjoyed the class and food was great - don't tell me this is your way of keeping the ingredients/recipes a secret?? for Pisco Sour, Ceviche, and beef dish! Please forward! Diane and Jim You have our email (begins with DBrink)Written May 24, 2024

Our tour guide on shore, Percy, picked us up from the airport with tour bus, explained our schedule for the next 2 days on our way to the travel office. We stopped by the local market to get some supply and experience the local culture. Our guide gave us about 30 minutes of walk around the market by ourselves. In the travel office, Percy made a copy of our return flight reservation so he can web-check our flight. We took a one hour boat ride on the Amazon river to the resort; the ride is smooth and nice to get some cool breeze in the So. America humid heat weather.
Because it is a low season when we arrived, we were able to get 2 bungalows at a great price. We had a good lunch after arrived the resort site. After unpacked our luggage, we start our first tour the crocodile pond. Our tour guide, different person, explain the local natural habitat during our 40 minutes walk and point out some animal/insects as we come across them. Our guide continue to shows us his vast knowledge about the local habitat in the follow days of tour.
The resort lobby and bongalow are styled in the old explorer days, simple but clean. The pool is open from 9am to 6 pm and the water is very cold, a nice welcome after a long day of tour.
The daily lunch and dinner are local cuisine, but you do get western style breakfast (egg, pond cake, ham, etc). The only complaint I have is that the juice they serve is at room temperature (freshly squeezed) and so it take some used to in the hot weather.
Because we are in the middle of jungle, we only have electricity in the room from 5 to 5:30 AM, and 6 pm to 10 pm daily. No wifi. It is a good experience to return to a simpler life.
Overall, it is a great experience and we gain a much appreciation of the Amazon ecosystem.
Words of advise: bring strong bug repellent, strong sun tan lotion, hiking pants, hat, sunglasses, camera with extra batteries, binoculars, and some prepacked snake for the trail tour.

Great service and great location. The lodge is located at the river Madre de Dios some km away from Puerto Maldonado. Full service as well as four trips into the jungle (for the 3 night stay) are included. Rubber boots are provided within the camp. Our guide (Walter) was very nice and found a lot of things we never discoverd without him.
The food is realy good and a vegetarian option is availlable as well.
The schedule is a little bit drilled and the groups for the excursions are sometimes a little bit too big.
However the stay is recommended. Please do not forgot a mosquito repellent, you'll need it.
