About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- suzannemX5211HD0 contributionsThought ourselves lucky to have Ali as our guideAli Almaashant was a great guide as he was local, having grown up in the mountains, but he had learnt his english in the UK. He was knowledgeable about all areas of Omani life & was flexible, within reason, about the city tour. Hope his mum is recovering.Written February 5, 2025
- bamyham0 contributionsWonderful and easy very last minute cruise ship bookingWe had a few days notice that Salalah was added as a port stop. Karel was over the top fantastic in fast communication, coming up with a tour itinerary and making our day happy, interesting, educational and memorable. Highly recommend!!Written January 7, 2024
- jansE998AE0 contributionsPerfectGreat trip. Our 2 children enjoyed every minute of it. The guides are very welcoming and they have great knowledge of the area. Great is the hotel pick up, you just have a quite breakfast and the jeep arrives. 5 starsWritten December 22, 2023
- Fearless521033909880 contributionsWest DhofarWest Dhofar is really beautiful. We visited many places in the area thanks to the excellent guide Karel from Takamul Travel in Salalah. The West Dhofar Odyssey is really worth a visit.Written November 16, 2023
- G9071SRrichardd0 contributionsWestern Salalah tourThe tour itinerary itself was fine and covered the main attractions well (although East Salalah seems more picturesque). However I was a little disappointed by my guide (Karel), although he was entirely polite to me and full of factual and numerical information about the area he made a few comments about the local Omani population that I found distasteful and spent quite a lot of time on his phone. Examples of the comments include "They go to school but don't learn much", "Its unsettling for Europeans to see how the women dress here, they are covered and look like they are dressed for a funeral" & "The Omanis don't have much entrepreneurial spirit, they aren't good entrepreneurs", even if you think those things are true I'm not sure why anyone would say them out loud. I came away without a local feel for the area and culture and with the impression that he wasn't really passionate about Oman and was there just to make money. Shame.Written November 12, 2023
- Labakery0 contributionsSalalahThe mosque and the Frankincense museum are worth seeing. A very clean and pretty small city. You only need a few hours. We did not go to the beach. Our guide Said was very nice and informative. Unfortunately he was not allowed to enter the port to pick us up. We had to take a shuttle bus to a mall to meet up with him. Definitely a drawback to the excursion.Written November 9, 2023
- beabD2418KZ0 contributionsAmazing experience in OmanWe felt totally safe in Karel’s capable and caring hands. His knowledge of the area and Arabic countries in general is really impressive. The hike is manageable for inexperienced but fit middle aged people too.Written September 29, 2023
- N557ZYalia0 contributionsexcellentI hired two cars with two drivers, and they are brothers in the city of Salalah, the Sultanate of Oman. They were well-versed in the mountainous tourist places, and they were at a wonderful level of morals and good dealings. Their prices were very excellent and acceptable. If anyone wants to rent a car and driver in Salalah, he should refer to these two brothers because of my experience with them. Their names and phone numbers are as follows: Mr. Ibrahim Tel +96892514922 Mr. Faisal Tel +96896775766 safe trip for all . Ali Alkhuder from KuwaitWritten August 15, 2023

- 704jitkak0 contributionsTakamul travelA very well organized trip that brought me and my family incredible experiences. especially the sunset in the desert is beautiful. The guide was very pleasant and gave us a lot of information. We also had a rental car from the same company and everything was in perfect order. I recommend it to everyone.Written March 11, 2023
- gstarost890 contributionsA really great trip with a variety of sites to see.I really enjoyed this tour. The waterfall and pools were truly stunning and being able to swim with the fish was very special. The other sites were all really beautiful and a wide variety of sites. I recommend hiking down to the bottom of the sinkhole.Written February 18, 2023
- annahJ1791OK0 contributionsRub Al Khali tourWe have found Takamul travel via TripAdvisor and contacted them per Email to ask for a tour into the desert. Immediately they replied and sent an offer for a private tour that took place the next to the next day. Our guide and driver was Ahmed Al Shahri who picket us up directly at our hotel. He was very friendly and helpful, trying also to answer all questions we had about country and people. He drove us from Salalah into Rub Al Khali where we climbed sand hills (by car and by foot) and enjoyed the sunset. We have enjoyed this tour a lot and would any time book it again.Written January 6, 2023
- beabD2418KZ0 contributionsExcellent hiking tourExcellent hiking trip. Perfectly organized by Karel, a really knowledgeable and fun guide. Parts of the hike were challenging for this 67 year old with an artificial hip, but exhilarating and worth the effort. You will NOT be disappointed! A truly memorable day, thank you Karel/Takamul.Written December 12, 2022
- beatabY9517HF0 contributionsNot to be missed, with an excellent European guideA memorable day with our excellent guide Karel, who was good fun as well incredibly well-versed in every relevant topic imaginable. Very efficient too. The hike was physically demanding but far less challenging than expected (we are 56 And 67 years old, in relatively good shape). The sinkhole was spectacular and all the other sights we took in with joy whether river, waterfalls, flora and fauna. Worth every penny or cent. The cherry on the cake was the fact that we were all alone in the sinkhole. Choose your day well if you can, avoid weekends. Do not miss this wonderful experience!Written December 12, 2022

We are stopping at Salalah port on the Marco Polo while we are cruising. I would like to book this tour but the pick up had not got the name of the port. Therefore I would like to know if you pick up from the port.
Written December 11, 2019
The pick up is from the parking in front of the port where you can get by shuttlebus from the cruiseship. The tourguide will wait for you there with a sign with your name.
