Island Adventure Sea Kayak Tour(Ise-Shima)

By Kaito Yumin Club, One Day Tour
About
Come on an uninhabited island adventure by sea kayak! Large birds soar the skies while finless porpoises swim the coastal waters. Beneath the waves, fish swim and sea grass sways with the current, as Ama forage the sea floor for shellfish. On this tour, you will visit 3 small uninhabited islands in Ise-Shima National Park. Large wild birds, Black Kites, inhabit these islands. From February to June, you can spot small finless porpoises called “Sunameri”, diving in and out of the water. In the sea, discover the mysterious underwater seaweed forests swaying with the underwater currents. In these conditions, the traditional fishing methods of the free-diving fishing women : Ama-san, can be seen. The Ama’s fishing history dates back over 3000 years in the Toba-Shima area. If you are lucky, you can meet them in person. This tour will let you experience the close connection between nature and Japanese culture. The departure point is very close to Toba station and easily accessible. Our guide will assist you while kayaking, so you can enjoy it even if its your first time! Please mention at reservation if you need to rental (free) clothes and marine shoes!

1Day Ama Experience Tour - Super!
I took a 1-Day Ama Experience Tour with Kiyomi. When I arrived at the Kaito Yumin Club in Toba, everyone was super nice. They helped me with the luggage, recommended a place where I could enjoy the sakura flowers in full bloom and they offered me refreshments and a nice chat. When it was time to start the tour, we went to the Mikimoto pearl island and then to Osatsu, to the Ama Hut for lunch. Kiyomi was driving and took the panoramic route and I throughly enjoyed it. Also, since I am a solo traveller, Kiyomi brought her camera and took a lot of pictures, which she sent me soon after the trip. This was very thoughtful and made me so happy! The Ama lunch was delicious and I learnt a lot about the Ama way of life and about these strong and resourceful ladies. The tour was really interesting, but also very relaxing and I really enjoyed it. I recommend getting in touch with the Kaito Yumin Club in Toba if you are in the area.

      Private shore excursion at Toba
We booked a private shore excursion tour with Kaito Yumin Club and visited Toba a few days ago. Kiku is our driver/guide for our private tour. She is nice and cheerful and the car is new and clean. We visited Toba Observatory and were able to see Mt Fuji from there. In addition, we had delicious seafood lunch at AMA Hut and visited the Mikimoto island. I would recommend tour with Kaito Yumin Club!

      Ama Spiritual Tour
If you have a chance to visit Toba or have an extra day in Nagoya, I highly recommend doing a tour with Kaitou Yumin Club. We selected the Ama tour as I really wanted to meet the locals and see a different side of Japan. My husband and I met with Kiku (the owner of the agency) at the JR Toba station. As soon as we met, we know we were in good hands. This was our 4th visit to Japan, so we had lots of specific questions for Kiku about the Ama divers and the surrounding areas. Kiku was able to answer all of our questions. The ladies at the Ama hut were so funny. Even if you do not speak any Japanese, Kiku is able to translate. We had tons of laughs and the fresh seafood....WOW. I would love to return to Toba and join another tour with Kiku and Kaitou Yumin Club.

      Toba Culinery Walks
Visiting Toba for the first time I reached out to the Kaito Yumin Club and was lucky to have Dwinda as our guide. Both my wife and I enjoyed some history of Toba and enjoyed various lunch treats in the area. Dwinda is great and made us feel comfortable with her great knowledge as well as her awesome personality. I highly recommend Dwinda and the Kaito Yumin Club as you won't find a better experience! Brian & Sandy

      Lunch in Fisherman Village Tour
Our family of 10 recently enjoyed a tour of Toshijima Island with Dwinda and Kie. What a wonderful experience! They were very accommodating, even picking up our luggage and storing it while we went on the tour. We enjoyed the walking tour of the island, and the lunch we had was fabulous. Prepared by an Ama diver and served in her home, the lunch consisted of a number of courses that were extremely tasty and beautifully presented. The host also stayed with us throughout the lunch and answered our questions through Dwinda as an interpreter. I would definitely recommend the Kaito Yumin Club. I'm sure any of the tours they offer will be enjoyable.

      1 day Ama Tour
I highly recommend 1 day Ama Tour with Kaitou Yumin Club. Excellent tour with private shuttle and very deep explanations by Dwinda & Kie on the places that we went. Ama is very friendly and happy. The seafood lunch was absolutely delicious as those seafood were very fresh especially the lobsters are still alive! We would like to give a big hugs and thank you to Dwinda & Kie. Thumb-ups for both of them as they really very helpful. We would like to see both Dwinda & Kie- the future Ama, in the future again. :)

      Great Experience!
I highly recommend the Kaitou Yumin Club! This was one of the best experiences I've had traveling in the past fifteen years. I worked with Dwinda, Kiku, and Kie and they were very accommodating and helpful! Dwinda exchanged emails several times leading into the tour and was totally willing to provide information on the area and how their tours work. She was exceptionally helpful. If you're in the Toba area you will have an excellent experience with this business.

A once only treat of a day
Our travel agent in the UK arranged this tour for us as part of a 3½ week trip to 8 destinations in Japan. Until we met Dwinda, waiting for us at Toba bus station, with 4 places to visit, the only thing that I had realised in advance was that her name was not Japanese and that we were going to meet a real pearl diver. We were greeted with her winning smile and the tone for the day was set. The reality of the day lived up to our initial impression. If a century old tradition, informative museums, interesting and interested guides and above all lunch cooked by a kneeling pearl diver over a charcoal heated grill and which included shell fish the size of which I've never seen before and live lobster, then this is a really good tour for you. The Ise Toba region is off the beaten path for many tourists, and although I wouldn't recommend it for mainstream visitors, for those of you who have the interest in seeing a real Japanese tradition at work, look no further and include the tour in your itinerary Kiku, Dwinda's partner, and training to become a pearl diver herself shares half the day with us, and they make a good double act

Ama-san tour with Dwinda and Kiku.
You really want to do something of the road in Japan, go to see Kiku and Dwinda in Toba in their Kaitou Yumin Club. They will arrange everything from A to Z, to get you one of the best days in your life. My wife and I took the half day Ama-san tour and this was really good! Ama-san history, Ama-san food, Ama-san village, Ama-san Temple, nothing was forgotten. We really liked this day in Toba , two very nice, always smiling and perfectly english speaking young women. Thanks again Dwinda and Kiku, see you next time on our next trip for a new adventure. Eva and Jan

Great private tour, perfect for nature lovers
Name of the tour: "Let's go by Boat! Lunch at Fisherman Village" Me and my boyfriend spent our morning with two lovely tour guides of Kaitou Yumin Club - a local Japanese and an English speaking Indonesian who also speaks perfect Japanese. It was a 3-hour day tour to Toshijima. In general, the trip was informative and interesting and we were lucky that the weather was superb. It's not a tough course so normal daywear and walking shoes are good enough: Toba Marine Terminal >> Toshijima >> Shrine >> Fish market >> Lunch >> Toba Marine Terminal The greatest part was having lunch at the Female Divers' hut (海女). Had a taste of homemade food of the inhabitants and talked to them.

      Toba Culinary Walks
Went to Toba guided by Kaito Yumin Club. I chose Culinary Walks because Toba is a vintage village surrounded by old houses and buildings nearby the Ocean, so it must be very interesting to have a culinary walk there. And it was indeed very interesting!! The guide was an Indonesian, who speaks three languages: Indonesian, Japanese, and English very fluently, so if you think you cannot speak Japanese, you don't have to be worry because she will explain everything wonderfully. The club usually asks you whether you are a Japanese speaker or not to determine which guide best for you. We started the culinary walks at 12, because it was meant for lunch. The first place they took me around was the Shinto shrine or Jinja. This is an very old shinto shrine and very vintage, but don't expect it will be as big as Ise Jinggu (If you want to go to a bigger shrine you can ask the club to guide you to the magnificent Ise Jinggu also) and they showed me how Shintos pray. This was very interesting for me as a first timer seeing a Japanese Shintos praying in front of the shrine. After the Jinja, they took me to the oldest sushi restaurant in Mie Prefecture (yes!! THE OLDEST!!). The sushi master was really old but is very skillfull. He served us a super fresh sardine sushi (I forgot the Japanese name) and it was really great! He also showed us the making of Japanese traditional culinary art of sushi garnish. It was very interesting, trust me. Aside of the show, he also gave us the garnish to be taken to our home (I still have it until now) and also a piece of paper printed by the restaurant to guide us making this kind of garnish art. The atmosphere of the restaurant, the hospitality of Japanese collided around us and it was perfect. I think it would be much better if it was for dinner! The show was still going on and they took me to the Awabi (鮑 = Abalone) shop. It was not only a shop but they had some kind of attraction of making mollusks sashimi. They showed us some mollusks (including the abalone) and made a fresh sashimi for us. We tried the sashimi and it was really great. My wife usually don't eat raw food but she really liked it (this might be caused by the fresh seafood). They also have their own product of Japanese Shoyu (soy sauce) made by abalone. Aside of this trip, you can also buy some gifts for family in the Awabi shop or buy pearls in the pearl shops nearby the club which is very cheap to compare with the other places. I suggest you to try this trip. I believe the club also has other trips that are worth to try.
