- 1Langkawi, one of Malaysia's most picturesque areas has been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark, Southeast Asia's first. This cluster of 99 islands offers beautiful beaches, world-class infrastructure, ultra-cheap duty-free shopping and fascinating myths and legends. Explore this amazing part of the world as you want to on this private guided tour. Experience the beautiful countryside and the peaceful landscape of paddy fields by renting a car and taking a leisurely drive around the island. Some of Langkawi’s most rustic and memorable views are along the road that circles the island. You'll pass small villages with wooden houses framed by palm trees, and children pedalling their old bicycles on an errand. Aside from experiencing the local lifestyle, there is no shortage of things to do in Langkawi. Head up the thrilling new cable car to the summit of Mount Mat Cincang - Langkawi's second highest mountain - for an incredible view of the entire main island and beyond. You can also visit the the Hot Springs, Telaga Tujuh (The Seven Wells) and the Beach of Black Sand. Or if you're more outdoorsy, why not go trekking through the pristine rainforest that blankets most of Langkawi, or take a boat tour of the mangroves and enjoy some scuba diving. - maj0ra0 contributionsGreat ExperienceIt was a great experience for me, Brandon & Ramesh to travel around the Island and walk-about. We experience many good tasty food restaurants, small shopping stalls and big and famous Malls. Mostly we enjoyed the beautiful white sandy beach with clean and clear water. It stretches for miles. The foreign tourists love the beach and th sun bath very much. Meeting new people and making new friends were very exiting. People from all walks of like gather here and they are very friendly and enjoy themselves very much. There are so many many activities for everyone. Lamgkawi Island is a great tourists destination with Duty free Zones every where.Very rich in local culture, tradition & customs. Don't miss it when you are in Malaysia. We will return.Written July 1, 2018
- Elsa W0 contributionsExcellent day tourIf you have Ricky as your you guide, there is nothing to complaint. He been really good and informative. We only have 6 hours in Langkawi and we wanted to make use of the time and He knows where to go and visit. We have a great time with him showing us around. Thanks Ricky.Written February 2, 2016

- imukherjee0 contributionsRent a car and the island is yoursWe hired a small car @ 60 RM and deposit of 50RM from the Airport from 11am till 6 pm . we went around the sialand starting with Cable car , Tanjungh Rhu...the Eagle Port through Kuah and took the Bukit Malut road which goes by the main port to reach Pantai Cenang . The petrol is extremely cheap and we spent only 20 RM on that . Carry rain coat as it rains atleast once in a day April onwards . There are ample options for street food which are extremely cheap to a range of 6RM for a full plate to 20 RM . Shop from oriental village...its cheaper than Pantai Cenang .Written May 4, 2015
- Svatava K0 contributionsSwimming monkeysWe made two boat trips. Skippers seem to enjoy going very fast, regardless of how their passangers feel bumpy rides. We were impressed by eagles fishing, but even more, by monkeys living in mangroves - some didn´t hesitate to jump into sea and swim to catch goodies thrown from boats. Tours are well organized, though not very comfortable, and we also missed a better English speaking guide.Written January 23, 2015
- Cherylee980 contributionsCruising to LangkawiShore excursions on board are expensive. I would advise travelers to do what we did which was to book a cab to go to places you want to visit and also take us back to the ship terminal ( Resorts World Langkawi - Star Cruises Jetty) We had 4 pax and were lucky to have met a guy who could speak English and he charged RM$200 flat from 9am till 1:30pm to the places we wanted - Kuah Town, Eagle Square, Handicraft , Dried seafood stall & Jalan Cenang. There are plenty of cabs and mini vans. Don't be afraid to walk further out nearest the resort. Next month, we will be back but will go for the eagle feeding, mangrove visit and bat cave.Written November 19, 2014
- Walter2410 contributionsBugs, Birds, Spiders, Snakes, and moreA 4 hour walk in the jungle was very interesting with a guide that saw so many things we had not noticed till he told us. The life was so well hidden in the open view that we did not see it. Not strenuous but challenging at times as the many ants would get into the footwear and bite. One or two are ok but when it goes on for several hours it begins to be annoying. Be prepared for it as shoes and socks do not help.Written August 22, 2014
- shafqatrabbi0 contributionsHired Taxi for 4 hoursWe were 7 persons in our group and hired a Micro Bus. Name of the Driver is Helmi. We visited 3-4 places and nearby beach. It is observed that he is interested to take us somewhere where we will have fun and he will have idle time. We took boat and saw fish feeding and eagle in the lake. Then went to Kraft Complex. The Driver was driving slow to kill the time and we could not visit more. I recommend all to hire one mentioning the spots and time.Written August 6, 2014
- Orren K0 contributionsIsland Hopping tourWe took a 4 hr island hopping tour. We went to Rice Island for swimming then on to Eagle feeding. We went past Pregnant Maiden island for photo ops then on to a freshwater lake. It was a short walk to the lake which was a bit of a tourist trap. Lots to buy and no shelter. We paid RM35 a head which was extremely reasonable. It was a bit of a "no-frills" tour but well worth the money. We had a great time.Written April 15, 2014

My husband and I wanted to hire a private driver for the day to explore the island. We paid 100 ringgits for the first four hours and additional 25 ringgits for each hour after that. This is the average going rate. Our driver arrived on time at our hotel, his English was excellent, he was friendly, considerate, and very easy to be around. He took us to a local eatery and explained traditional Malay food. When it rained heavily while we were out, he ran out to get an umbrella for us while he got soaked. When I needed to breastfeed my infant, he let me do so in his car and offered to keep his car running so the AC would keep both my baby and I cool.
If you are interested in hiring a private driver in Langkawi, I would recommend this driver. His name is Fakhrul (pronounced FA-CREW) and his number is 017-4858-568. He is Malaysian, married to a Chinese woman and has three beautiful boys. His car is like any other taxi cars, so would probably be best for couples or three people.

We hired Nan for the day. He is not from Langkawi but is Malaysian and knows the area very well. We spent 7 hours with him and it was a total of 170RM (we gave him 200RM). He took us to the cable car and waited for us to return, then to a waterfall, however I was unable to walk up the hill due to knee replacements, so we continued on to black sand beach and then on to a gorgeous private beach for a look. We ended up at the Mardi Agrotechnology Fruit Farm and then he took us to Kuah Town for lunch. After lunch we had a look at Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) before he took us to the Royal Yacht Club where we had already booked a sunset cruise. He came back at the end of our cruise and took us back to our accommodation. If you want to book Nan (we highly recommend you do) his number is: 012-4075506. He lives in the middle of the island and has a wife and six daughters!

We hired a taxi after seeing a previous review and we were not disappointed. We hired Fakhrul his mobile no is 0174858568. His taxi no. Is kv7187b. He is a registered taxi driver who we took for the day tours with us. The great thing is he can speak English and compared to others is very good. He is a local born and bred langkawi Malaysian. He told us history and any other info we needed. We rang him the first day once we got to the hotel and he was great. He arrived on time and took us to the places where we planned to go. he would wait outside and when we got back out find us straight away and continue to the next destination. Whilst we had plans to visit a few places he told us other places where to go. His charges was 4 hours 100 ringgit (which is roughly the norm). But having him as a taxi driver was brill. He is always laughing and smiling and good fun and has excellent knowledge of the island. He is a genuine good natured man he was so shocked and happy that the Internet trip advisor review led to us ringing him (lol he just couldnt understand). One night we got hungry and it was 10pm we were staying far from all restaurants etc so we called him. He came down and took us to eat. Highly recommended you won't be disappointed we used him for 3 days and also for the airport run. Once again his name is Fakhrul and telephone is 0174858568 and tell him he's famous now lol and ebrahim wrote him a good review.

We have hired a taxi from http://langkawitaxiservice.com. Ph. no. 012-4899969. Name Mohd Fauzee Ibrahim. The person was very polite & helpful. He guided us what to see & when. The rates were very reasonable. We did Go Karting, saw some beaches, visited Atam Alam Batic shop, saw Crocodile Farm, have lunch on the way, saw one Mosque, went to Eagle Squre & Lagenda Park in the evening. All day fun. With the driver cum tour guide we explored the city well. Previous day we explored Mangrove tour, Hot springs & Cable Car. The two days were made memorable with their help.

There are a number of operators running the mangrove and island tours
They all follow a basic path and you will see innumerable high powered speed boats plying the waters
De Baron is a conglomerate of motels resturants and tour groups within Langkawi. We booked through the hotel and we were picked up at the motel.
I/2 hour drive to boats and away we went
The itinery was
1. fossil island....yawn who cares
2. Unesco park...yawn
3. Bat cave.. Very interesting with many types of bats and rock formations
4. Hidden lagoon... 140 steps in stinking heat to descend into the cay... Interesting enough but hoo hot hot
5. Swimming at Pasir Panjang beach. Typical pristine beach... Did I mention the heat
6. Lunch at tanjung rhu floating fish farm... Lots of cold cordial refills..really important because it was stinking hot. Lunch bland rice and chicken pieces so not to make thr foreigners sick. Not to bad but boring. Fruit was nice.. And did I mention the cordial... Wonderfully
7. Fish feeding on the farm.sounds lame but was a stack of fun.the guide gave a guy some fish food and this ray the size of a 787 leaps out the water to take the food nearly giving the poor guy a heart attack. Really big fish and a lot of fun
8. Eagle feeding.. Magnificent. At a spot the ythrow feed into the river and literally scores of eagles of varying sorts come along
9. Monkey feeding. Really different experience. In the streams between the mangroves the monkeys come out for a feed .. Ryes monkeys who are vegetarians and very bold
It makes for great day. I have done similar in other countries and this was a stand out. Ok the only negative was the meal was boring and it was really hot. Now I come from Brisbane and 38 degree heat and 99% humidity. And when I say something is hot I mean super humidity And high temp. I Drank a two litre bottle of water and lots of cordial and did not need to go to the toilet all day... That's hot folks it just sweats out of you. The Malaysians, Singaporeans and Ausies all agreed it was hot by everyone's standards the Japanese, Chinese and Europeans on the trip were in real trouble with the heat as it was something they have never experienced. ( by the way Singaporeans win any day when it comes to calling your country hot..there it's hot or hot and raining)
I would recommend the trip without reservation but bring water sun screen and a hat as it's hot

I can't believe that they get someone from the National Geographic to be our guide to the rain forest. Othman, our tourguide, is definitely more than just a tourguide. He share with us his passion in the nature. He teaches us to appreciate the symphony of the rain forest. Travelling is more than just what you SEE since being with Othman, my husband and I both think that this guy had made our trip worth it! And also because of Othman, Malaysia is now more than just another southern asia tourist destination to me. I begins to find literature in its culture and nature. He lend us an eye so our vision is now different. I am not exaggerating thing, it is quite an experience!
And another guy who picked us up the first day, Ricky was a very nice person. Just very welcoming and helpful. He told us where to find good food and stuff. An organise and the smartest person we have met in Langkawi.
And now, I begin to worry that they will be more seeked after since they are doing such a good job and I won't be able to book them as my tourguide the next time I go.

Ubaidillah Shah known as Shah is a great driver, very knowledgeable as he works in the police force and is a very interesting and trustworthy guy. I was lucky enough to find Shah from a 2014 review. I organised Shah through an email but now he is a fb friend, so can be found on fb or contact me and I will give you his email address. Shah was there waiting at the wharf in Langkawi and took us to some amazing spots where no one else was as well as the tourist spots. He has a very comfortable car, is a good driver and is a really good person . Will take any money $50us $Australian 70 for a full day. Not like our driver in Penang who was a no show the day before, his name was Ezra, Shah was there in amongst the throng of drivers holding our name up high which is the best feeling not to have to negotiate a price upon arrival. Highly recommended.

Just by price-wise for a group of 2, it is a norm for a private taxi with a hourly rate of RM25-30/hour and you will need a full day in the island, you are talking about RM200, plus or minus. With the regular tour with standard 4 places, you are talking about RM100/head for 6 hours. I think you will be smart enough to do the comparison...

After coming out of the Langkawi Airport Sam approached us offering his Taxi services to drop off to hotel in Cenang Beach. He was very good in communicating in English, humble soft spoken & knowledgeable. on the way to hotel we discussed about the next day trip as well. In Toal we paid MR 170 for pick & drop off from Airport to Cenang beach & full day trip on other day.
Excellent guy who should be contacted for your LANGKAWI TRIP. His charges are lowest & he is very punctual & gives ample of time so that you can freely enjoy your trip. He also offered us bottle of chilled mineral water bottle as well.
Do not think twice, just call him & book your trip when in LANGKAWI

Any heelp would be appreciated.

I am interested in hiring a private tour guide for our upcoming trip. Just a few questions.
1)Is this a private tour, so there would be just my party (4 pax) or would we be joined by other groups?
2) Will we be deciding where to go on that day itself or beforehand?
3) Will it be possible to request an english speaking guide?
