About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- corac20130 contributionsNot much to see in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. It is not tourist-friendly.Not much to see there. Locals are not friendly. They wanted to charge us for attempting to take a picture with a background of a temple. Told us we have to register first and pay. This was part of a shore excursion we paid for at Norwegian Jewel. What a waste of money!Written March 21, 2024
- laylang0 contributionsReasonable package tours with very professional local guideI took their 3D2N Kundasang Package with my families of 5 including 2 elderlies. I liaised with Felicia & it was easy and straight forward via emails. Quite responsive (although without immediate responses) & all itineraries were well written up front. No “hanky panky” stunts during the tour. I reckon others should choose a better hotel coz mine was very “Budget” (it was told up front, I got no complaints) and stayed in Promenade Apartment (not recommended) advise to top up a bit more to stay in a decent hotel would be more enjoyable. The highly recommended portion is the guide they assigned to me, she is the local guide, Theresa, this lady is awesome with all good arrangements during the tour, given us amber of time to stops for photos/food/rest... she is full of information about Sabah, very experienced, flexible and friendly person. “A true 5 stars guide” I should said.Written October 2, 2022

- LM P0 contributionsTerrible Booking Agent and extremely poor Seaquest serviceThe driver knew nothing abt the arrangement. Seaquest staff give little info and not helpful at all. Just give lip service and asked us to wait and wait at the Jetty, without specifically tell us which boat to take. It was a big scramble on the return boat trip as Jetty is packed to max and family with kids surely will suffer. Bad service , very badWritten December 4, 2017
- mayumayu12240 contributionsBeautiful sea color!!We participated in Mengalum Island Day Trip. Mengalum Island is not famous in Japan. I contacted several local companies. The correspondence of staff of this company was the quickest. And tour staff (we went to the island together) The correspondence of young male staff was wonderful. Only the Japanese were us. We do not understand Chinese. But he always supported us. Thanks to that, I had a very good time. Of course, Mengalum Island was very beautiful. Whenever I go to Borneo, I will definitely use this company.Written September 1, 2017
- Alison P0 contributionsExcellent day tour from KK with Mr KhanFour of us booked a private tour which was well worth the extra money (212 MR each) as we could go at our own pace. Our guide Mr Khan and driver Mr Thomas picked us up in an air conditioned van at 7.30am and dropped us back at 6pm. Mr Khan has been a tour guide for 18 years and there's nothing he doesn't know! He kept us informed and entertained as we visited Nabalu village for coffee, to stretch our legs and enjoy the stunning mountain views. Then we went to the rainforest canopy walk (we had already decided to give the Poring Hot Springs a miss but it is very close by). Mr Khan had organized lunch at a local cafe and it was plentiful and tasty (and the cost included). Next stop was Mt Kinabalu National Park where we trekked through more rainforest and then Ne Khan guided us around the garden of interesting medicinal plants and the world's tiniest orchid amongst hundreds of other plants, trees and even tiny squirrels. They were happy to stop whenever we wanted for photos, refreshments etc We all agreed it was an excellent day and highly recommend our informative and happy guide Mr Khan and very safe driver Mr ThomasWritten August 24, 2017

It was about a two-hour drive from the hotel in the city, and the first place we stopped was a place selling fruit and souvenirs, where we could get a good view of Mt. Kinabalu and take some beautiful photos. We then went to the botanical gardens to view the various plants, and then went to the canopy walk. The stairs to the top were difficult for me, who is not very fit. There is a limit to the number of people who can cross the bridge, and it was quite shaky and a little scary. After that, we took a bath in the hot spring (foot bath), had lunch, and viewed the Rafflesia. We were able to see the buds that were on their third day of blooming and those that will bloom tomorrow. They were selling durian at the entrance to the Rafflesia viewing area, and they were cheaper and tastier than buying them in the city.

This tour is a good option if you're looking for an activity from Kota Kinabalu that would keep you busy for the whole day.
It covers all the main attractions but, if you intend to do some trekking in Kinabalu Park, you won't have time for this.

All in all, the trip was not as we expected.
On TripAdvisor, it was advertised that we would go to the Hot Springs and the Botanical Gardens in Kinabalu Park. However, when receiving the itinerary it was stated that we would go to Desa Dairy Farm. Something we weren't interested in, and we were looking forward to the Botanical gardens the most. In the itinerary it did state that we would go to the park so we excepted the booking. Eventually the kinabalu park visit ended up being only a 15 minute stop at the entrance.
Our guide didn't have too much to tell us. At each stop he would say what could be seen where, but not any other information that we could otherwise have not obtained. Having the guide there didn't add much value to our trip.
The best thing about the trip was the visit to the Rafflesia farm where a flower just started blooming a day ago. This isn't part of the trip usually, but it was great to see this!
What was also nice was the driver. He was very capable and drove very well along the winding roads and it was nice to be able to take in the view and not focus on driving.
Would I recommend to go to the Kinabalu Park and go to the canapy walk at the hot springs: yes! It is a great activity and you will really enjoy the rainforest.
Would I recommend this tour: no. You can do the same by renting a car and driving around yourself. You will have more control of how long you stay at which place and where you go.

For Kota Kinabalu tours Masenang travels was by tour partner and likely I will use them for future tours too. Their prices are unbeatable and service is good. I had to make many changes in my tour program due to unavoidable circumstances and Mr Chin (owner) managed it nicely through WhatsApp. The Kinabalu Park and Desa Cattle farm tours went exceptional as our driver (Rahman) took us to the important places in the vast park and saved us from trekking long with kids. Many tour agents will drop tourists at main gate and leave but Masenang driver was smarter. The airport transfers were smooth but personally going ahead I will recommend to book through Grab and save bucks as airport to city is barely 15mins distance. For the two island trip the snorkelling kit wasn’t proper and the pipe was leaking but all said there is hardly anything to snorkel at Sapi and Manukan islands worth the efforts. It can be best said snorkelling for ones who have never done it. Else the islands are best for enjoying crystal clear water, maybe for diving and trek around the island. The poring hot springs (am told isn’t great) but can.opy walk is. So will recommended 7am start then go Kinabalu Park (2hrs) + Desa Cattle Farm (20min) and lunch at Poring + canopy walk (1hr) as a full day tour. Read more in my blog emojisarebald com.

Thank you for your support and your encouraging words will make our team perform even better in future. We already checked all the snorkelling equipment to ensure that it is in working order. We will replace it to our guests if at any time the snorkeling equipment is not working.
