- C2450VJtracys0 contributionsHistory and new foods - a complete experience!Alejandra took my daughter and I on this walking tour our 2nd day in Tokyo, felt like we were getting to know Asakusa, plus info re other areas of Tokyo with a good friend. The walk was not too long for us, full of history, religion and knowledge of Japan, the Shrine in the evening was super special, the food was yummy comfort food, drinks overflowing (if you want), loved the new snacks we tried (and bought to take home) - just a fun, relaxing, easy night to begin our Japan adventure. The photos of the 2 of us were special too! Thanks Alejandra and Arigato Tours! (PS we paid $120usd each, not 230+ ea).Written December 3, 2024
- B8077QZmagalic0 contributionsJacob will make your evening memorable!Jacob our guide was simply amazing. He was knowledgeable, fun and passionate. We had an amazing time tasting delicious food, learning about the neighborhood and Japanese culture but also having fun, drinking and singing karaoke. His English is impeccable and his enthusiasm for food and Japan is contagious! A must do while in Tokyo.Written December 1, 2024

- 113petrar0 contributionsA great time for first timers. Our tour was great. Sebastian was engaging and informative. We went around to enough places to get a nice sampling of the area and the local food, but not so many that we were exhausted. The food choices were wonderful. We'd definitely do another tour in the future.Written November 30, 2024
- notsurewherehomeis0 contributionsIn Kytoto do the Pontocho tour, skip the Gion kaisekeWe did two "foodie" tours in Kyoto with Arigato. The Gion tour with Kaiseke was a complete bust and not value for money - give it a miss, but the Pontocho Alley tour was a winner. Our guide was Thomas and he was terrific. We experienced a wonderful variety of food and enjoyed some cultural history as well.Written November 29, 2024
- 165noahb0 contributionsHighly recommend! My parents and I really enjoyed the Tsukiji market tour with Sandra and Makki! This was one of the things I was looking forward to in my first visit to Japan, and I am glad to have done it -- not only do we get to try the sumptuous seafood (which of course was expected), we also get a primer on both the history and culture surrounding this humble little market. I guess we were also lucky to have both Sandra and Makki along as they're able to provide both a foreign and native perspective to the experience. As a result, we enjoyed Tsukiji so much that we visited the place 2 more times on our own just to make the most out of our brief stay!Written November 29, 2024
- O2865ECnicolat0 contributionsAn amazing experienceKay is a gifted tour leader. She struck up a strong rapport with us and quickly worked out our interests. She guided us around the market picking out delicious local delicacies for us to experience. The oysters were amazing. She added thoughtful touches to the tour and we learned about the Japanese language and customs as well as the cuisine culture. At the end she provided a wonderful picnic of some of the food she had picked with us and it made a lovely ending to a memorable morning. Initially we had not been sure about the tour but Kay made it one of the best things we have done on our holiday so far.Written November 28, 2024
- Golourdesduarte0 contributionsIncredible Time Experience Local CuisineHad the most incredible time on a retro food tour of Osaka with Akiko! Not only did we have some incredible bites, like okonomiyaki, udon and kushikatsu, we were able to experience local games and shops (we loved the demonstration at Tower Knives so much, we went back the following day to purchase a set)! Akiko was really informative and really showed us a part of Osaka that we would've otherwise missed. Eternally grateful for such a fun experience!Written November 28, 2024
- W2300QPshannonh0 contributionsFun family food tour in Ginza neighborhood! We had an amazing food tour with Arigato Travel last night in the Ginza neighborhood. Our guide, Kaz, was fantastic, highly recommend him! We got so many cultural insights and tips, as well as eating some delicious snacks and meals! A highlight for us was the stop at a small Okinawan restaurant, where we were treated to incredible tasty food and a cool atmosphere (and an unexpected live musical performance) that we never would have found on our own. We also really enjoyed the dessert stop for seasonal daifuku mochi that was so yummy! We really appreciated Kaz's relaxed but informative style; my kids (16 and 13) enjoyed learning from him. Would definitely recommend this tour and Kaz in particular to English speakers who want to get a sense of the food scene in Tokyo.Written November 27, 2024
- Kirby19530 contributionsA Great Food ExperienceKevin was a first class guide for our food tour. With just the three of us it was a very personal experience. We learnt about both the food but also more about the Japanese culture. We not only visited a variety of food experiences but also a few other cultural places of interest. I'll not say we enjoyed everything we ate but that was about our taste - we tried a number of foods we would not have ordered in a restaurant and some we enjoyed! One of the restaurant/bars he took us to became a 'favourite' and we revisited it on a couple of occasions to eat: we would never have found it without Kevin!Written November 27, 2024
- Joyce Anne G0 contributionsWonderful food tour experience! We had a wonderful food tour with Ray, our guide. He gave us an overview of Shinjuku area, taught us some Japanese etiquette during meals, and had an interesting walking tour aside from trying different kinds of food. It was a 3 hour lively tour and you must go with an empty stomach coz there is so much food! It was an experience exploring restaurants/bars in Golden Gai. Thank you!Written November 26, 2024
- Climber303297293570 contributions5 stars!Excellent experience with Ully on a food tour, great knowledge of the local area and was a pleasure to spend time with. Thanks again!Written November 25, 2024
- W4255FErebeccat0 contributionsGreat experience to try all kinds of Japanese cuisineWe had a private tour with Ana and another couple from UK. We walked the Gion and Pontocho areas and visited sweet shops and several restaurants. The food was fabulous, the refreshments were fantastic. We have used Arigato Tours previously and will sign up again for another foodie tour!Written November 23, 2024
- roberthL9779TU0 contributionsTasting interesting and off the beaten trackAbsolutely fantastic food tour with Kevin. He managed to exceed our expectations which were already quite high after 7 weeks touring. The food was delicious and his knowledge of the area amazing. Kevin led us down alley ways which were well off the tourist trail. Making us feel like guests not simply customers it was a great evening. Strongly recommend both Kevin and Arigato tours.Written November 21, 2024
- stevehV4827VO0 contributionsFood glorious foodOur food tour of Osaka with Akiko of Arigato Travel was not only enlightening and informative, but delicious. She picked great spots to eat the specialities Osaka is renowned for, plus showed us hidden gems in this never-ending energy city. Thanks for a great time! Highly recommended.Written November 20, 2024

My wife and I went on the Fuji tour. Lauren and Alex were wonderful travel companions and had selected numerous local traditional (and great!) restaurants. The food highlight was the Yakisoba restaurant. Mt fuji was shy the day of our visit as it was raining all day... but with great guides and great food we still enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are aspiring foodies and found this tour to be a great way to experience very tasty local cuisine and learn a lot about the area. The Mt Fuji museum was another highlight.

Hi. In the overview, it states that "Eat a delicious lunch and sample sakes, learn to prepare a traditional “Wagashi” sweet, and savor a cup of local green tea." This leads me to think that the wagashi-making is included. However, when i look on the official tour site, it says there is an additional charge for it and another hour will be needed. So for $162, is it included, or not?
